Evening Chat With G. Cobb – No Kolb Trade, Childress In Miami, Fox To Denver, LT Gets Probation

Former Eagles offensive coordinator as well as former Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress is headed to Miami to interview for their open offensive coordinator position. Andy Reid has already made it public that he would welcome Childress back to Philadelphia if he’s interested.

Jeff McLane gives us the reasons he doesn’t think Andy Reid and the Eagles will trade Kevin Kolb. He talks about how the lack of CBA affects a possible trade.  If a CBA isn’t agree upon by March 4th, then a lockout will occur.

He makes some good points.

It’s been a busy day for hiring NFL head coaches.   Former Denver Broncos Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway tweeted that the Broncos were hiring recently fired Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox as the team’s new coach.

“Coach Fox is a great fit for us not only with his coaching ability but also with his personality,” Elway said.

“He is a dynamic and proven leader who will energize our entire organization. John has coached great defenses, turned teams around and been to Super Bowls. We couldn’t be more excited to have him lead the Denver Broncos.”

Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor will not be going to jail.  He will plead guilty to one count of patronizing a prostitute and one count of sexual misconduct.  He was originally hit with a statutory rape charge for have sex with a 16 year old teenager.

He will do six years of probation but be able to walk free.  Taylor did admit to having sex with an underage prostitute.  He said she had told him she was 16 years old.

Childress isn’t dumb,
He realizes that Dolphin Coach T Sparano Job Security is on thin ice and if the Dolphins get off to a slow start next season, Coach Sparano probably won’t last the Season while Childress takes over as an Interim Coach.Very smart move and if the Dolphins do play well and Childress helps ignite that Offense and develop a QB there,it will help him get looks from other clubs..Low Risk-High Reward
If Brad were to take a job with the Eagles, there is little reward for him personally,The Eagles offense has set team scorign records the last 3 years in a row.. With the weapons and offensive #’s the Eagles put up, Childress would not really be personally credited for doing anything therefore his reward is minmimal and his opportunity to get back as a HC becomes more difficult
The Eagles would be a Low Risk – Low Reward type of job for him right now for he wants to be a HC and he’s not getting any younger..

Ooooooorrrr – Childress doesn’t want Reid micro-managing his offense. Childress likes to run and Reid doesn’t.

John Fox for Denver is kind of a odd fit since the Broncos were usually strong offensive teams which os not Fox’s strength.. But he will bring discipline, strong work ethic and solid fundamentals which they have been lacking for some time now… A curious think to see is who the Offensive Coordinator will be and how involved or meddlesome will John Elway be or not be…
Also interesting is where does QB T Tebow fit in all of this.. Elway stated publicy that the next
Coach would have to be a Tebow supporter and by Fox’s coaching history, he typically will go with
a Veteran Qb as opposed to a young one who is apt to have more mistakes and growing pains..
Fox is a conservative coah who likes to play it close to the vest in all he does.. Look for lots of changes personnel wise and look for some bigger RB”s

Does anyone else find it funny that the 31st ranked Broncos from last year hired the unwanted coach of the 32nd ranked team?

On Lawrence Taylor,
He needs to get some professional medical and physchological help his addictive personality disorders and dependancy whether it be Drugs,Alcohol,Women,Steroids or whatever else he’s doing.. It’s a shame for when he’s sober, he’s comes across a super nice fella, but he needs to gets help before he ends up in a gutter somewhere

How is it that the John Foxes and Jeff Fishers of the world who havent won anything are so loved. I dont feel like looking up the stats but I have to believe Andy Reid has twice as many playoff wins as both combined. How do they get away with it? Hell Bill Cowher is lucky he had how many years 15, and finally won 1. I just dont get it.

G i think its a little too much too soon for Elway. And obviously all the potential head coaches out there agreed considering the best available refused to interview with them (Harbaugh, Williams and Mularkey). Its left them with a D-grade list of coaches to choose from, a GM who knows nothing about how to run a team, a 2nd year QB who was labelled a potential bust by most draft analysts and a whole lot of veteran starters who have maybe a year or two left. A lot of work for John Fox to do. Best thing they should be doing right now is looking to trade down with their 2nd pick with Arizona (who holds 5th) if ARI are looking to perhaps grab Cam Newton ahead of Buffalo. Especialy if Fairley goes #1 overall. If Fairley goes 1 to CAR, Newton 2 to ARI, Dequan Bowers 3 to Buffalo, AJ Green will be too hard for the Bengals to resist at 4 which leaves either CB/S Peterson or Amukamara at 5 which is a need of theirs. Watch it not happen.

I thought I would take a bite at your Vick and #24 to Panthers for #1 post but cmon man trading coaches now? Andy, McDermott and #24 for the Patriots O-line while signing Gruden to coach sounds good to me.
