This week all of the NFL owners, GM’s and head coaches are in New Orleans for the owners meetings. One of the hot topics everyone has been discussing has been the Eagles putting Kevin Kolb on the trading block. Philly.com talked to a couple of head coaches who were very open about their interest in Kolb.
Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier didn’t seem to have any problem letting it be known that he was interested in Kolb.
“You have to consider a guy like Kevin if he becomes available. He’ll be a part of the conversation as well if that were to occur,” Frazier told Philly.com.
“He’s a good young quarterback. There’s a reason why they had him slated as the number one guy going into training camp,” Frazier said. “They saw some things in him they really liked, and I respect Andy and their staff tremendously, as you guys can imagine, having worked there.”
Frazier wasn’t alone. Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who I think might the guy most apt to offer the most Kolb weighed in on the situation. Remember that Carroll is not only the head coach but also the Director of Football Operation. He has the authority to okay a trade.
“Anybody coming through Andy’s program has been through a great system, great coaching and leadership and direction and all of that,” Carroll said. “That adds to the value of a player rather than a guy who is coming fresh out of college.”
“We want to compete at every single opportunity. That’s one that’s been out there that he possibly would be a guy they would move,” Carroll said. “Those kinds of discussions, it doesn’t matter where it’s coming from, we’re trying to be privy to all of it.”
Again, Carroll’s comments should be taken more seriously than Frazier’s because Carroll has the power to agree to a trade. Frazier could only make his wishes known to his GM.
I also think Carroll might be the one most eager to win right now. He seems to have a huge ego and he knows his Seahawks squad is playing in a very weak division that’s there for the taking. The Seahawks failed to work out a contract with veteran signal caller Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst is not a top level quarterback, so Kolb might be very attractive to them.
In addition, Frazier and Carroll might get calls from the league office or a comment or two from their GM’s or owners for talking publicly about a player who is under contract to another NFL team. It’s something they’re really not supposed to be doing.
cool, drive up the price. ill take a top cb or ol in this draft
Keep the Chatter up and drive up the value
For the record, Paulman reported Seahawks legitimate interest over 3 weeks ago, but who’s keeping count.. Anyways, by Draft time, You will hear every team will want to trade for Kolb.. all that matters is that 1 team thinks highly of him to pull the trigger and Seahawks can give up their 1st Rd (25th Overall Selection) and maybe a 3rd or a 4th Rounder too…
Seattle would be a nice fit for Kolb. Regardless i think a 1 and 3 would pay dividends.
I still think San Fransisco and Minnesota will be in the mix. Hopefully we can get our grills ready for some football and a Championship soon…..well maybe some footall anyways…
paulman, for the record, you can’t report anything, you’re not a reporter. And you were just stating the obvious. We all knew that all along. Now if you’re going to ‘report’ that water makes you wet…. that would be a different story altogether…. but come on now….
Wrong again Schiller,
I am a part-time reporter on Gcobb.Com as several of my articles have been published and commented on.. Now just because I do not get paid any $$ from GCobb does not mean that I am not a professional reporter….C’mon Man…
Paul
Buddy, I hate to bust your bubble, but not getting paid means exactly that – you’re not a professional reporter. Professionals, by definition, get paid.
paulman, just because you tossed all ur pride out the window and begged gcobb to give you a spot on his website every once in a while, doesn’t mean jack. your “opinions” are trash and you offer nothing of substance. I waste vital minutes of my life reading the trash you put out there and always find myself asking why I did it.
They won’t get a comment or notice unless the Eagles or another team complains.
seattle payed a decent price to get whitehusrt last year didn’t they.
lets be reasonable here folks, Paulman does deserve credit for allowing Garry Cobb to post some things on paulman’sego.com it really is very generous
Like I stated and reported before,Paulman, you are a professional squirrel.
Thanks to all for your positive comments.. I will keep working hard to improve
my writing, spelling and grammar skills …
I find Paulman the most entertaining poster on this site other than
DizzyJ ( remember him ) lol..
Most posters here do so with emotion and wear their hearts on their sleeve…
Paulman always posts rational and level headed comments without emotion
Gotta – Glad to see you’re defending poor paulie. I am hard on him sometimes, and I can’t disagree that he usually sticks to ‘content’ and doesn’t let emotions (with the exception of pride and hurt feelings) get in the way of his posts. However, how can you say he’s is always rational when he speaks in the thrid person, think’s he has sources that aren’t anything other than the national news, falsely refers to himself as a reporter, and thinks he is psychic!? That’s far from rational
