Bunkley, Peters, Jackson Out, Vick May Be 2nd QB

Andy Reid says Michael Vick could be the second quarterback for Sunday’s Eagles-Titans game.  The left-hander went through the team’s full workout yesterday and today.  He’s listed as questionable for the game.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson, defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley and  left offensive tackle Jason Peters are definitely out of Sunday’s game.

Reid wouldn’t committ to him being the second quarterback, but he did seem confident about Vick after the bye week.

As you would expect, Vick says he’s ready to go.

“I can throw the ball, and I can throw it full strength and effectively, so that’s a credit to the training staff getting me back into a position where I can go out and perform,” Vick said after practice today according to Philly.com. “If the situation calls for me to go out and play, then I’ll be ready.”

The Birds had a workout today where they focus on red zone offense and defense.  They also look at specific areas of the game where they need to focus.

I can see Kolb starting and then, regardless of how he does, good or bad, Vick takes over the second half as a kind of “what, you guys didn’t see that coming?”

There’s no way Vick plays this week unless Kolb gets hurt I believe..
He’s still healing and resting up for game after the BYE WEEK..

PW – couldn’t reinjuring his ribs and having to miss much more time come back to bite them a whole lot more than a potential loss in Tennessee?

I was mearly suggesting a hypothetical there PW, not instigating an argument on who the starter should be. When AR decides, Vick will be the #1 again. Probably after the bye week just to be sure. The extra time off can only be good for him but at least he’s at a point that he can play if needed.

Vick will be the Starter in 2 weeks when the Colts come to town
He will suit up this week and be the #3 Emergency QB and only play if Kolb & Kafka get injured
So let is be written, so let it be done (as Yuhl Brehner stated as King Ramses in Cecil B Demille’s
the “Ten Commandments” for you younger folks out there)
By the way, is their a better name for a Movie Director than Cecil B DeMille….

Vick shouldnt play this week at all! I’ll be highly upset if we see him come on the field for a few snaps (like first half of the GB game) hopefully the O line can do a good job in protection (I’m a little concerned about this though, Titans lead the league in sacks I believe) If the defense plays like last week, and Marty and Andy call the game the way the did… I think we’ll coast to victory regardless whos at the QB!

Titans are one of the leaders in INT”s, but they also give up a lot of passing yards (27th in the NFL in that regards)

RT777-actually Ten is #2 in the NFL currently in causing negative pass plays, 14% of dropbacks result in a sack, INT, batted ball, or pass break up. Cold Hard Football Facts .com bro. These 2 teams are alot closer than we think.

I think they are jerking the Titan’s chain. He won’t play until after the bye week when he is really healthy. Sending him out while he is still sore invites a season long, nagging injury that Vick does not need. Kolb is doing fine, make a smart gameplan, stay balanced, then get everybody back for the Colts after the bye.

With that being said, “Ten is #2 in the NFL currently in causing negative pass plays”

Tennesse gives up a lot of passing yards, but leads in sacks and INT’s.(27th in passing yards)…not sure what you are disputing in my comment?
if Eagles can protect Kolb and minimize the sacks and our defense shows up, I think we’ll win this game in convincing fashion! I’m not too worried about the Titans passing game…I’m concerned about CJ having a big game though! we have struggled against the run at times!

Interesting factoid of the day – the birds have the #4 offense in the NFL right now – #8 ranked passing and #8 ranked rushing. So…. Andy the pass happy one has the #8 ranked rushing offense –

RT777- sorry man, I wasn’t disputing ur comment, just adding my own newly discovered nugget of info. I believe that if we can get the passing game going in rythem then our ability of YAC can quiet this Ten Defense a bit however the OLine will need to minimize the Negaitve pass ability of their rush to succede

Tennessee has the # 3 rushing and #29 passing to be the #26 ranked O

Eagles D is # 11 overall 22 against the run 9 against the pass

Tenn D is # 16 8 against the run 23 against the pass….

And we can get killed by the run if Ten gets going early. True enough.

Lead the NFL in Interceptions with 10 so far this Season
Stingy in the Red Zone – Have only allowed only a 25% Conversion Rrate on allowing TD’s to be scored once opponent are in the the Red zone and again leading the NFL in this category

PM another stone cold football fact I read today. Out of all 32 NFL teams this year (so far) the ranking of top passing efficiency 1-5 are..now hold your breath.

San Diego
Philadelphia
Tennessee
Indy
New Orleans

So…its improbable, but what happens is Kolb goes 25-37 for 280 2tds and the Birds win?

schiller

vinnie – then Coach Reid most likely makes a decision based off of what he knows going into the Colts game. He’ll either decide to stick with the current plan, which is to play Vick, or he’ll change his mind and play Kolb. That’s the only answer that can possibly be correct.

Meanwhile, your opinion, or that of anyone else is worth poopy because it has absolutely 0 influence on the above paragraph. What else is there to it?

Off topic or maybe more on topic- Is there anywhere to compare the number of injuries by week over the past few years?

It just SEEMS that there have been a ton so far this year and I want to know if it is true or if it just appears that way.

To Regal,
It definitely appears that more players are going down every week..
I also think that Players/Agents and the Players Union are being a little more cautious and making sure that the Players are healed as much as possible before playing
Also, with any head/conscussion issues, It seems that Players & Teams, Doctors again are being more cautious and are taking at least 1-2 weeks out before returning which is probably a good thing..

Tydm, No knock on Kolb, glad to see he’s doing well, but player of the week awards are a matter of opinion. Stats show that Vick is currently the top rated QB in the NFL with a 108.8 passer rating! Who would of thought we could have this type of debate six weeks ago? Or a better question; why should we? Last time I looked they both were wearing Eagle green. Not a dilemma – but a brillant assets.
