Jim Salisbury of Comcast Sportsnets reports that Cole Hamels will start in the first spring training game against the Yankees, which will mean that Phillies 2010 Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay is on schedule to be the team’s starter in the season opener. It surely not a surprise but just a confirmation of what everybody already knew.
The Eagles are in the air today. Birds right offensive tackle, Winston Justice is on his way to Alabama for what has been termed a routine “clean out” by a high-ranking Eagles official according to Reuben Frank of Comcast Sportsnet.
Geoff Mosher of Delawareonline.com reported that it was possibly a career threatening procedure Justice was preparing to undergo. Mosher talked about the possibility of Justice requiring microfracture surgery, which has a history of players taking a long time to recover from, if the player recovers at all.
Philly.com has now confirmed that indeed Justice is having his knee cleaned out. There’s not a great deal of concern about him facing a career-threatening situation.
Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman will be doing a segment on PhiladelphiaEagles.com tomorrow at 11am. He’ll be able to clarify what’s going on with Justice. Is just a “routine clean out” or “career-threatening”?
Eagles rookie defensive end Brandon Graham is in the air right now, on his way back to Philadelphia from Los Angeles. He was out there for the NBA All-Star game activities and to get back here so he can continue the rehabilitation work on his knee.
DeSean Jackson gave a big party out there in his hometown this weekend. He’s been promoting it for a while, but I don’t know how successful it was.
Eagles assistant offensive coordinator James Urban, who was credited with a great deal of the improvement of Michael Vick, decided to accept a position as wide receiver coach for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kind of odd that the newly promoted OC Assisntant Coordinator James Urban leaves a promsing path with the Eagles with VIck,Kafka and exciting weapons to become a WR Coach of the Bengals…
I guess his promotion must have come in title only and not in $$$$, What’s
the deal here unless QB is going to be traded to the Bengals…
Another conspiracy to follow ..
Unless QB Kolb is getting trading to the Bungles..
good point pmac. bad news is…. if the birds had any idea that Kolb is not worth what they will be asking, then we lost all leveradge with the bungles. I have stated from the day Vick became an eagle that Kolb was the bottom of the pack and would not stay. I trully believe (and i think there is some eve to back me up) that the birds would not have brought 7 in if they thought Kolb was the future,
oppo side of the story paulman , maybe urban just wanted to get the hell out of here.
stevo, the NFL decided that Vick would land in Philly, Reid had nothing to do with it
