So far the Eagles have stood by Michael Vick day after day despite the birthday party, the shooting and despite reports of him having confrontations at the end of the party that night.¬† They’ve stood behind him despite a deluge of negative reports day after day and week after week.
The Eagles decision-makers, head coach Andy Reid and team president Joe Banner haven’t been in the Philadelphia area, so it’s hard to tell whether they’re truly still behind Vick.¬† They’re currently vacationing but they will be back on the scene next week. Then we will really be able to tell whether they’re still willing to support him after that major mishap.
What has looked like support for Vick could quickly change after those decision-makers sit down and talk.  Next week, the week before training camp will tell the story on Vick.
I don’t know whether the Eagles will hang onto or release him before training camp but he’s given them reason to part ways with him if they choose to do so.¬† I don’t think they will say good-bye to Vick because Reid seems intent on playing a hand in the rehabilitation of Vick.
It’s as if he wants to pay God back for giving him another chance with his own sons, who had gotten into trouble with the law.¬† You can believe that Reid spent a good deal of time in prayer during the time his sons were in jail.¬† He’s even admitted that the experience he endured with his two boys has given him a different perspective concerning Vick.
Another decision-maker regarding Vick’s movements from place to place and state to state has made a decision.¬† His probation officer has tightened the parameters on Michael by not allowing him to leave the state of Pennsylvania.¬† I think this was a good decision now and probably one which should have been made earlier.
First of all let’s get this straight, Vick’s life isn’t his own right now.¬† He doesn’t enjoy the freedom’s that you and I do, because he’s a convicted felon who is still on probation.
We don’t have to report to anyone when we leave the state but Vick has to inform his probation officer of his comings and goings. I think it’s a good thing that Vick’s probation officer isn’t going to repeat the mistake of letting him leave Pennsylvania to attend events in other states.
Some of you may think the probation officer is being overly restrictive of Vick but as far as I’m concerned, he’s merely properly doing his job.¬† Vick’s judgment wasn’t sufficient to keep him away from trouble, so the probation officer is giving him some help by not allowing him to attend a football camp in Virginia and a golf tournament in Georgia.
I wouldn’t have had a problem with Vick going to the golf tournament and football camp, if he hadn’t attended the birthday party at the night club.¬† The fact that his judgment didn’t lead him to avoid the birthday party would limit what I would allow him to do, if I were his probation officer.
I think the story is already known by the Eagles F/O
This is ViIck’s final season here in PHiladelphia, what little chance he had to remain in Philadelphia
after the 2010 season is completely gone now.. Vick wants an opportunity to start in the NFL,but to
be honest, is very unlikely he gets that chance with anyone in 2011 unless he plays often and well enough in a back-up role this season which could happen if Kolb were to get injured…
