According to MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki, the Philadelphia Phillies could activate shortstop Jimmy Rollins today before the start of their series with the Cleveland Indians. Rollins is on the DL for the second time this year with a calf issue.
Whether or not it happens today, it’s safe to say that it will happen soon. As to who will lose their spot to Rollins, that’s anyone’s guess.
Manuel clearly likes Wilson Valdez over Juan Castro, even though that doesn’t mean much. Zolecki correctly points out that cutting Castro could be problems since Rollins hasn’t been able to stay healthy this year. What happens if he suffers another set back?
Carlos Ruiz could be the guy if his head tests haven’t gone well. Or, it could be any one of a handful of garbage pitchers in the bullpen. We’ll all have to wait to find out.
Put 2b Utley on the 15-Day disabled list and hope that he’s healthy for 2nd half run..
Meanwhile have Dobbs/Castro play 3rd and Polanco move to 2B while Utley is out and recovering.
Once after All-Star break, Activate Utley, release Castro and recall OF D brown and trade RF J Werth
or CF S Victorine for a Closer/PItching prospects
Dobbs got designated!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!! I am so sick of a guaranteed out every time he steps up to the plate. He has been absolute garbage this year. Maybe if he gets some everyday reps in AAA, he’ll come back and not be a worthless piece of crap.
