The playoff game between the New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks has begun. The Seahawks kicker Orlando Mare kicked the ball out of bounds, so the Saints got the ball on the forty yard line. They moved the ball downfield for the score, but Reggie Bush dropped what would have been a sure touchdown.
Seattle immediately showed why they have the worst record ever for an NFL playoff team. They turned the ball over and have put the Saints in position to score again.
Let’s talk about the games today and also talk about the game tomorrow.
You can see that this New Orleans Saints team isn’t nearly as good as the squad they had a year ago. Seattle is playing like they have a chance.
Seattle is not a legitimate playoff team. Their defense can’t even slow these guys down.
They look a little better now, crowd is getting into the game a bit
I’m sure you saw that Seattle just mde the Saints go 3 and out. Nice! Not expecting the Seahawks to win but it sure would be nice to see the Saints get nocked out…
I remember when the Linc and the Vet had crowds like that. Our stadium has been dead for 2 years. No juice at all anymore.
Soweet! a Saints turnover in the the Saints red zone!
It’s all tied up. I think a 7-9 team should be playing more aggressively than that.
I get what you are saying G. There is no reason to hold anything back from Seattle’s point of view, the whole country thinks they are going to get smacked around anyway.
Remember that the Eagles couldn’t sign Raheem Brock after they drafted him. One of the biggest disappointments of this season has been the pass rush. They drafted a DE in 1st round, 3rd round, and 5th round and none of them will be a factor tomorrow.
The Eagles must come out tomorrow and give the fans something to shout about. The crowd will make harder for the Packers to audible.
You’re spot on Gary. The Eagles have to come out hot on both Offense and Defense and crank up the 12th man.
If they need motivation all they need to do is check out this article that was on ProFootballTalk earlier this week. Lovie Smith and the Bears are studying tapes of the Saints. They don’t think the Seahawks or the Eagles are going to win on this weekend.

Didn’t the Brock problem have something to do with the way moeny is alotted to 1st year players? They had to spend more than expected on a few earlier drafted players, and didn’t have enough to get a deal done with him. (It has nothing to do with being cheap, there are rules about how much can be spent on rookie contracts) I hope the stadium is loud tomorrow, but to be honest, I do not expect it to be unless the Birds jump out to a lead. I have been in 5 other stadiums in the last 2 years, every one of them was louder than ours, and really, it hasn’t been very close.
Funny you bring up motivation. I’ll never forget seeing a video of Belichick reading the planned parade route for the Eagles SB victory to his team in a meeting before the game.
somehow the Seahawks have managed a lead going in to the locker room at the half. So far, it’s been a good game to watch. Hopefully, the second half will be as good and include an Aints loss.
The Saints defense is pathetic When you have a guy man to man, you’ve got to look at him and not in the backfield.
You might want to drop that hint to D Patterson, G.
holy flock. you gotta be kidding. if you took Seattle and a hatful of points, you must be feeling smart right now.
You can see that Earl Thomas is a player. He’s been making plays all season long. We’ll give Brandon Graham more time, but he and Nate Allen have got a lot to prove. I feel confident Allen will get better next season, but Graham has to prove he can beat these huge offensive linemen with his short arms. He had some good pass rushes, but he was pushed around on running plays.
They are kicking the Saints’ butts. The New Orleans defense shouldn’t get paid for this one.
Seahawks game plan has been perfect and I can’t remember the last time I saw Hasselbeck play this well. He’s been smokin hot today with a 127 QB with 5 min left in the 3rd Qtr.
127 QB Rating that is…
How much do you expect Graham to improve after an off-season in a pro weight program? How much will the fact that he is rehabbing his knee keep him from having that big jump usually seen between 1st and 2nd year for players?
Seahawks are starting to look like themselves in the 4th Qtr. and shooting themselves in the feet with mistakes.
Gary – if you’re still around, do you think the Eagles will start out and stay with a good running threat tomorrow and will they be able to protect Vick enough so he can be effective with his passes?
I’ve heard that they plan on running the ball more than usual, but the key will be their commitment to it.
The Saints are going home. What a run by Marshawn Lynch!
The Saints just mailed it in today, and the Seahawks did a really nice job. I didn’t really think they had it in them.
anderson, it does look like they were expecting this to be an easy game but it aint over yet….
hmmmm, lookin’ like the Bears waisted a lot of time prepping for the wrong team
How can Chris Clemons not be playing for the Eagles G? Another poor evaluation by the defensive coordinator. Clemons had a great year for Seattle but couldnt play for this high powered defense.. McDermitt cant evaluate his own talent. Dixon, Chaney, Coleman to name a few.
Guess Atlanta had best get going on the Seahawks. Bet they didn’t think they’d have to study them.
This was an excellent game by the Seahawks, a lousy game by the Saints.
Oh yeah we let Babin go to. Hes in the pro bowl. Unbelievable.
The Seattle Seahawks have shocked the football world with the upset of the New Orleans Saints.
dag – been wondering the same thing. What up G?
I think the Seahawks did the Eagles a favor by knocking out the Saints. New Orleans is a team which matches up well against the Birds.
Absolutely agree G! Now it’s up to the Eagles to make the favor worthwhile.
I wonder about some of the things said on here sometimes. Does anyone have a believer conviction? Any opputunity to take a shot at our coaches to be negative. I do remember plenty of people complaining about what a scrub clemmons was and how poor the D-coord and AR’s evaluation was for even trading for him.
Now low and behold the same statement is being made for not keeping him. Some people I notice onthis site talk in a vaccum with no reference or inclination for the past. This is why other than the argument for running the ball more, I don’t put much stock in some peoples evaluations or statements. I am clearly no football brain, but I don’t call players scrubs, worthless ,or demand that someone be fired.
Clemmons was traded, changed his attitude, his motivation got in a new environment and has done well for himself, good for him, but here it is an opportunity to spout out more negative rubbish about our damn football team. Like the poster “FAN” preached about not only a few days ago, why even bother showing up sometimes if all you get is a face full of ugly stuck in your face about your team.
Its only a favor if they do something with it.
That being said go Eagles, beat them dang Packers and show why we deserve to see the wizard at emerale city. As always LONG LIVE THE EAGLES!!!!!
I called the Upset in an earlier post from this morning,
Just didn’t think the Saints were taking Seattle seriously and were banged up a bit..
I tell ya, DE Clemons and Safety E Thomas would look better if they were in Eagles Green wouldn’t they..
Monolith yeah he Clemons wasnt very good here. I guess the d-coordinator shouldnt have put him in that damn “Joker” position 7 plays a game. I guess the d-coordinator should of put him at defensive end and let him go like in Seattle. Of course I thought he was a bust because the d-coordinator obviously didnt know how to use him. Motivation? A new contract and a new team like the Eagles wasnt motivation?
It gets back to D/Line Coach R Segrest..
But Safety E Thomas was the choice to make when the Eagles Traded up 11 spots to #13 last year.. This will be a mistake that will haunt the Eagles for the next 10 years…
Yep I agree but my point is you or no one else made that point. No one said “Hey they should play Clemons differently”, many just flat out said that he was a joke, scrub and should be cut. So there you go, I would give you or anyone else credit if they said what you just said last year. Hell based on what I konw right now I could dang gone save JFK’s life, I could prevent World War Two!
I you said Clemons is a player, he is not playing good now, lets hold on to him, I would be giving mad props right now. But you didn’t so no one gets a free shot at my damn coaches on this play.
I as you guys know like McD as coord, and would like to see him stay.
Haunt the Eagles for the next 10 years? Really! Thats good to know because I was confused and fooled by how great the seahawks defense has played all year compared to ours.
I agree that I wanted Thomas also still do, but I ain’t cryin becasue we did okay, not what we wanted but okay. we need work but I young ones don’t get the benefit of growing becasue we have been spoiled on very good to great defenses in the pass. Let the kids and the young Coord grow a few seasons.
This defensive philosophy hasnt worked for years. Even when JJ was here this defense is played out. The blitzes dont work. the defensive ends are to small and not enough emphasis on LB. I just think its time for a total poverhaul and different defensive philosophy. I tell you it seems like almost every 3-4 defense works. Im going to Baltimore, NYJ or Pittsburgh and picking one of there defensive coaches and starting over. Yes there will be growing pains but it cant be any worse than the defense we put on the field now.
Think about it. The Eagles got rid of Jason Babin and Chris Clemons. I think Babin had 13 sacks and Clemons had 11. Trent Cole led the Eagles with 9 sacks. They drafted a DE in the 1at round, 3rd round and 5th round. Tomorrow we’ll see if they can pressure the Rodgers.
Dag
I’m with you. We need some size on defense, and as a matter of fact, we could use some size in our receiving corps also.
I question the ability of the Defensive line coach Rory S. If the receivers don’t det off the line of scrimmage and the Eagles don’t run the ball ai least half the time.Look what the Seahawks did and let’s see what we can do.
