Celek On ESPN’s NFL Live Talking Up Their Young Offense

Eagles tight end Brent Celek was just on ESPN’s NFL Live and he talked about some of the positives new quarterback Kevin Kolb will bring to the table when the season starts in September.

The tight end says Kolb will get the ball out of his hands quickly and he’ll be very accurate with his throws. After looking at the mini camps, I believe Celek is going to have more receptions than any of the Eagles receivers.

Kolb already looks for him immediately and has confidence that the tight end will be where he expects him to be.

Celek ,who is one of Kolb’s best friends says all of the receivers will have a good idea where the quarterback will be going with the ball depending on what defense they’re up against.

The host of the show revealed that Celek also went on Twitter yesterday and guaranteed that the Cleveland Cavaliers would beat the Celtics last night.

He predicted that the Dallas Cowboys would be the Birds toughest competition next year in the NFC East.

He later told the panel that the Eagles would beat the Cowboys twice next year when they play them.

What is with this group? They all seem to have diarrhea of the mouth. I don’t hear Brady or Manning talking like this, and they’ve got “field cred.” I get the feeling that they’ll get a chance to see what McNabb went through with the media. Jackson got a small taste of it and he’s done complete reversal. I wouldn’t be surprised if, by Game 8, they’re all ll saying “No comment.”

This is their first opportunity to go out and talk because they had breakout years last year and they’re kind of becoming the face of the team. Plus with the McNabb trade their the hot topic around the league so everyone wants to talk to them.

But yeah I hope they (especially Jackson) learn from this and distance themselves as much as possible from the media.

Gib, I recall the Eagles being completely outclassed by Dallas at the end of the season. Following the first Dallas game, Jackson said we’d “stang they -_ _ _,” but the second Dallas game was worse than the first, and Jackson was completely shut down. How was that a breakout season?

honestly, talk is talk, I don’t care what they say. I want them to perform on the field, everything else is harmless.

Come on, let them have fun. And surely you want them to be confident and even brash, not still in the shadow of McNabb . They are coming together as a new young group and saying they can get it done. Telling everybody, “We are the young Turks.” What’s wrong with that? This is more fun for me than the s.o.s.

I think Desaun said that about Dallas before the playoff game and didn’t get it done on the field. No one said they couldn’t get it done. I just think it’s better to do it before you say you will. If they seek prominence and power, action is more effective than talk. especially to the media.

I agree. They are gonna take there lumps but they need to stay humble and shhhhhhh! If they prove it on the field, then let them have fun and go off.

I’t a natural progression as the team has changed personnel…
For the last 10 years its been McNabb & Westbrook commented or being approach by the Media and basically have been the Faces and Voices of the Eagle Offense… Now it’s Kolb,D-Jax,Maclin,Celek,McCoy,Avant,Weaver who will all share in the spotlight in the good times and bad..
(now if Winston Justice starts giving interviews, then I may get concerned..)

Big E, you got it! The Young Tongues!

I’m all for talking. In fact, that’s what I loved about Buddy Ryan. His teams had swagger, but they could back it up (at least on defense). The House of Pain Game remains an all-time favorite.

I also loved it when the Eagles went into Chicago, circling the block, with horns blaring. Of course, they lost in the fog bowl, but they were a good team.

The point is, Buddy’s teams had swagger, but they earned it on the field, first. They established themselves as one of the most dominant defenses in the NFL. Then they went about the business of trying to psyche out the opponent.

I’ll be ecstatic if this team is talking in December and January. Hell, anyone can “talk” a good game in May. These guys have done absolutely nothing. They were totally embarrassed at the end of last season, and they’re running their mouths as if they’d set the world on fire. It seems they’re implying that they lost because of McNabb. Okay, if that’s the case, they should, first, make it to the playoffs.

There’s a huge difference in quarterbacking for two games and quarterbacking at the end of the season, when you’ve got bumps and bruises, the air has turned cold and division games loom on the horizon. If this team is talking at that point, they will have earned the right to do so.

The funny thing is I hear these guys talking about what Kolb is going to do, but I don’t hear Kolb making any predictions. The fact of the matter is, Kolb is an unknown commodity. We’ve seen glimpses of both the good and the bad. We hope he’s the real deal, but no one knows for sure. The NFL has seen its share of one-hit wonders. So, why are these guys run their mouths? If I was going to run my mouth, I’d be talking about what “I” was going to do in the upcoming season, not what someone else is going to do.

Whey they say they’re going to beat Dallas twice, they’re also speaking for the defense. They know about as much about our defense as the fans. No one has even seen these guys practice in pads.

I have never seen an NFL team where both the offense and defense are ranked No. 1 in the league. Each year, one side of the ball plays better than the other. I don’t hear the defense laying claim to any championships. If the defense doesn’t play well this year, are these “Young Tongues” going to carry the load or blame Sean McDermott?

Excellent point drummer! They should really do it on the field. If they can get it done then I say talk all you want. Be humble before you do it, then if you get it done you can be as proud as you want and talk all you want. Last time I looked it was a complete meltdown by the entire team, not jut the QB, so no one on this team needs to be smelling themselves as much as I’ve seen. I like the fact that none of this “Young Gunz” nonsense seems to be coming from Kolbs mouth. He is showing leadership by focusing and just working hard.

Celek buddy….”Newsflash”, the quarterback you created a repoire with and help you rack up those numbers….you know the pro bowl quarterback mcnabb? He’s a redskin. Get ready to stay in and block to help kolb stay alive, for Andy have not addressed the center position, and the new manoquin you all are excited about can not allude Betty White up the middle, let alone a Dallas pass rush. Mcnabb at least had the size to shake off defenders, and the athletism to buy time and get you the ball when the play broke down. Enjoy the Light now and remember when the lights go out..Mcnabb invited you in to the light he made his career playing in. This will be a loooooooooooong year buddy.
Vick get ready!!!!

Paul Mancini was correct in his analysis. It was real boring under #5, talk that was just boring, bland, meaningless nothingness and air guitar. Now they are flexing their muscles a little bit, coming out from the shadows. A little brash, some fun, hey, it’s great! It’s not boring! They are not politicians, they are showing camaraderie and spunk and fun.

Wait Song, uh, Song man, I think I just figured something out – do you have a ‘set in stone’ opinion of Kolb? One that couldn’t be affected but things like reason, logic, reality, or what happens with the season begins or games are played? Could it be that you are biased and perhaps, unreasonable? Yep – I got it. Thing is – your hubris is so foolish that you forgot the fact that most people are aware that Kolb and Celek are very tight. You forget the fact that if there’s a stereotype that, solely based on NFL games played, could be applied to Kolb? That would be that he LOVES throwing to Celek and that if nothing else, he will look to Celek as a safety valve on passing plays. NEWSFLASH – he’s already Kevin’s favorite target…

is it me or does swagger actually come when you have acconplish wins and put up big numbers as an offense, as wel as beat division rivials. this group of guys have not done that yet with kolb at the helm. in short celek and jackson are putting pressure on an offense that may not live up to all this swagger and hype. in other words young birds ” don’t write checks your asses can’t cash”.

Hey fansince1960 the Eagles for the last 11 years can be called a lot of things but boring they most certainly were not. All of you that hate McNabb blindly were given a lot you could chew on every week by McNabb himself. Whether it be his innocuous comments that were taken and turned into something nefarious or the silly dancing things he did either on the sideline or before games that ultimately had ZERO outcome on games but stll caused those who disliked him greatly to breakout into slathering bouts of hysteria. Those who could somehow discern from their comfortable living rooms behind tv screens hundreds of miles away that McNabb smiling after a bad play doesn’t really care as much as them were given plenty of ammunition to vent. At no time after five championship game appearances and one Super Bowl was it ever boring.

is there a chance Kolb might suck? If he sucks what would be the result team wise? Can anyone answer these questions?

if kolb stinks up the joint then we will hear some excuse by the front office that he may need a couple of years to feel comfortable in the offense. which goes back to the vick factor. why else would the coach play vick 12 – 15 a game? the answer is vick is a fall back plan if or kolb’s so called quick release leads to pick six interceptions that would out of sink.

Hey Bad Man Troy. The Eagles haven’t been boring the last 11 years at all. But the not winning the Superbowl became boring. The S.O.S. became boring. The knowledge the Eagles weren’t built to win a Superbowl became boring. I think McNabb was a big part of that problem. Just making it to playoffs and losing became boring. I didn’t care about the smiling, I figured that was a nervous tic.

does anyone thnk this team can win 11 games or make a deep playoff run with kolb at the helm this year? that to me would make this year’s team boring.
