Jeremy Maclin Goes Down With Hyperextended Left Knee Injury And Is Carted Off

It was near the end of a short afternoon practice as the Eagles were going through a hurry up drill, when star wide receiver Jeremy Maclin ran a comeback route and quarterback Kevin Kolb threw the ball to tight end Brent Celek, but the action took place where Maclin was running his route.

Nobody knows exactly what happened after that but at the end of the play, Maclin lay on the grass grabbing his left knee in pain.

Soon the trainers and head coach Andy Reid were standing over him.  The cart was called for then after a long stretch the on the ground, Maclin was helped onto the cart and taken off.

I have no idea exactly how serious it was but after Maclin was put on the cart and headed to the training room, Reid called the team together, said something to them, then called an end to practice.

They had done just about all they were going to do this afternoon but Maclin’s injury definitely hastened the end of practice.

I’ve just learned that it was a hyperextended left knee injury and they’re still in the process of evaluating it.

I hope it’s only a hyper extended and only for a little while. He’s obviously took a big step up from last year as far as how he looks in camp and looks to be a bonafide #1 WR but missing too much time could set him back just a little more. How come Hank Baskett can never get injured? It’s always the important players.

Now it’s time for Avant,R Cooper, K Washington and my main man, D Collins to step and make plays…
and get more snaps.
Hopefully for Maclin with just an hyperextension, he will be up and running around in about week or so…
What’s with Philaldelphia this year.. Injuries to half the Phillies and now the Eagles are falling like
“flyers” and it’s only the 1st week of Training Camp… Can we blame D McNabb at least…

LOL @ Paulman. Yeah it’s the McNabb jinx on the Eagles and the Cliff Lee jinx on the Phillies. All the scrubs are healthy it’s our key players getting a little banged up. I know most of them aren’t serious, I just don’t want them to be nagging injuries all year long.

Everyone take a big sigh of relief…….

Later, Maclin left the fieldhouse saying he felt relieved.

“Hyperextended my knee a little bit,” he said. “Should be all right, though.”

Asked for a timetable, he said: “We’ll see. Should be all right, though.”

“It is (a relief),” he said, when prompted. “Nobody wants to experience anything that’s season-ending or anything like that”

“I just kinda got stuck in the ground, man, my leg just kinda buckled on me a little bit.”

Since when is Maclin considered a “star wide receiver?”

I’m still rooting for Chad Hall to make the squad.
