Former Washington Redskins linebacker and current sports radio talk show host, Lavar Arrington has gotten into a serious verbal battle with his former teammate and current star Redskins running back Clinton Portis.
Arrington makes it a practice to call out his former teammates on the air during his radio show on 106.7¬† The Fan, when he thinks the need arises.¬† I don’t know what makes him think his NFL career was so stellar that he has the credibility to call anybody out.
The former linebacker had lit into Portis on the airwaves not long ago, so the former Miami Hurricane decided to comment on Arrington.
“I lost a lot of respect for LaVar at that moment, speaking at Sean’s funeral,” Portis told a host and co-worker of Arrington’s on the Washington sports talk station 107.9.¬† “To get up, I really thought that was . . . I don’t know what you call that.¬† LaVar ain’t know Sean like that. . . .¬† I remember me and Sean was going to jump LaVar, you know, for throwing pie at Sean’s face his rookie year, and trying to haze Sean, and be the tough guy.¬† He felt like it was a joke. We didn’t like that sh-t.¬† For all the attention LaVar claim, and that him and Sean was cool — they wasn’t cool. . . .¬† Sometime, people should stop. . . .¬† I don’t think you should do that.¬† If you cool with somebody, or you know somebody, you knew ’em.¬† Don’t go and portray, set out an image like ‘this is your buddy, this is your pal’ like you all hung, when y’all really didn’t.¬† I don’t think that’s fair man.”
These guys are still arguing about what was said at Sean Taylor’s funeral a number of years ago.
Why is Portis so worked up about Arrington claiming to be close to Taylor?¬† Taylor’s family let Arrington speak at the funeral which something about how they felt about Arrington’s relationship with Taylor.
If you checkout the interview that Portis did on the station, you will see that this dude is a trip.¬† No wonder they haven’t won anything during his time there even though they have some talent on the team.
Arrington will be on the air this afternoon at 2pm.  It should prove to be interesting.
