What Will The Giants Employ To Stop The Explosiveness Of The Birds?

Nobody wants to be trailing by 7 after 20 seconds of play.  Teams don’t want be trailing by 28 at the end of the first quarter.  Defenses will do anything to prevent a blowout like last Monday night’s?  I mean anything.

So what are the Giants going to do to stop Michael Vick and the Eagles?  That’s the question which everybody is trying to answer.  What will be the Eagles game plan be this week?  Will they take a shot deep early or will they try to drive the ball downfield in a methodical fashion?

I could see the Giants taking out one of the linebackers and playing three safeties on regular downs.  Taking a linebacker off the field would make the Giants smaller but faster.  It’s something they’ve already done, so I could see them using it as a change up to keep the Birds guessing.

The three safeties defense is weak against the run.  I believe the Birds are going to be forced to run the ball more this weekend because the Giants are going to do everything they can to prevent the big pass plays.  They’re going to try to encourage the Eagles run the ball.

I think you will see them utilize a “walk around techinique” with all of the front seven players standing around the line of scrimmage but none of them will be stationary at the snap of the ball and they won’t be down in a three-point stance.

I also believe the Giants will use both man to man and zone coverages too keep Vick and company guessing, but they’re not going to give DeSean Jackson and the other wide receivers an easy release.  They’re going to try to get jams on the Eagles wide receivers to slow them down.

I could see them moving Osi Umenyiora to the other side so that he’s rushing Vick from his blindside.  Vick would take advantage of Umenyiora tendency to run himself upfield and out of the play.

Normally the defensive end is rushing the blindside of the quarterback, but the fact that Vick will be facing the other side, it would give the quarterback a chance to take off when Umenyiora takes off upfield and open a big hole in the defensive front.

Justin Tuck is a more disciplined rusher, so I could see lining him up on Vick’s front side.  The Giants will probably have three or four defensive ends in the game rather using those big 300 plus pound defensive tackles who will have no chance of catching Vick.

Head coach Tom Coughlin said he was getting sick watching the Eagles on Monday Night Football.  He might get sick again on Sunday night at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Gay-Men will try to everything in there power to keep the philly offense off the field….. That means the Birdz defense must create penalties….. I also think with Eli making so many turnovers this season he’s do for 3-4 against the birdz with a ton of sacks……. We must keep Bradshaw moving side to side not foward…. The same scheme we had against Chris Johnson earlier this season….. With a banged up offensive line we can dominate the Giants like we did the Dead Skinzzz…. Another note the Birdz offense must strike hard and early against the Giants……. The corners must challange every pass thrown in there direction…. Playing alot of man defense (No Zone defense) Eli will pick us apart……. Another thing the Birds must do is keep them on 3rd and Long…… Make it almost impossible for them to complete a first down…… Watch for the screen passes on 3rd and long as well…. They know that ther BIRDS will bring pressure but the defense must be aware of that as well….. BALANCE OVERALL WINS GAMES GO BIRDZ===========

Defensively,
The Giants will not do what the Redskins were so inept at doing (Only rushing 3, having a spy and try to keep/contain Vick as a pocket passer)
The Giants will rush 5-6 Rushers and take their chances on getting hit with a couple of big passes and leaving their Secondary mostly man to man.. I believe that Coughlins and DC Jeweel’s style will be to rush and send the kitchen sink at Vick and hope they can get to him before he can set and look deep downfield and get him to the gound a few times before Vick get’s out on the perimeter.. I expect a lot of blitzes up the middle as well as from the outside by Safety A Rolle..
I don’t beleive the Giants will take the passive appraoch and try to contain Vick in the pocket as the Redskins attemtped to do, they will rush, rush, rush which should allow VIck some opportunites to make some plays down the field if he can just get a little time, but he will get hit a lot more than he did versus the Redskins..
Offensively for the Giants
They will run, run, run the ball with Bradshaw & Jacobs, they will throw Screens and Bubble routes and then take some shots to Nicks vs Pattersons down the left SIdelines at least 3-4 times
With the injured O/Line that Manning is playing begind and their depleted WR’s and TE Boss also hurting, The Giants will try to shorten the game, play smash mouth football and limit the chances for the Eagles Offense to have the ball (if they were smart they would do this)
If Giants Offense was a full strength with O/Line and WR’s I think this would be more of a shootout type of game 38-35.. but the with the Giants O/Line in the shape it’s in and no real WR’s threat outside of Nick and the possesion style of Manningham, they are really limited with big play capabilities so I now expect to see a lower scoring game with the Eagles winning 24-16

One thing I noticed that the Eagles should do with these “Amoeba Fronts’ where the Defenders are standing up and moving all around..I would like to see some quick snaps and Center/Guards plow straight ahead and Vick keep the ball for some easy 5-10 yard gains right up the middle..
If the Eagles do this 3-4 times, I bet these “Amoeba Fronts” would disappear…

Reid and coaches had great game plans against the Colts and Skins
No reason to think they will suffer a brain cramp for this one

I’m more concerend with what the Eagles need to do. Pressure Manning make him uncomfortable, stop the run and the defense needs to get off the field on 3rd downs..Give the Eagles O as many oppurtunities as possible and we beat them soundly!

I see A Dixon knocking LG K Booth right back into October and into ELi’s face…
Booth is going to wish he was back on the practice sqaud, I actually expect rookie Mitch Petrus to
replace BOoth by the end of the 1st Quarter who is raw but at least will give up a fight…
Wait until you see their LT W Beatty, who reminds me a lot of how W Justice was from 3 years ago, very timid, very stiff and just not aggressive at all, If Trent Cole doesn’t have this guy for lunch and get 2-3 sacks himself, then he better take time off and go Deer Hunting for the week
I would be very disappointed and surprised if the Eagles can’t get 6-8 sacks against this current Giant O/Line which is why I think the Giants will run the ball 50 times to protect Eli…

RealTalk777: Im with you bro beat them soundly!!!! Yes I wanna see Eli with his (DUHHH) LOOK all game long……. We all know that look LMAO!

To Paul MAN: I see us ripping through them like the Colts did against there offensive line….. We handled maybe in the leauge the best 1-2 defensive ends in the league with Mathis and Freeney….. Osi and Tuck are OK compared to those two guys……. I wanna see more Giant disfunctional family affair this weekend…. LoL…. There do for another “Kardasian” Episode LOL!

Couple of more players who are dinged defensively for the GIants
LB J Goff with slighty sprained ankle, will play but may not have his quickness ir great lateral movement
CB C Webster – turf toe has missed practice this week but is expected to play..
I think after he is chasing D-Jax/Maclin all around the field on Sunday,
I would not be surprised to see him ending up on “Turf-Foot” and “Turf-Butt” lists next week

Don’t forget about Eli’s left-handed unde-handed toss’s too..
(Another one of the NFL overrated QB’s and if his last name wasn’t Manning, I am not even sure he would have been drafted before the 5th Rd and even be a Starter in the NFL) .

The Giants will run the football and use short passes to eat up the clock. They will keep Vick off the field. They will have their DEs rush to contain the way the Eagles stopped Vick in the NFC championship game.

The Eagles will go after the Giants secondary early and often. This will get the Giants out of run mode and be forced to catch up.

I don’t think Eli throws more that 20-24 passes all game, they are going to run, run, run and throw screen passes to death to protect Eli and eat the clock and try to keep “Starship #7” off the field,
I think Coughlin will be very content with a low-scoring, smash mouth type of game and try to pull it out in the end.. The coach to watch for is the GIants O/C K Gilbride who can become very impatient and try to outsmart himself on occasasions… (Sound familiar.)

Man, I’m going to stay up all night so that I’m very tired tomorrow, which will cause me to go to bed early. Then I’ll spend all day in church, so I don’t have to wait countless hours. I want to see this game so badly.

I hope you guys check in the game-day chat. It’s a great time to be an Eagles fan.
