Eagles vs. Vikings Chat Session

The stage is set, it’s the Eagles versus the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday night.  Michael Vick and the explosive Eagles will try to outscore rookie quarterback Joe Webb and the Vikings.

I’m hoping the Birds come out and jump on the Vikings, so we don’t have any drama tonight.  I’m not expecting drama, but you can’t take anybody for granted.

The Eagles offense should be able to go downfield with the passing game and put points up on the board.  Once they get ahead, it will force Minnesota to throw the ball more than they would like.

Vikings Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson is nursing ankle and knee injuries but he still may try to play.  Regardless whether it’s Tody Gearhart or Peterson, the Eagles must shut down the Minnesota running game.

It would be a nightmare if they were able to keep the game close, run the football and let Webb scramble when the opportunities arise.  Webb is a very good athlete but he’s not much of a passer.  I’m sure they’re going to attack Dimitri Patterson.  I hope he’s up to the challenge.

The Birds have to jump on top early and not give Minnesota any hope.

Watch for MCCoy and Maclin to have big games in a Eagles 37-13 Victory..
Vikings will most likely start out in a deep Cover 2 (similar to what the Bears did) to take D-JAx and the deep passing game away.. Middle of the field should be open early and often and screens left, screens right should work all game long.. Also look for a Defensive touchdown on a sack/fumble by the young QB J Webb that DE Darryl Tapp falls on..

I hope we jump to a nice big lead and can rest some starters towards the end of the game. If we dont get this first round bye then 3 games in 12 days is going to be a worry.

It’ll be interesting to see how Adrian Peterson performs tonight. He does have a bad thigh/knee, and with Webb at QB, he should get 20+ touches (along with Toby Gerhart, as well). Simply put… Eagles stop run, they will win.

Eagles have managed to contain CJ, Gore, MJD, Foster and the 2 giants RBs twice this year. Could even throw in Forte whos numbers would be a sad sight if it werent for the 60 yard run. Im sure the defense should contain AP when theres no threat of a vertical game from the vikings.

I am more worried about the short passing game to AP on the checkdown from the rookie QB. Our linebackers need to swarm to him as soon as he catches it.

Sydeny Rice running down the left sidelines vs S PAtterson worries me a little bit..
They also have sppedster Percey Harvin who is good on those bubble routes/squick slants
and then they have one of the most underrated TE’s in the game in Shiancoe who is a little more athletic then people give him credit for .. If the Eagles don’t bring the kitchen sink after this kid as opposed to allowing QB Webb in his 1st NFL Start, to get comfortable and into a rhythm, then they deserve to lose. Show no mercy DC McDermott, come after this kid with everything you got, Blitz Sims, Have T Cole stand up over center and rush right up the middle, does some stunts, Move DT Dixon around to take over the interior of a weak Vikings LIne, Bltz safety Coleman from different
positions, get this kid running for his life from the get go…

If they go deep to Rice or Harvin ima pick one of two things happen. The pass rush gets to him by the time he can make the throw (that O-line looked worse than ours last week) or he underthrows it and we get 2 or 3 INTs tonight.

Should have been CB D Patterson trying to cover WR Rice down the left sideline that I am concerned..
Everyone check this QB J Webb out from the VIkings and see if he reminds anyone of a young, raw, Randall Cuningham back when he started where he had those long legs, strides, a big slowa arm delivery who could throw bullets and 60 yards in the air, but not sure about his accuracy of his reads, at this stage of his career, but this J Webb may have a future if he gets the proper coaching for he has a ton of athletic talent.. Maybe work with a Coach like Marty MOhernwig in the future..

In other news… 4 eagles make the pro bowl as starters. And Djax is a backup reciver. Shame to see McCoy miss out. And weird that Brees and his 21 INTs made backup over Aaron Rodgers.

Any truth to the rumour that Vinnie the Victor (all the way from Canada) kidnapped QB M Vick
from the Hotel Lobby today and has taken him to some outpost in the Owen Sound, Ontario area
Per my sources, the Ransom note simpley stated, play Kevin Kolb and no mention of $$ or any harm done to Vick… NFL Commisioner will annouce a full investigation with the Mounty Police from Canada
and Officials of the US Boarder Patrol…and President Obama has announced “Songs” & JROC as the “Co-Czars to find Mike Vick”

Vick among Eagles Pro Bowlers

Michael Vick headlines the Eagles’ cast of Pro Bowl honorees after the NFL announced the teams for the annual All-Star game to be held on Jan. 30 in Hawaii.

The Eagles quarterback will start for the NFC squad. Also starting will be tackle Jason Peters and cornerback Asante Samuel. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson is a reserve and David Akers is the kicker.

Running back LeSean McCoy, defensive end Trent Cole and guard Todd Herremans were several Eagles that came up short in voting. Those three, however, are first alternates should a player ahead of them on the roster back out of the game.

Safety Quintin Mikell and fullback Owen Schmitt were second alternates.

Vick’s selection is the fourth of his career.

Brees is a pin-up boy for the NFL and has been for 2 years now..
RB McCoy and also RT W Justice deserved a Pro-Bowl
(McCoy simply doesn’t get enough carries which hurts his overall #’s)
No surprise that DE T Cole didn;t make it, he’s had a very pedestrian season I think and the DE Position is one of concern for the Playoffs and future seasons and needs to be address in the off-season
Meanwhile DE J BAbin has 12.5 Sacks for the Titans as a pass-rusher specialists and
traded DE C Clemons has 10.5 Sacks for the Seattle Seahawks… I always go back to the coaching,
what did the other teams do differently with these players than what D/L Coach R Segrest and DC McDermott did with them, while they are here.. Is it the Schemes, the lack of utilzing more leverage, better use of the hands, strength & c onditioning.. Why not run some stunts, move players around, stand them up.. overstack a side, bunch blitz.. why don’t the Eagles ever do anything creative with their DL like they used to… DE’s Cole & Parker will fade as playoff time comes again and very little pressure will be applied to opposing teams QB again lighting up a suspect Eagles Secondary..
Will it be D Brees,A Rodgers, J Cutler or even S Bradford… Good Grief…

The Vikings have come to play.. the crowd appears too quiet and not into it.. Was Gov Rendell correct about “Wussies”.. Let’s snap out of it and get this team going…. In Eagles 1st series, Vick took 3-4 good hits and won’t last the 1st half at this pace

Vick’s been getting hit, and now McCoy’s getting hit in the backfield. It’s so hard to tell just how bad this line is playing because Vick hides their deficiencies.

I said, “It’s so hard to tell JUST HOW BAD this line is playing because Vick hides their deficiencies.” I know they’re bad. If another QB were under center, it’d be easier to tell just how bad they are.

Chaney’s all over the field, making tackles for negative yardage, breaking up downfield passes. I know it’s too early to label the guy, but he’s definitely stepped in and played very well, thus far.

Chaney is the real deal, Bradley will have to return to OLB and replace Sims if he returns at all this season
I’ve stated that Bradley is a giid OLB but middle of the pack at MLB.. He just doesn’t have that explosion to the holes to make plays.. On the Outside, Bradley can utilize his size better..
