They don’t do an Offensive player of the year? That would be the one I think Vick. Between his rushing and passing yards and getting TDs both ways he is the definition of offensive weapon.

looking at that list we need a Mathews(packers) or Harrison(Steelers) i would love Andy if he got OLB like them

Some good Rookies I liked for my Eagles Mock Drafts from last year before they traded up and then back out missing out on 3-4 good solid picks and players from the Top 3 Rounds only to get more picks from the later Rounds (4th thru 7th)

I had CB McCourtey at 1st Rd (#24) — (A dual threat in the return game too, I stated)
I had OT R Saffolds/LB Tao Misi in the 2nd Rd (#36) ( Pick was traded to Cowboys????)
I had S N Allen in 2nd Round (#55) — good solid pick here, unfortunate about his injuries..
I had DT L Houston in 3rd round (#70) (this pick traded to Denver to move up to get Graham)
You get the picture…

I hope this years Draft, the Eagles sit tight and draft where that are postioned unless they a too godo of a deal to pass up and right now it appears their Selections are close to this
1st – (#23rd Overall)
2nd – (#54th Overall)
3rd – (#86th Overall)
4th – (#104th Overall) – from Redskins in the McNabb deal
4th – (#120th Overall)
5th – (#146 Overall) – from the Chargers in 2010 deal
5th – (#151 Overall)
6th – (#182 Overall)
7th – (#214 Overall)

I can see the Eagles trading DT Patterson to the Panthers for a 4th Rd pick (around #100 Overall)
which would give the Eagles about 8 Selections of the Top 150 PLayers.. If you can land 5 solid contributors at CB,LB,OL,DE,S and than add the 4-5 Free-Agents at CB,DE,LB,OL, S then this team could be buitl to kick butt for the next 4-5 Season
This is a very deep draft on the defensive side of the ball this year and especially along the DL/LB
spots

hey pman…..when is the last time the eagles traded with the panthers??

If you haven’t noticed, this team tends to only trade with certain teams that they have relationships with….I don’t think they communicate much with the panthers.

For the record,
there is no way Eagles CB A samuel should make this list..
He missed 3 games and was a shell of himself the final 2 i nwhich he played..
HAd 7 INt’s halfway thru the season and finished with 7 Int’s

CB’s who played the entire season and had better stats and more worthy than Samuel

Name – Team — Solo Tackles – Assist- Total Tackles Passes Defended # of Int’s

T Williams- Packers 50 7 57 20 6
C Tillman – Bears 71 11 82 14 5
D McCourty – Patriots 69 13 82 17 7
T Thomas – Giants 81 20 101 21 5
T Newman – Cowboys 77 2 79 9 5

D Patterson – Eagles 50 2 52 11 4
A Samuel – Eagles 22 4 26 14 7

I think Samuel is one of the most overrated players in the NFL.. 26 tackles in 13 games played
Betty White from those Snicker commercials can get more than that…
Once he loses a 1/2 step, he’s will be ineffective since he doesn’t do much else but jump routes and get the occasion Int..

@paulman………. WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! Are you kidding me……. Asante is a game changing corner……. Notice that most of the Td’s this season has been on the opposite side of the field…. Nobody wants to throw on his side………..(Period) He has help this team in the turnover margin………. 9ints. last year, 7ints. this year and 4 his first season!

To greenfan,
Probably never.. The Panthers don’t seem to trade with anyone and are typically a very conservative team in Free agency and by trade.. Their Philosophy has been to build thru the Draft and they have stayed with ti pretty close.. I can’t even tell you a big-name they have signed in Free-Agency in the last 10 years for their haven;’t been too many.. Their First couple of years they went out and got
CB Eric Davis from the 49ers, LB K Greene from the Steelers, RB Stephen DAvis from Redskins
but not much else.. (You want to see Cheap.. the Owner of the Panthers is probably one of the tightest owners in the NFL with $$$$ in the likes Ralph Wilson of Buffalo and the Brown family at CIninnati.. I am serious..)

Asante has 20ints. in Eagle Green……. In 3 seasons…… Thats saying something……. Paulman that was too far on that comment….. He may not be complete…… But he’s a proven playmaker who can change a game in a hurry!!!

Eagles have typically traded with Patriots, Vikings, Seahawks and now Cleveland
and even the damn hated Cowboys in 2 of the last 3 Drafts… ( I will never understand on why you would want to help out one of your bitter rivals better by giving them high draft picks in a draft and epecially when you don’t get much in return…)
Cowboys say, here’s DE Spencer or a Starter type of player for your # 2nd Round Pick..
Then I would think about it, but trading picks where they end up with a 1st Rd or 2nd Round and the Eagles move back down the draft for an additional mid-round pick makes no sense to me..

I know Reid supporters look at his wins but u fail to understand that Cowboys,Redskins, even Giants were bad for most of Reid’s Tenure. The coaches before Reid had to play Super Bowl winning Cowboys,Redskins,Giants Think about it Reid in a 4 year period played Cowboys(who won 1 playoff game) 8 times Before Reid poor Eagles had to play 3 time Super Bowl winning Cowboys (may i remind u the year the Cowboys did not go to Super Bowl they were still great just lost to awesome steve young 49ers) yes, that poor Eagle coach had to play those Cowboys 8 times i think Reids record would be very DIFFERENT

Don’t you guys understand, every post Paulman makes has to do with Carolina…..about signing some stiff playing corner or aimbot posting about how we’re going to trade a DT for a 4th rd pick.

BREAKING NEWS: NO ONE CARES ABOUT ANYONE OR ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH CAROLINA!!!!

I suggested the Eagles to go after 3 players last Off-season year from the Panthers Roster

Safety Chris Harris – who was traded to the Bears for next to nothing and makes the Pro-Bowl
LB – James Anderson – I still say go after this player this year
CB- Richard Marshall – I still say go after this player this year

Now this year, I am adding TE D Rosario and Center/Guard Ryan Kalil from the Panthers for the Eagles to pursue. Kalil is a Pro-Bowl Center and can play Guard and is just hitting his prime
Rosario is a 3-4 year Pro who is athletic and can stretch the field from the TE position and could be had for realtively little $$$..

I can name at least 8 guys I’d take before Marshall. Bailey, Asomugha, Rogers, Joseph, Cromartie, Taylor, Houston, Williams….and probably Ronde Barber too if he’s available.

I can name 8-9 LBs I’d take before Anderson too. Harris, McIntosh, Posluszny, Tulloch, Woodley, Greenway, Peterson, Leber, Leroy Hill

Khalil would be a good pickup, but we already have a center (and he is not a guard), but why would we want another receiving TE (already have 3)?

It’s the worst franchise in the league for a reason. So, while some may enjoy your repetitive posts, most of us would like legitimate players who actually have talent and are realistic improvements for our defense. When you learn that this is more talent outside of Carolina, then we can talk….

To Mjacobs45
Why do you continue to make foolish statements, do you pat attention how the EAgles Operate
They are not going to go out and sign 3-4 top players at their positions IN Free-agnecy..
They will probably targer 1 big name player and then 3-4 2nd Trie Names/players for cost reasons..
have you not learned anything these last 10 years..
Bailey and Barner are over 32 years and the Eagles don’t sign older players at skills position
Joseph will be franchised by the Bengals and will not be available
Asmogah will want Revis $$$ and the Eagles are not going to pay that much

So who does that leave… Cromartie, Talyor, Houtson and Marshall…

On the LB’s … Again the Eagles are not going to pay a Greenway,Woodley,Harris the top $$$ that they will be able to command, Leroy Hill has numerous off the field issues with beating up girlfriend, pot charges and weapons charges so the Eagles won’t be looking to add him, Posluszny has knee injury history, Peterson is 32 years old +…
Again they look at the 2nd Tier players who are less than 28 years of age and reasonable in $$$

I don’t have to agree how the Eagles go about pursuing Free-agency, but it’s the way they operate and if you had any real football sense on the EAgles, I would not even have had to explain this…

This is great, Let’s Go out and CB Asmgoah, LB’s D Harris, L Woodley and NT Ngata… ooh and QB M Vick too.. What are nuts…. is 45 in your sign on your age or your IQ… C’Mon Jacobs..

@paulmoron…..Apparently I’ll have to prove you wrong yet again. Levon Kirkland was an aging 3-4 LB. Emmons was another 3-4 LB….both signed through free agency. Or do you need history lessons?

And when the Eagles want a top tier FA, they go out and get him. Kearse, TO (although it ended up being a trade), Samuel, Runyan….when they want to, they spend the money on players in their prime. And seeing as no one on this roster makes any money because they’re all 7th round picks and undrafted trash, they will have a ton of money to burn.

Now if you know how the Eagles operated, you would know these FACTS. There’s no reason they can’t go out and get Harris and Asomugha the same way they got TO and Kearse in ’04. They did it then….they will do it again.

Care to try again or you getting tired of being proven wrong genius?

My only response to that mjacobs is to stop living in the past..
What the Eagles did 6-7-8 years ago has no bearing on how they operate now..
Back then, they were trying to build a legitimate playoff contending team in which they succeeding
in doing, now that they have had success (making playoffs on a regular basis)
the need to go out and overspend for an aging veteran players is over..
They will target 1-2 Big names players and make their offer, if it’s not close, then they move on
and target the 3-4 Second Tier players who are less costly
Lets look at recent Free-agent signings of the last coupld of seasons
This year- -trade for a Darryl Tapp and sign him to a 3 year deal, trade for a E Sims who had 1 year remianing on his rookie deal.. GO out and trade for RB J harrison who is in his final year of his contract.. Sign WR/ST Kelly Washington only to cut him on final cut-down day.. SIgn CB/Safety
M Jackson at a discount rate due to back to back season of knee injuries and he didn;t last 2 weeks in Summer Camp..Singed LB J Trotter in a move to be able to field a LB Corp due to injuries to S Bradley (who had knee injury while in College)
2 Years ago – Go out and sign Safety Sean Jones to a 1 year deal (coming off knee innjury and he was never able to pick-up the Defense) Signed FB L Weaver which was a good move, Signed injury riddled Stacey Andrews which we all know was a mistake and was not a fit for a passing offense when his biggest weakness was pass-protection.. It’s funny whan AR stated we signed a premier rush blocker and for an offense that doesn’t run the ball. Signed QB M Vick which was risky but paid off huge this season. Traded in season for LB Witherspoon who was in final year of contract and let him walk after the Season, SIgned DE J Babin and gave him a 1 year deal and let him walk after the season. Traded for RB L Booker for a 3rd Round Pick and he couldn’t beat out free-agent E Buckley
Traded for LT J Peters who has been a Pro-Bowl for 2 Season (rightly or wrongly, but he’s an All-Pro but they did give up 2 high picks to get him.. was it worth it ?? I would say overall it’s been a wash for he did play more consistently this season than his 1st, his conditioning and weight I do get concerned about as he gets older.. and what kind of stress he puts his knees thru every season and if he loses a step, then he simpley becomes and average Tackle..
3 Years Ago — Went out and traded for CB E Hobbs (a 2nd Tier Cb with history of injuries)
Signed TE Kris Wilson who didn’t even make the 53 man squad when the team was desprate at TE
Signed DE C Clemons to be opposite T Cole and saw limited play during his Eagle Career..

I am sure there are other transactions that I have missed.. but do you see a pattern here..
Since the Eagles have reached Success with be a consistent playoff compeitive team, their Off-Season moves have become more odd and on the cheap with the philosophy of a
low risk-high reward type of mentality of pursuing players with history of injuries and not having to pay them much, or pursuing mid-level back-up talen and building them up like they can make an impact..
I think the last couple of seasons of building thru the Draft is good as long as they are smarter with their draft selections and stop this trading up/trading down and missing out on early round talent
(Rds 1 thru 3) just to accumulate more players in Rounds 5 thru 7.. This Eagle Roster is lined up with mid-late round draft selections and with the damaged goods and mediocre talent they have been pursing in Free-Agency the last couple of years, it’s no real wonder that this team is ismply an average team… Any advantage that can be had by Coach AR preparations, process nad organizations skills are then lost with his on the field Coaching skills during an actual game..
So there you have it mjacobs from where I sit..

4 Years ago they went out and signed CB Samuel and WR K Curtis but that’s ancient history in Football time tio me…It’s not simply fgood enough anymore to build a competitve team to have a good shot at making the playoffs, it’s about building a SUper Bowl contending Roster
(Look at the JEts and Bears as perfect examples) Bears went out and got themselves a QB in CUtler, went out and got a dominating DE in Peppers, solidified their Safety poistion in acquiring
Chris Harris for chump change, Signed a solid back-up RB in C Talyor…
Now the Jets go out and get D/OLB J Taylor, CB Cromartie, Trade for S Holmes and gave up basically nothing in return to the Steelers, Traded for B Edwards. signed RB L Tomlinson…
The Big difference is that these Teams from their Owners,Front Office and Coaches appear to be motivated to win a Super Bowl and not just make the Playoffs…

Vick would be O MVP no question. The mvp of the league is usually an offesive guy.

Paulman your right Sante would be above average corner with a loss of a step. But he runs a 4.4..4.5 forty ..with some of the best corner instincts in the league. My guess is he loses a step in the next 3. Leaving Nmanda too mold the rest of the corners(Lindley). Make that priority one in the off-season..whenever that really comes?

Really liked the defensive steps write up. Paul Poz cannot want too stay in Buffalo!?

Isnt it pathetic all these owners and players are actually at war over money/POWER when the average guy gets crappped on daily? I make a heckuva good living and see too many middle class people being turned into lew middle class everyday. The NFL is a 9billion dollar a year industry …9,000,000,000…Thats everyone you knows money….with the exception of kids who don’t have there own like mine. Think about it….pretty much everyone you know supports this league and there team faithfully. And these vampires think there could be a lock-out? Pathetic.

Hahaha….so let me get this straight, I’m just supposed to ignore what happened with the same regime (after proving you dead wrong) because it happened more than 3-4 years ago? The point isn’t what the Jets are doing….the point is, The Eagles have gone after big name free agents in the past an 3-4 players.

They have also gone after second and third tier players, but that point also has absolutely nothing to do with what the basis of this argument is….and there is a history, that cannot be ignored, that when the Birds want a player, they go out and get him. And they will go after a player regardless of defensive scheme. I show you proof…and your response is, “Can’t pay attention to the past”. Hahaha Seriously? Thanks for playing and anytime you now post something stupid (which is most of the time) I will be there to knock it out of the park.
