Kevin Kolb Needs To Tell His Agent To Get Him Out Of Here

Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb was on WIP last week and talked about Larry Fitzgerald saying he would like the Cardinals to bring him to Arizona.

“I mean, if he’s not the best, he’s one of the best receivers in the NFL, superstar,” Kolb said. “For a guy like that to say something about me, it means a lot. And it’s awfully flattering, and I hope that if something happens, their name comes up.”

Kevin is a good guy, but he or his agent had better get some base in his voice or the dude is going to be giving his retire speech and still yet to have started an entire season.

“I’ve always had a good relationship with the Eagles. I think they understand my situation, I think they see where I’m coming from,” Kolb said. “And you guys know this, it’s not really in my makeup to go out there and cause a stink about things. That’s just not what I do. I try to be as professional as possible and see both sides. I truly believe that they’re going to try and do what’s best for myself and the team, and if that doesn’t work out, I obviously won’t be happy about it. But in my opinion, it won’t be their fault if it doesn’t work out. I think it’ll be because of the CBA not getting done. So if I get put in those shoes, just like I’ve done in the past and just like you have to do when you’re in this league, you just roll with the punches and you say ‘OK my turn is coming up.’

“You never know what’s gonna happen with Mike. We’ve talked about every week, he runs around a lot so you gotta be ready to play. You never know how the year can go. We learned that this year, so if it comes up that way, then I’ll go with it and make it work. But I obviously want to be starting somewhere and be number one.”

I think this is the time for Kolb’s agent to do his job and demand for the Eagles to get him out of here, if he really wants to get out. Kevin shouldn’t have to say anything. The agent is always supposed to play the bad guy, not the player. At this pace, Kolb could look up and be getting ready to turn 30 and not have been a starter for a season.

Kolb will be traded. We need the picks and he can throw them for a cellar dweller.

May be a mute point unless there is a new CBA! Doubt we trade him if this drags into next fall. The price will then fall below the value of having a solid insurance policy.

Not so fast my friends,
Kolb is well aware of doing the right thing, and saying te right things, for he knows that will help him get into a better situation and will also help the Eagles maximize his value instead of him pulling a Carson Palmer act on..
With the current uncertainty of the CBA status and potential players lockout.. there will be no movement in Free-Agnecy to trades so players are not going anywhere until these get resolved

The eagles must have a veteran backup they want to sign and have given kolb the green light to sell himself. He started right after the playoff loss. The eagles would have nip this in the bud if they were not behind it.

If they sign a player before kolb is gone then it looks like the don’t give a crap about lossing kolb.

Trade Alert*

Eagles trade Kevin Kolb to the redskins for Mcnabb. Vick gets hurt in the first preseason game and Mcnabb is named the season opener starter. If anyone has ever watched Lost before I would imagine that this is how those guys felt. Ha Ha

first 2 games 300 plus yards (record)
Via Jakedog 2x NFC OP of the week
He dominated the #1 seeded atlanta falcons

Considering a QB you would draft and know nothing about I would say kolb isnt a bad choice if you are the Cardinals Titans or the Panthers.

Kolb & a 4th Rd Pick traded to the Redskins for QB McNabb and DT Haynesworth..
Vick gets hurt in week #1 and McNabb comes off the bench eads Eagels to a 15 Game winning streak and is named league MVP and Comeback Player of the Year Award and meanwhile DT A Haynesworth ends up with 14 Sacks and 22 Tackles for losses, 6 forced fumbles and even 2 Int’s and easily wins the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Unfortunately, both McNabb’s and Haynesworth’s heroics are not good enough as the Eagles lose in the Super Bowl to the KC Chiefs as
QB M Cassell throws for 4 TD’s and RB J Charles rushes for over 180 yards (mostly on DE T Coles side) as the Chiefs dominate the Eagles 38-16

Has there ever been so much talk about a guy who’s proven so little? Seriously? I don’t want to hear anything else from the backup QB.

I really don’t understand the point of this article? The front office knows that Kolb wants to start. They’re gonna do what they can, and if not then they’ll have a solid number 2 qb. Kevin doesn’t need to tell his agent anything? His agent should already know how he feels, lol.

The Vikings are apparently in the running for Kolb, and this one article I read reported that the Vikes would be willing to trade their #12 pick. If that is true, that is good news, because that means that if the Cards or 49ers want him, they would have to trade their 1st, and if the Dolphins want him, they would have to trade their 1st plus some. Miami is an interesting option, because they don’t need much, besides QB, so they don’t really need their picks all that much. This could get good for the Eagles.

Kolb can be a franchise NFL QB in the right system. He needs to have a running game behind him to be successful. You will not win with his arm alone. He would be a perfect fit in the 49ers or Vikings offense. The have good offensive lines and an established RB. Kolb would be a super-stud with the Vikings with their offensive weapons.

Kolb would be a perfect fit in San Francisco or with the Vikings, he can’t carry a team but he can definitely manage one with talent.

jakedog

this managing the gameplan, carrying a team, its parlance you now hear chatted quite a bit, but it is nonsense

you need a qb, all qbs, to execute the gameplan, is that carrying the team? If you require the qb to win the game for you by himself, ala reid and vick this year, you will fail in the playoffs against the better teams, no matter how good the skillset is of the qb

the question is does he have the skillset, the intelligence, the leadership ability to play the position of qb in the nfl, not whether he can “carry the team”.

In the NFL today you need more than just a game manager at QB. Sure some teams have been able to get away with having a mediocre QB and great defenses with a very good running game. But for the most part you need a very good QB and not just a game manager. Saying Kolb can be successful with a running game, good offensive line and defense is not saying anything that doesn’t apply to most of the QBs in the league. Look at the Super Bowl champions over the past 10-20 years and most of the teams that won had a QB that is an MVP level QB or played like one when it counted most. Only a few teams really had a guy that wasn’t required to do much e.g. Ravens, Bucs, Giants. Other than that almost every other team REQUIRED excellent QB play to lead them to the title.

Did anyone notice that another coach that hasn’t been with his team longer than 5 years won a Super Bowl? It’s interesting now to see how many coaches win a Super bowl before Andy that have been coaching their team < 5 years will or are repeat coaches who already won when they were < 5 years.

To Andrew P,
Andrew,
I don’t know what happened to Phil Savage,
I think I even asked G about him a few weeks but never got a repsonse.
I did check the Eagles Web-site under the Management/Scouting/Player Personnel area and did not see his name listed… I thought that he had signed a 2 year Contract with the Eagles last year as the Top Scout for Evaluating the Draft (at least last year he was). Wonder what the deal is with this…Anyone know…

scorp, even to use your criteria, 2 NFC offensive player of the week awards in only 7 starts is more than a game manager, potential big time qb in kolb, that’s how the scouts see him, but I know you and others on gcobb know better

Just read an article from a pretty solid source that says the Vikings would be willing to give up the 12th overall pick for Kolb. http://draftheadquarters.com/What_Im_Hearing.htm

12th pick overall, get it down FO.

Gotta luv….there’s no debate…Kolb’s outta here..we’re focusing on the right corner spot, a kick returner and getting bigger stonger player on the defensive line..and better offensive linemen…in any order .

I just hope this organization is not selling us these new coaches as if they’re free agents. Please don’t tell us the players were fine but just needed better coaches. We’re not buying it.

Great Players make coaches look great….not the other way around.

Jake, not sure what you are saying but I didn’t say Kolb was just a game manager. I was talking to the point of others basically saying all he needs to be is a game manager to be successful. I don’t think that is true. In this league the QB has to be elite or close to that level to really be successful. There are a bunch of middle of the pack QBs that can win some games but that’s as far as they can take you. So like I said people think just putting Kolb on a good team and he has to do nothing but manage the game is a bit overstated. Whatever team he plays on he will have to rise to occasion to be successful. That goes for him and any other QB.

runtheball….. are you mad at the posters on here on Andy? Andy is the one that benched him. He’s the one that will probably trade him. If Kolb is going to be so great, why doesn’t Andy see that? Do you want Kolb to be successful just so you can say “I told you so”? You are probably one of those fraud fans that would rather see Kolb be successful elsewhere than see Vick successful here.

Exactly songs. Once he leaves here, I can give a flying flute about how his career turns out. He’s just another QB in the league that I wouldn’t care about. He’s done nothing for the team or city so I don’t even know why he has so many fans acting like he deserves something. Even though it wasn’t his fault, he still accomplished very little for people to act like they are attached to him. Once he leaves, forget a Kevin Kolb.

If no CBA in place by March 4th, then it’s very unlikley that any settlement will be reached until sometime in June before the camps are due to open which means there can be no trades and no Free-agent Signings until a new CBA is in place,so it appears to me that Kolb will be with the Eagles for the 2011 Season
If a settlement is made before Camp time starts, then trades can still occur,
but the Value and the Sense of Urgency will be diminshed since teams that are needing QB may go ahead and draft some instead or targer some short-term Veteran Free-Agents to get them by for a season and won’t have to trade away future Draft picks to do so..
