Redskins linebacker Rocky McIntosh wasn’t very happy when the Washington front office decided to apply only a second-round tender to keep his services.
He demanded a new contract or a trade.¬† McIntosh has gotten neither, so it’s limited his choices.
The outside linebacker, who doesn’t seem to fit the Skins new 3-4 defense, showed up to the team’s facility for today’s off season workout.
McIntosh had been missing from action at the team’s off season workouts, but he showed up today.
He wants a new deal and has reportedly signed an injury protection letter before beginning to workout in the team’s off season program. I don’t think they’re going to give him a new deal because he doesn’t fit the 3-4 defense.
McIntosh will be signing his tender by June 15th because the Redskins will be able to reduce their offer from $1.759 million to $588,000, if he doesn’t at that time.
That’s $1.2 million dollars he would lose if he doesn’t sign the offer sheet by the June date.
If, in the interim, he suffers a season-ending injury during offseason workouts, he’ll be guaranteed to receive his $1.759 million salary for 2010.
