Donovan McNabb hasn’t changed since he jumped on 95 south and went to Washington. He still throws balls into the ground and he can still make the deep throw with the best of them. He continues to take care of the football, but he’s not getting much help from his defense after three games into the season.
McNabb does have some deep speed at the wide receiver position in veterans Santana Moss and Joey Galloway, so the Eagles had better be ready for play action passes downfield. I think he’ll have success against the Birds downfield against Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs, if their offensive line will give him the time.
In my opinion, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham and companies should be able to dominate the Redskins offensive tackles. They will have to get to McNabb to prevent big plays downfield.
Skins head coach Mike Shanahan was supposed to be a genius when it came to running the football. Shanahan’s brain must have froze during his time away from the game because he foolishly signed two ancient running backs Larry Johnson and Willie Parker, during the off season.
Nobody could believe it. Everybody knew Johnson and Parker were over the hill, but Shanahan didn’t know it.
Now they have the injury-plagued Clinton Portis carrying the ball and he’s backed up by the Ryan Torian, Kelland Williams and Chad Simpson. Be honest, have you ever heard of any of these backup running backs.
McNabb does have a good tight end, Chris Cooley, which could allow him to do some damage against the Birds. Cooley will be a factor in the red zone and out in the open field. He must have a big game, if the Skins are to have any real chance.
I think McNabb is in Washington for a year, then he will probably wind up in Minnesota with Brad Childress. Only a fool would stay on the ship in Washington with an old Shanahan is running into the ground.
We r going to panic him(sad to say which is not to diffucult anymore) with our pass rush. Once this happnes one of two things is going to happen. Throws into the dirt like g said or nate allen and samuel may have a field day no matter how well mcnabb takes care of the ball. This should be a fun game to watch.
It doesn’t matter either way IMO. First, they have to GET to the redzone, then even if they do they’ll settle for FG’s.
LOL your on a roll today WWW
Giants will lose gainst the Bears..Were gonna beat the ‘Skins..3-1 going into week 5..Vick is gonna fan the flames of the NFL MVP talk…this is all good.
@E4E…and I wasn’t even trying to be funny on that one..I’m serious. If we can win the field position battle I think we can contain them enough to where they beat themselves in the end. McNabb might be able to play well but I don’t think he has enough command to rally the rest of the team if things go south fast.
Roccas’ been great punting so far and should be able to pin them back…and once they’re in the house..don’t let them out.
JMac..very true about the GMen…I just don’t see them pulling it together this year.
Good point WWW. I do apoligze as well thought you were taking a jab at our sometimes awful redzone offense with Mcnabb. You r correct though they r lacking the big homerun threats and Mcanbb is past being able to win games by himself.
Cooley and Moss. That is it. Take away those guys (if possible) and you win.
Regardless what we might think…we must still remain hungry and not underestimate this team. The last thing we need to hear on Monday is..”Those of you who though Portis was done were proven wrong last night” or something like that. This is a beatable team and we need to play them like they’re the 15-0 Pats.
The Skins are reeling right now and we can sink them a bit more come Wednesday. But we don’t want to wind up being their springboard. Beat them like they owe us money!
Come Sunday…sorry.
Key is Eagles is to rush McNAbb and get him moving to his left and not to his right.
J Parker/Graham or whover is rushing from the DE Position need to keep outside containment and don’t let him outside that pocket (to his right) which is when and where he’s most dangerous from..
Also look for a big game by T Cole who is going against Rookie T Williams who is a little banged up and will have his hands full trying to block Cole
One of the biggest McNabb Myths: He throws a great deep ball.
Total bunk. Most of his deep throws are off target. He often leads the receiver towards the middle of the field, back in towards the safety.
D-Jax several times last year had to slow and wait for the ball.. he was just so far beyond the D it didn’t matter.
McNabb’s best throws are of the 10-25 yard variety.. he throws a good sideline route
Mcnabb is 6 for 33 on 3rd downs. Enough said. Nothing has changed.
Another bit on his great deep throws…
How many times at the end of the half did you see McNabb throw a hailmary that ended up OUT OF THE ENDZONE? I swear it had to be at least 50% of them.
these set of comments are just funny to me
i wont even comment on them

wow ur name is kevin kolb and u comment on d5 lol
ur comment should be deleted
mugzy you are an idiot if you think he doesn’t throw the deep ball with the best of them. That means it’s relative. While you would like to point out only McNabb, you have to compare to the entire league. If he’s on target deep MORE THAN MOST QBS then that means he’s one of the best at it. It’s all relative. Everyone knows that McNabb’s struggle is the short passes. Listening to guys like you would mean that he’s not good at anything. Now how ridiculous is that?
@well well well.
I agree 100%. This team has been burned too many times in the past by an injury prone Portis. He might not be a stud but he still got some gas left in the tank. I don’t see this game being as easy as it looks on paper. Its gonna be a dog fight for sure.
wow i didnt know this was an easy game on paper now i see y g posted the sb article lol
G, I agree that if we take away the big plays then there should be no problems winning this game. I don’t think it will be easy because it’s a division game but I’d be surprise if we lose. We do know that Hobbs and Samuel are susceptible to being beat deep. So as long as they keep the receivers in front we should be good. It will be interesting to see if we can defend Cooley.
Good test for Nate Allen and Q Mikell to help out deep – want to see that LB speed on Coley and that ramped up DL continue pressure from last week –
on the field position note above –
anyone take notice of how well Rocco is punting – I know it changes later in the year – but the dude is kicking the crap out of the ball
Unbelievable hatred for the best QB in franchise history. Its all his fault we didnt win. Wow. Why is everyone so confident?
I’m with you ozzman. McNabb was not only a great QB for us for many years, but now he is a formidable opponent. He has been very successful throughout his career beating team with superior talent. Do we have superior talent than the skins, top to bottom of the roster I would say yes. Does McNabb make up for deficiencies, yes. It will be a tough fought game by both teams, I believe we will prevail but comes Sunday when McNabb comes out of the tunnel I will show him the respect he deserves and i hope the rest of the Philadelphia fans at the Linc will do the same.
@Navy. I think Rocca is #2 or 3 right now as far as net punting yards. Not a shank that I’ve heard of yet and that could be key.
Allen and Mikell will be tested for sure and we don’t need another taste of what Rodgers and jennings did week 1. McNabb will be allowed to let a few off the chains and he will. As long as we play like our ass is on fire we can win. This is a winable game, but also loseable too, remember the Raiders??? I don’t want to get caught in a trap game situation. Start fast and don’t let off the gas.
2 Players Eagles D need to watch out for are the 2nd TE, Fred Davis, who is very athletic and can stretch the field as a TE and also their back-up/3rd Down RB Ryan Torian who at 6-1′ 220 lbs can run & catch for a big guy and has decent speed if he gets loose in the secondary on screens, wheelhouse routes, etc, etc
As far as the McNabb bashing,
Philadelphians never really appreciate their Athletes until they are retired and gone for a while…
(Brian Westbrook/Brian Dawkins are probably a few of the exceptions)
It is what it is, in the “City of Brotherly Love”…
McNabb will get the appreciation and love in about 5 years from now, but no sooner and definietly not while he’s playing for a Division Rival..
yes ozz i agree
especially through a summer of hearing eagle fans defend a scrub
its ridiculous
Nate Allen is bringing it so far..Dude is always where he’s supposed to be..great rookie!
Just something I am surprised which hasn’t been brought up yet..
P Sav Rocca is #2/#3 in net Punt Average…
Don’t you guys know that he was punting against crappy teams…and one game was almost indoors at Ford Field in Detroit..
@PM****Breaking News****
Just discovered in an undercover investigation..Sav Roccas K Balls were replaced on the field with K Balls filled with Helieum. I knew it had to be comething…
Sounds like Rocca has hired the former Crew Chief from Nascar’s T Bowyer’s team… ha
