According to DallasNews.com, Dallas Cowboys middle linebacker Keith Brooking who has become a leader of the Cowboys defense will miss the organized team activities when they began next week at Valley Ranch.
Brooking recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee will take at least a few weeks to rehab before he can take part in the defensive drills.
The work will be without pads, so it won’t be a big deal if he misses it.
It’s going to give an opportunity for last year’s 3rd round draft pick Jason Williams and this year’s 2nd rookie pick Sean Lee to show what they can do in Brooking’s spot.¬† He’s still expected to be the guy in that position when the season begins.
Many Cowboys onlookers believe Williams will be the guy to take over the nickel duties because of his athleticism and speed.  Lee is expected to backup Brooking at his inside linebacker spot.
The Cowboys will have OTA’s next week and June 11-13.¬† Brooking is expected to be back during those workouts.
