Rollins expected to come off the DL Tuesday?

While some members of the media were predicting a return to the lineup this weekend for Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, it looks like it might have to wait until next week. Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweets that Charlie Manuel is thinking more like Tuesday.

“Charlie estimates a Tuesday return for Jimmy Rollins. Could change. #Phillies,” he tweets with appropriate use of hashtags.

With all the losing going on around here, the temptation would be to get him back in the lineup as soon as possible. But as we all know, that didn’t work out so well the first time so they need to be cautious.

That said…Jimmy, they need you back in the lineup. Wilson Valdez just doesn’t do it for me.

In other Phillies news, they sent Antonio Bastardo to the DL and brought up Scott Matheison.

They brought him back too soon last time and have been paying the price ever since..
I would try to keep him out back until 4th of July weekend or even the All-Start Break but the way they are playing, they really have no choice but to get him back in the line-up since the entire team has struggled big time during his absence…(I bet the Phils wished they didn’t agree to his option year for 2011 for $10 million.. his body is breaking down and another bad move by Reuben)
