DeSean Jackson Explodes With Emotion And 210 Yards Receiving

It doesn’t seem to matter how much Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson tries, he wears his emotions on his sleeves.  When times are bad like the moments after the Birds lost to the Chicago Bears a couple of weeks ago, and Jackson was admonished by head coach Andy Reid, you could see the dejection all over his face and body.

He seemed to wear that dejection all week long until they beat the Texans on that Thursday night.

Jackson’s emotions were bubbling over last night in Texas and the entire nation was able to see it.

You tend to find out a lot about your team and players when they run into adversity.  The Eagles were facing an awful situation last night in Texas.  The Dallas Cowboys took at 20-14 lead but the Birds battled back with a strong finish to win  a hard-fought 30-27 victory.

He exploded last night with 210 yards receiving on only four catches and a brilliant 91-yard touchdown catch, when the Birds needed it desperately.  He averaged over 50 yards per catch.  Yes, you read that right, over 50 yards per catch.

After the game, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick talked about “The Little Man” constantly asking for the football.

“He challenged me throughout the entire game,” Vick said. “He demanded the football, he wanted to be involved.”

Jackson started the game in much the same way that he started the Eagles second game versus the Washington Redskins.  Michael Vick faked a running play to his right, but rolled to his left and put up a bomb that found Jackson downfield for 59 yards.

Later in the game, Vick got the ball to Jackson on a simple out route.  The little guy caught the ball near the sideline.  Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins dove in an attempt to knock the ball down, but Vick put it in a place where he couldn’t get it.

Once Jackson got the ball in his hands, he headed downfield and cut back.  His foot was bothering him, but there was no catching “The Little Man”.

“I didn’t think I was going to make it. I was seeing guys coming closer and closer,” Jackson said according to Philly.com.

He stopped short of the goalline, then fell backwards into the endzone.

“I get caught up just out there having too much fun and that’s one thing I’m not going to take away from my game. I like the energy, I like doing the things I do to get my team pumped up,” Jackson said according to Philly.com. “Just got to be smart. The penalty was obviously a bad idea.”

This was Jackson’s answer to the Cowboys defensive backs who had held him under wraps for all of the three games the teams had played last year.  I know that Jenkins and his teammates in the Dallas defensive backfield had let Jackson know they had gotten the best of him a year ago.

But this was a new day and Jackson’s stop at the goalline was an exclamation point to all of the frustration from a year ago and two weeks ago in Chicago.  I know the penalty he got for the fall into the end zone has people steaming, but this is all part of Jackson.

“I wish he wouldn’t have,” Reid said concerning Jackson’s showboating. “That’s a little Hollywood left of him.”

Unfortunately when it come to “The Little Man”, his speed and his emotions will never be separated.  If you get one, you get the other.

SONGS, you’re not lying. I’ve had Cowboy fans telling me for the past year how they locked DJacc down — it wasn’t DJacc, it was McNabb. When McNabb DID have time, he couldn’t hit Jackson accurately or in stride. Vick’s precision was remarkable on some his passes to 10. It’s going to be a good year.

DJax…..50+ yards PER CATCH….he made catches across the field, in the flat and down the field. So much for the talk of him having a limited number of plays. The man is special, just like Vick, we need to limit the number of knock-out hits the guy takes. There are 2 contracts that need to be done, Vick & DJax.

Great game last night and a great perfomances by D-Jax and VIck who both showed heart and toughness after both took some big hits…
The Eagles Front Office (Banner) needs to get off the schnied and sign these players to long-term deals now which would solidify the Eagles as legitimate front runners from the NFC for a Super Bowl run for the next 4-5 Years and send a stong message to the rest of the NFL that the Eagles are here to Win.

Give Akers some credit for that kickoff from the 15
Dallas could have started out on their own 40 to even the 50 dof back on the 20 like a regular TB
