It’s been a good day for the Ryans. One was signing with the Cowboys to be the new defensive coordinator while the other was upsetting the team that a lot people had picked to be this year’s Super Bowl winners.
Rex Ryan and his New York Jets shook up the NFL playoffs by taking down the New England Patriots, who were the number one seed in the AFC and the favorite to win this year’s Super Bowl title. Rex put together a masterful defensive game plan, that changed things up on Tom Brady and kept him guessing. It took away the Patriots passing game to its tight end and forced him to hang onto the football much longer that he wanted to.
At the same time that was going down, Rob Ryan, Rex’s brother was being hired by Jerry Jones as the Dallas Cowboy’s defensive coordinator. This is a plum job because the Cowboys are stocked with defensive talent and should do well with Ryan’s attacking style. Not only do you have the league’s leading pass rusher in DeMarcus Ware, but you also have Pro Bowl nose tackle Jay Ratliff, as well as budding star outside linebacker Anthony Spencer.
Their secondary had a bad year, but you still have Pro Bowl level cornerbacks Mike Jenkins and Terence Newman.
If he New York Jets find a way to go to Pittsburgh and upset the Steelers, Rex and his Jets will be heading to Arlington to visit his brother and play in this year’s Super Bowl.
