NFC & AFC Championship Games Chat

We’re less than an hour away from the start of the NFC Championship game in Chicago between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.  Of course as expected it’s very cold in the Windy City and there’s snow on the ground.

I’m staying with my pick which is the Packers, but I do think the field will help the Bears.  I also believe the Bears will try to run the football and keep the pressure of Jay Cutler.  I don’t trust him in 3rd and long situations and I don’t think Lovie Smith trusts him in those situation either.

You can bet that Dom Capers is going to use Charles Woodson to throw a wrench into the plan of Cutler and Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

I’ll be interested to see if the Packers risk Aaron Rodgers health by getting into a one-dimensional game plan.  Green Bay needs to run the football to keep the Bears front four honest.  Julius Peppers could single-handedly dismantle Rodgers and Green Bay Super Bowl hopes if the Packers don’t keep him honest with screen and draws.

The Packers must also resist kicking the ball to All-Time kick returner Devin Hester and letting him give the Bears a spark with a big return.

Get yourself something to eat and something to drink then get comfortable.  We’ll look at these games today and talk about what needs to be done in order to make sure the Eagles are playing in this game next year.

It’s a no-brainer. The Eagles need to fire Andy Reid.

You see Carson Palmer wants out of Cincy? Well, according to Mort at least. Take that for what it’s worth. He didn’t exactly play this year like someone who has any kind of leverage. Still, who would blame him for being done with that circus?

It’s a no-brainer. The Bears by 11.

Carson Palmer stinks. Talk about a player who has had a free pass. He has had 1-2 good years out of 7. McNabb had gone to 5 nfc championship games, 1 superbowl and 6 pro bowls and has been bashed 10 times worse than the #1 pick Palmer. How does that work? hmmm. I know how.

They dont even want to get rid of Palmer in Cincy. But it Philly with the genius fans half want to get rid of the pro bowl starting, runner up MVP qb in Vick. hahahah. I wonder how that works. hmmmm. I know.

Palmer may stink but all these starting QBs hitting free agency this year is killing any trade value Kolb has.

Why would you play a soft zone against the Green Bay receivers. Cmon Bears.

Great play-calling by McCarthy. He did exactly the opposite of what Chicago expected. The Bears were keying the run and McCarthy went with the pass.

“G” remember when some posters on here claimed Kolb would be the next Aaron Rogers?

Yeah right..He’s more like the next Mr. Rogers…”hello Boys and Girls”.

Micah – I believe that Kolb has some potential but I can’t imagine what you’ve seen that indicates he’s the next Aaron Rodgers…

AJ Feeley was as good as Kolb.

Greenbay is loaded. Eagles need to go to GB and promote one of there scouts to GM and talent evaluator for Eagles.

GB is makin’ it happen. Boy is it nice to see an offense use all their weapons and keep a D off-balance!

These pro bowl bears linebackers are nowhere to be found in run support.

Rodgers gets it done, dudes a winner. Last year with the worst o-line in the league. And this year without any running game.

G – you can say that again. Rodgers is at the top of his game in the playoffs. Poised, quick, decisive, mobile, accurate. He’s got it all right now and is very, very dangerous.

amazing to see an offense that “can’t run the ball” bring it like this when they decide to and stick with it.

Maybetheycan there isnt another offense in the NFL playing at this level. Alot of teams wish they could do what GB is doing.

dag – your right about GB’s offense. GIven where GB’s O line was last year, this gives the Eagles hope to make significant improvement along the O line for next year.

Wish we had Peppers this year…even though he didn’t have the great numbers his presence alone has changed the bears defense greatly all year..they probably dont even make the playoffs without that pickup
