The Eagles defense will be shorthanded today in both the secondary and on the defensive line. Here are the inactives: Chad Hall, Asante Samuel, Brandon Hughes, Austin Howard, Juqua Parker, Reggie Wells, Garrett Mills and Mike Kafka is the third quarterback.
This will mean that not only will Joselio Hanson be starting in place of Asante Samuel, but rookie Brandon Graham will be starting at the left defensive end position in place of Juqua Parker who will be inactive because of an injury to his hip.
Expect the Bears to test Graham with their running game.
I expect the Bears defense will utilize Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers in trying to keep Michael Vick in the pocket and prevent him from rolling to his left. They’ll try to emulate as much of the Giants game plan as they can especially in the red zone.
They’ll try to not give Vick any run and throw options in the red zone. Their blitz will attempt to force him to make a decision immediately and try to give him only one option. Vick is impossible to stop when he’s got the option of running or throwing the ball.
Of course this is another big one for the Birds. If they win this one, it’s put them in great shape to go after the number once seed in the NFC.

The Bears front 4 are not as good/athletic as the Giants, but their LB’s and Def/Secondary are superior to the Giants and how the Eagles handle them, scheme, take advantage of mis-matches and and how the Receivers get open down the field and make YAC will probably determine the winner of the game..
Celek needs to step up and make some plays in this game.. The Deep ball/routes will not be there,so the EAgles & Vick need to be patient and nickle and dime their way down the field, especially early in the game and take what the Bears Defense gives them and soften them up and then take some shots later in the game but the need to sustain drives and run the ball more often
Everything is working out for the Eagles. There’s no way Andre Johnson plays on Thursday against the Eagles after that ugly fight he had at the end of the Tennessee Titans game. The Houston Texans aren’t t
Fell asleep and missed the first series.
I saw the Bears’ first series. They were taking off some heads on that sweep right.
Forte for 61 yards.
Cutler also had a nice scramble, put the move on Trent Cole. Nice TD pass for Cutler.
We’ve got to survive the Bears’ scoring drive and match their intensity. If they keep running the ball with such effectiveness, it’s going to be a very long day.
Hello Eagle Nation, I sense worry in the force so I am here to pump up the Good Karma, lets go fellas we got this even if we are short handed on defense, its our time. Just gotin from work and now warming up the Karma.
As always LONG LIVE THE EAGLES, its bear soup time.
We’re running deep routes and need to shorten them up. The defense is all over Vick.
Monolith
Karma is needed.
Cole with a nice tackle for negative yards.
Vick’s got to make quicker reads and release the ball sooner. If he keeps hanging on to the ball they’ll eat’m alive. They need to crank up some runs to bring up the LBs and get some space behind them.
Hester gets the quick hit and multiplies the yardage. Good downfield blocking.
Maybe
They’re running deep routes. They need to shorten the routes.
whew that was too easy of a score….
Chicago is having its way on both sides of the ball. They’re getting to Vick before the routes develop and over-powering our defense.
no surprise that Hansen gets beat.
Vick’s hitting them in the middle of the field.
Here we go with the drops again.
Blocking has improved. Vick is finding receivers.
So far, Vick’s been patient with check-downs and passing over the middle between the linebackers and safeties.
That TD took the air out of the stadium. We needed that. It looks like we survived Chicago’s opening adrenaline rush.
44 yard kick off return
Because of special teams, field position battle belongs to Chicago, thus far.
and let the air back in the stadium…
SCHOWEEET!
The rookie blows up Chicago!
Good job by the defense. It’s also improving.
15 yard penalty. That’ll help with the field position.
We’ve gone back to the deep patterns. Vick throws away.
Maclin makes a nice catch
No time to set up. Peppers gets Vick.
Not the best settling for 3 but the good news is we’re moving the ball welll against their D
Reid’s been calling passes off of the reverse pivot. That’s a good way to slow down the rush, but it renders your QB blind until he turns around. Imagine how Vick felt to turn around to see Peppers bearing down on him..
A couple of blunders, the shuttle pass hits Cole and a missed block on Peppers.
The defense has come alive. It was looking very shaky for a while.
Sack by Patterson. Missed assignment.
Patterson rising to the occasion..
Another sack – this time it’s Cole. Defense is beginning to dominate.
Here’s what the play call looks like:
Quick hit to Jackson 4 yards
Swing to McCoy 1st down
Scramble on fake end around (pass) 3 yards
McCoy up the middle 4 yards
Vick overthrows Celek on the seam pattern
Field Goal
Pass to Avant 5 yards
Sack – 4 man rush
Shotgun – nice escape from Vick for 5 yards
Punt
Harbor over the middle – first down
Dump off to McCoy over the middle 6 yards
McCoy off tackle for 1 yards
Avant over the middle for 15 yards
Incomplete – drop by Jackson – good protection
McCoy off tackle for 8 yards
End around to Jackson for 2 – first down
Throw away out of the end zone
Deflected by Urlacher for Riley Cooper
Maclin reception for TD
Vick throw away
McCoy off tackle for 18
1st Down to Jackson – 19 yards
1st Down to Maclin – 11 yards
Shuttle pass hits Nick Cole
Vick draw for 7 yards
Peppers gets to Vick – no time to set up – missed block
I missed the first series. Other than that, we’re passing at 69% and the rush has been slowed by max protect and reverse pivots by Vick.
Drummer the Karma is offically here, turn it on brothers. Go Eagles.
Typical Reid O with that pasing percentage. By the way. Maclin has turned in to an excellent WR
The routes have been shortened and blocking’s improved. And we see the screen for 14 yards.
Hope it he lossed his wind cause losing McCoy would really hurt the O
McCoy has been playing injured and he’s played so well, it’s easy to forget that he’s injured. What a pro!!
Monolith
Just in the nick of time. Any later, we might’ve been looking at 40-point deficit.
Maybe
Maclin’s won me over. More than a few posters on this site thought he’d have an improved season. I wasn’t one of them, but he’s made a liar out of me. Thank God!
That hurt
