Vick Ends Controversy For Me With: “There Should Have Never Been A Party”

I saw a very positive thing involving Michael Vick this morning on MyFoxPhilly.com.  He was asked a quick question on his way to his vehicle after coming out of a Philadelphia courthouse.

He had an appointment there as part of his probation agreement.

An interviewer asked him if he had been railroaded by the media for the last few weeks after his birthday party and the shooting which occurred immediately following it.

Vick said, “no, not at all, there should have never been a party.”

With that he ended the controversy for me.¬† That shows me how much he has grown as a person and this incident is over as far as I’m concerned.¬† If he talked to the police, the Eagles and the NFL, I can see why they’re standing behind him. He took responsibility and pointed no fingers as well as admitting he was wrong for attending the party.

He could have put this thing to bed publicly immediately after it happened by saying something earlier in the process.  I can understand that his lawyer might not have wanted him out running his mouth publicly but he should have never been involved with the party.

He really didn’t do anything wrong at the party after going to it.

G oh now vick didn’t do nothing wrong. It’s funny how you report all the hear say rumors about vick party like they are facts. I still haven’t seen one video of vick leaving.. A cake incident.. Altercation in parking lot or vick associating with Phillips. But you were reporting like all that was fact. You can’t try to convict him in the court of public opinion then all of a sudden say he did nothin wrong. Which one is it.

G. never reported those things and neither did I. We passed along the reports of others, which just about every single media outlet does. We may form opinions based on those reports (just like everyone else), but we didn’t “report” anything regarding this incident. Big difference.

And for the record, when we pass along these reports, we don’t present them as facts. We present them as someone else reporting it, which is exactly what it is.

I hope you are right G. I think Vick gets one “near miss” and this was it. Next thing that happens and he is outta here. I really hope he gets his life together. So much talent to be wasted if he fails. He was never a classic QB, but he could make plays and create excitement. I don’t think he fits the Eagles scheme or long term plans, but he can still rehabilitate himself and end up a success in his life. I am rooting for him to do so.

That’s very easy to say after the fact G …. C’mon Man….
It’s like Crying after the Milk has spilled, or the Syrup is already out of the bottle,
or the Jeannie is out of the Vase, or the Dog has already peed on the Carpet…
I am not buying any of it … If it’s a bad Idea a week after the fact, It was a bad Idea before they were planning it….

All I am saying G is why isn’t there a “Bright Lightbulb” going off before the fact…
While planning the Party, does it ever occur to him or any of his close associates/advisors that there may be some unsavory characters who show up and start trouble and that maybe this is a bad idea…
and then when his brother and others start publicizing it all over the place on Twitter & Facebook for anyone to attend for a fee, how could anyone expect that there wouldn’t be any problems or issues
This entire event was just foolish and stupid to begin with and show his still lack of smarts and common sense and good judgement..If I was a player, I wouldn’t want him leading my huddle or team..

It’s funny how this is suppose to be a site of fans who support E-A-G-L-E-S football, and yet there are those who would rather focus on negative events and disgraceful words which they seem to be more concerned with that they can’t do anything about. If I can recall; back in the (60’s), there were those who actually killed people for their race and religious beliefs, not what they did in sports, and there were actually dogs who participated in those events. Again, I don’t support what Vick did to the dogs, but when a man is trying to change his life around for the better and he’s on my team, I’ll support him so long as he doesn’t make the same mistake again and is trying to avoid troublesome situations.Sometimes Senility will make people say things; which, if they had any good common sense and were in their right frame of mind, they wouldn’t say. A lot of you guys here make plenty of sense. Others here may need to go see a doctor to get a senility test done to see if they’re starting to lose their mind (for if they don’t, it will progressively get much worse.) Peace

Yes, Rocko, and as a result of America’s past, many guilt-ridden people make excuses for predatory or violent behavior. It is your philosophy that is “old-school” and has failed. For America to advance, we need equality of opportunity, equality under the law, and stop excusing and looking the other way when ugly and violent behavior occurs. I’d like to see more compassion in America for the victims of crimes, and fewer third and fourth chances. Right on!

Please correct me if I’m wrong but were there or were there not other “White Parties” to be had in Vicks name? Have these been canceled? What is there to be said about those?
