Eagles-Giants Game Day Chat

It seems that many Eagles fans think the battle against the Giants today will be a cake walk, but I don’t see it that way.  The Birds must play one of their best games of the season in order to get the victory today.

It’s sure to be cold and windy today in windy in North Jersey today, so Michael Vick and the Eagles won’t have ideal circumstances to run their offense this weekend.  That Giants front four will be putting some serious pressure on Vick, so he’ll have to work his magic with that pass rush on him.

I saw DeSean Jackson practicing on Friday and he foot injury looked like it was bothering him.  The diminutive wide receiver was limping a bit, but seemed to have most of his speed.

The defense will have it’s work cut for it as they try to stop the Giants running game.  They’ve got to stop Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw, so they can force Eli Manning to the throw the ball.

The Birds must have a big day on special teams because New York’s special team are pathetic.

A win will pave the way for the NFC East title.  A loss will put the Birds in an awful situation.  They’ve got to get the “W”.  Enjoy it and let’s start talking about it right here.

Eagles/Giants have had a lot of hard fought games in recent years. I always get excited when I see the Giants talking trash and being overconfident leading up to playing the Eagles. Because then we normally take it to them and win (even if the final score doesn’t totally reflect it).

Offensive and Defensive lines need to exert their will on the Giants for a full 60 minutes. I think this Eagle team believes it can make a run and that really starts with this game.

But First, we need to have Paulman’s NFL picks for Week #15 (Ovreall record of 124-71)

Chargers over the 49ers from Thursday was a no brainer.
Browns over the Bengals – Browns will run the ball with Hillis as Bengals self-destruct
Cowboys over the Redskins- Rex Grossman replaced D McNAbb- enough said
Texans over the Titans – Titans have packed it in and HC Fisher is on his way out (to the Cowboys?)
Colts over the Jags – A close game that Colts need to save Playoff chances- Manning plays well
Chiefs over the Rams- 2 improved teams heading in the right direction, running game for Chiefs decides the outcome with Charles/Jones combo wearing out the Rams D
Dolphins over Bills- Dolphins come on strong at the end of season again, a little to much too late..
TB Bucs over Lions – TB Bucs continue to be in the playoff conversation that no one talks about.
Cardinals over Panthers – the “who cares bowl”, both franchises are in a mess
Saints over the Ravens – Saints are hot and healthy and the Ravens have one of leagues worst stats agains the Pass which is what the Saints do well.. expect a high-scoring game….
Falcons over Seahawks- Seahawks have been tough a home, could be a let-down game for Falcons
Steelers over the Jets – No Troy Palomula for Steelers, but Big Ben comes up with enough plays to win a close one as the Jet’s Offense and Sanchez continue to struggle to score points.
Raiders over Broncos – Tebows 1st start is not a good one, expect turnovers, sacks, as Raiders get back to a .500 season record
Patriots over Packers – QB Flynn plays better than expected for the injured Rodgers, but Pats are playing the best team football in the NFL right now and win going away..
Bears over VIkings – Vikings going with rookie QB J Webb who gets his 1st NFL Start, Bears play small ball to win a low-scoring close one, keep an eye on this Webb, he reminds me a lot of a young Randall Cunningham and a real raw talent who will compete next season as the Starter..

Giants 23 – Eagles 19 in a close, tough, typical NFC East Battle – Eagles squander 2 scoring chances down in the Red-Zone and have to settle for FG’s which proves to be the difference in the game.. Giants K Boss has big game vs the LB/Safeties of the Eagles catching 2 TD passes

Enjoy the games

Their special teams kicked our butts in the last meeting.

On one kick-off, they forced a fumble, which ended Ellis Hobb’s career (although we recovered the ball).

They also blocked a field goal and returned another kick-off to the 32 yard line.

For the season, their special teams might be woeful, but they weren’t woeful against ours.

Vick must take better care of the ball. He tends to carry it like a loaf of bread. Reid should have coached him up on that. They could have consulted Tiki Barber.

I don’t know any Eagles fans that think that this game is a cake walk and many, if not most, think this is probably the toughest Birds game this season. My heart tells me Birds, Birds Birds, but my brain tells me the Birds winning streak against the G Men ends today. The loss of Bradley will give the Giants even greater advantage with passing to the TE than they would’ve had. I just don’t see Dunlap taking care of Vick’s blind side well enough against this defense since Reid will not feature a running game which I think is a must. It’s great to have Samuel back but he’s not 100%. Here’s hoping, but I doubt, the birds can shut down the running game since this is the only way I see a W for the birds.

GO BIRDS!!!!

As much as I hated Aikman as a Cowboy, I think he’s pretty good as an analyst. He’s generally very fair with both his praise and criticism, in my opinion.

Maybe

I hadn’t thought about it, but I agree with you. I don’t recall hearing anyone saying that this would be a cakewalk.

Drummer

Gotta agree 100% with you about Aikman. Hated him ’cause he was a Cowboy but I htink he’s about the best analyst on. If they could just get Aikman away from the bone head Joe Buck!
