Some notes from Giants camp

I could not be more excited about all of the football news. It’s information overload and I’m thrilled after sifting through non-stories for several weeks during the dead period.

So, let’s take a look at some of what’s going on in training camp for the New York Giants:

-According to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, RB Ahmad Bradshaw “looks as fast and as shifty as ever.” Bradshaw had three surgeries in the offseason, one on each foot and one on his ankle. This same newspaper reported last week that Bradshaw was hobbling around. Guess that wasn’t accurate? Vacchiano says that he doesn’t seem to be feeling the effects of all those surgeries. At least he didn’t have to spend a month in jail this offseason!

-Shaun O’Hara had an ankle injury swell up on him and missed the rest of the day. He was hitting the bike on the sidelines. It’s been bothering him for some time, and they had Rich Seubert take his snaps at center.

-WR Ramses Barden made a great comeback, diving catch today, according to several New York writers. Still, Tom Coughlin barked at Barden and QB Rhett Bomar, ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs not enough to have a good practice, you‚Äôve got to have a good camp.‚Äù Barden is intriguing. He’s 6’6″ tall and one heck of a huge target. Giants fans keep predicting big things out of this kid, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Yes, he’s huge, but the Giants are deep at WR and that will limit his reps. Last year, the talk was that he couldn’t get off press coverage. You can’t really play in the NFL if you can’t get off the line. So, we’ll see.

-FB Madison Hedgecock has had better days. He had a couple short swing passes hit the carpet.

-CB Corey Webster made a terrific one-handed interception of an Eli Manning pass that was intended for Mario Manningham, according to Vacchiano. That made up for a play where he was torched by Steve Smith on a deep pattern. That pretty much sounds like Corey Webster’s career in a nutshell, right?

-RB Andre Brown looks like he has his quickness back after losing his entire rookie season to a torn Achilles tendon. They like Brown, and they better. Brandon Jacobs and Bradshaw will inevitably get hurt. Could you imagine who would have more to lose than Brandon Jacobs if they go to an 18-game season? He’d never make it.

-The Giants are most likely going to go with Hakeem Nicks as the starting split end opposite Steve Smith, who will be the flanker. That would make sense, he was their first-round pick last year. Nicks did put a couple passes on the ground, but that is rare for him. It took several days into his first training camp last year before he finally dropped one. Those are going to be two nice starters for the Giants.

-Jonathan Goff started Giants camp as the starting middle linebacker. Newly acquired Keith Bulluck took reps with the two’s and three’s, but he’s battling back from an ACL injury, so he’ll get worked in slowly.

thanx, doesn’s sound like a great starat for them…
I do like that RB R Brown a lot and was a shame he missed all of last season, He could be a real dark horse to emerge from Camp for I think this will be B Jacobs final season with the Giants..
They sa Bexchkam is most talented TE the Giants have had in many years, more of a pass-receiving,spread the field type of TE that ELi has never really had.. Even Shockey in his prime was more of the typical 8-10 yrds routes, tuen around and catch the ball and get tackled, they say this kid has some horses ……
