I thought something was up when Sixers coach Doug Collins didn’t accompany the team’s GM Ed Stefanski and Assistant GM Tony DiLeo to the podium to talk about their first pick, but Collins came along later and raved about Evan Turner.
Stefanski said he was their guy all along and Collins said the same thing.¬† There were rumors circulating that Favors was Collins’ guy but he denied it.
He talked about his competitiveness, maturity, and scoring ability.¬† Collins made believe he was on board all along, but if he wasn’t we’re going to find that out in the near future.
“I want to make it clear I was an Evan Turner guy from Moment One,” Collins said.
“We are very excited to select a player with the all-around skill and talent of Evan Turner,” Stefanski said. “We think he will step in from the first day and make an impact on this team on both ends of the floor.”
Young point guard Jrue Holiday seemed to be pleased by the fact that the team’s brain trust had drafted Turner to play beside him in the backcourt.
Power forward Thaddeus Young who had showed up with ten pounds of added muscle, feels the addition of Collins and Turner will help the team step up their defensive intensity and competitive spirit.
Thaddeus Young NEEDS TO LEARN TO PLAY DEFENSE FIRST.
