LeSean McCoy had a very impressive practice this morning as he showed his ability to run in between the tackles and find daylight in between the blocks inside.
The former Pittsburgh Panthers has great vision and is able to find a way to get through the smallest of holes.¬† McCoy has put on some weight and looks stronger than he did a year ago.¬† He’s carrying the football securely which is going to be one of the biggest challenges he confronts, staying away from fumbles.
I like the way the second year back is running north and south and not getting caught running sideline to sideline.¬† He’s getting north and south much quicker than he did in the 2009 season.
McCoy is a burner who runs a 4.3 forty-yard dash, so it’ll be vital for him to hit the hole quickly and not get caught dancing in the backfield.¬† He runs stronger and take less time to make his decisions.
I also liked the way he’s catching the football out of the backfield.¬† He did drop a ball today and got popped by linebacker Ernie Sims.¬† Sims is having trouble not hitting receivers in the 7 on 7 drills which are supposed to be no contact plays.
The second-year back talked about how former Eagles running back Duce Staley has helped him with the mental part of the game.¬† Staley has emphasized the importance of anticipating what the other team is going to do.¬† He talked to McCoy about putting in the time in the video room so he knows what he’s going to see from the opposing defense.
A big 2nd Season by McCoy will really make this Eagles offense as Dynamic as any in the NFL
and very tough to defend… Who do you key on as a Defense… Double team D-Jax or Celek leaving
the Defenses short a man versus the run/screens to McCoy, then Maclin is running a 15 yd crossing pattern with Avant doing a button-hook 12 yards down on the other side… lots of weapons….
Great stuff G. We finally seem to have a solid offense, hopefully the defense will show up as well.
Well…with this new O perhaps we can consistantly sustain drives keeping our D on the bench. That would keep them fresh and hungry.
I agree WWW and I think we will see a much more ball-controlled type of Offensive play calling by the Eagles for this reason as well as easing in Kolb as gets more NFL starts under his belt..
yeah…call runs to protect the golden boy……he’ll still throw more picks than Mcnabb in a ball controlled offense
The task is to keep the chains moving, eat up some clock and manage the time clock better which was
something #05 was never able to master and in fact, #05 was/is probably one of the worst in QB’s in the NFL when it comes to clock management, and is McNabb’s biggest weakness as a QB. He just never got it down…maybe he will improve under Shanahan..
