Lidge Has Returned To Philadelphia Due To Stiffness In His Elbow Area

Brad Lidge abruptly left the team in Colorado and took a flight back to Philadelphia and is currently in town because his elbow tightened up last night.¬† It hasn’t been feeling good since the last time he came out of the bullpen.¬† He had expressed disappointment last night after tossing the ball back and forth with Chad Durbin.

“It didn’t really feel like I wanted it to,” he said to Philly.com writer Matt Gelb after the toss with Durbin.

Phils assistant general manager Scott Proefrock said he didn’t think there would be a problem last night, but obviously that has changed over night.

Of course he’s returning to action after off season elbow and knee surgery.¬† The elbow was operated on in order to remove bone chips which had developed from the stress on the elbow over the years of his career.

Lidge had kept the injuries to himself until the season was over a year ago, but this year he’s obviously decided to be forthright with his physical ailments.

I think you could put the proverbial “fork” in Lidge’s season..
It’s time to go out and get some bullpen help now..
With Romero ineffective and Madson out to probably late July at the best, they cannot continue to
only rely of Durbin,Baes and Contreros or they will end up being overused and get injured or become ineffective…
Bobbie Jenks, JJ Putz from White Sox are supposedly available
The Phils will need to act quickly or their season could be in jeopardy…
Where have you gone Brett Myers…
