The season ending tournaments, Atlantic-10 and NCAA are approaching for the Temple Owls and they’re playing like it. They won their sixth game in a row today as they rode the hot hand of guard Ramone Moore who dropped in 26, as the Owls beat Dayton by the score of 75-63.
Not only did Moore lead the way in scoring he also had time to pull down nine rebounds. He got help from teammate Scootie Randall who added 17 in the win.
The Owls (19-5, 9-2 A-10) had to have this one over Dayton (17-9, 5-6 A-10) because they wanted to stay on the heels of Atlantic-10 Conference co-leaders Xavier and Duquesne.
This game was seen as a serious challenge going into it because Temple was playing without one of its best players. Senior forward Lavoy Allen, who sprained an ankle earlier in the week against Fordham. As it turned out they didn’t need him. They locked down Dayton with some tremendous defense and held them to 37.3% shooting from the field.
At the same time the Owls were shooting well as they buried 49.1% of their shots. It was a solid and convincing win for Fran Dunphy’s squd away from home.
