Eagles Must Show Up Ready To Play

Eagles fans throughout the area are still celebrating the Birds miraculous win over the New York Giants, but Eagles players know they have to put that game in their review mirror

“Will it be difficult?”, Michael Vick said in response to a question about getting ready to play after a highly, emotional game.  No, it won’t. I think it’s a game we learn from, we build from and put behind us and move forward. The most important game is the next game.”

I hope Vick is right because the Eagles biggest opponent this week will be themselves.  The Vikings will likely go to battle without their starting and backup quarterback as well as their Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson.

The Birds may get the chance to clinch the NFC East crown with some help from the Green Bay Packers, who will be taking on the Giants.  Aaron Rodgers will be returning to the lineup, so New York will have their work cut out for them when they battle the Packers.

A veteran like Vick knows that an NFL team can’t afford to get too wrapped up in one game.

“Yeah, I mean, you can enjoy a win in this league for two days”, Vick told reporters yesterday. That’s Monday and Tuesday. We come back to work on Wednesday and focus on the task at hand and that’s beating the opposition for the upcoming week. Everybody is back down to earth. We understand that the next game is the most important.”

I think the Eagles will be fine because they score on so many big plays.  The hardest thing for this squad to do will be to put together long drives, which require more focus.  If the Eagles show up for the first half, this one will be put away early because the Vikings quarterback situation is so bad that they won’t even be able to throw for TD’s against the Eagles secondary.

I’m over the win against the Giants. I re-watched the game on Tuesday so I was fully over it them. Hopefully the players are over it. From what you said yesterday it seemed they were still on an emotional high from it. Well I hope that’s over and they don’t lose focus. And I think they’ll be fine. Andy does a good job getting his players prepared for the next week. The Vikes secondary is just awful and this is where Jackson thrives. And their pass rush is nothing like it used to be. THey aren’t slouches but they just aren’t a good team right now regardless of who’s playing QB. I think this week, we blow out the Vikes with a 2nd half explosion and take over the number 2 seed as the Bear lose to the Jets.

After the huge confidence builder on Sunday, the perfect scenario would a complete blow-out over a team ready for vacation. (47-3, with 4 interceptions.)

The 1st 2 Series will tell the tale if the Eagles are focused and ready to play (which I think they will)
If Eagles can get 10 points by the 1st Quarter or so, they will end with up with a big win where we may even see Kolb and other back-ups in their playing in the 4th Quarter to finish the game out and rest some of the Starters and players who are a little dinged up…
I look for Maclin,McCoy to have big games..

Haa whaa haaaa, Paul you are funny, I think I read the last part of your prediction in a Stephen King novel. You had me tapping my feet to your prediction to the very end. Your the best brother. Though uh I am going to need you to change that ending friend. As someone on this site once said, “Can’t put that out in the Universe” The secret. Who said that anyway anybody remember?

I think PW said that (“Can’t put that out in the Universe”)
After some soul searching and heavy Egg-Nog Mixing & Taste Testing,
I have Changed my Super Bowl Prediction..
Eagles 34 – Patriots 30 in one of the most Exciting Super Bowls of all time where the winning
TD Pass is thrown from QB Kolb to Vick on a end-around Gadet play from the 8 yard line on a 4th and Goal with .06 seconds left….

I like the prediction, but add that Chad Hall returns 2nd half opening kick of SB for a TD to take lead 20-19.
