According to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network, Philadelphia Eagles DE Trent Cole is going to be a little lighter in the wallet thanks to a roughing the passer call. Specifically, he’s going to be short $20,000.
Ouch.
“PHI DE Trent Cole fined $20K for roughing the passer – struck the opposing quarterback in the knee area. 4th unnecessary roughness incident,” La Canfora tweets.
I wouldn’t want to be a defensive player these days. Not only could a seemingly routine play get your team cracked with a 15-yard penalty, but it could cost you your mortgage payment. In Trent’s case, I think he can afford the 20 large. But I wouldn’t want to be an undrafted rookie out there. Imagine one of those guys getting hit with one of these $50,000 fines? Sheesh.
This is getting out of hand.
The ref’s are partial to the elite QB’s except for Vick.
This is old news that was announced earlier in the week. He was also fined $5000 for uniform violations with his shirt. I cannot believe the NFL does that with it’s “uniform police”, that really sucks for Trent.
IMO… anyone who saw a replay of this can tell it looked like Cole’s feet got caught under a lineman and he fell into the QB’s leg. To count this play as one that is careless or intentional is even more careless by the officials. It’s unfortunate that the officials are too extreme with the flags and fines. There’ supposed to be protecting the game by stopping unsportsman like conduct which is a good thing however, the way they are applying the rules, they’re saying that any play with an unfortunate result is always from an unsportsman like action. Absolutely ridiculous and it’s harming the game.
What BS
Are these dumbass league reviewers watching the same tape as we are
20k for a pro athlete aint shit. They blow more than that in one night at the script club with Pac-Man.
