I was correct in picking UConn to make the Final Four, but I missed the other three, Butler, Virginia Commonwealth and Kentucky. We all knew there wasn’t a dominant team in the country but nobody expected all of the number one’s to miss the Final Four.
In the East, I had picked Ohio State to be the team which would come out of this bracket. They had looked so good at times, but they went cold for one game and that did them in. The Kentucky game was close but the Buckeyes couldn’t make the shots when they had to.
It seems that every team has to find a way to win a close game or two in order to make it to the Final Four. I thought it would be impossible for the Buckeyes to go cold from outside, but it happened and it happened at the wrong time.
The Wildcats then beat a North Carolina team which had been getting better throughout the season.
Out West, UConn continued the roll which they started in the Big East tournament.. I think they’re the best team left in the Final Four, so they’re my pick to win it. They edged an outstanding Arizona team which was on a roll and had just beaten the defending Champion Duke Blue Devils.
In the Southwest, Kansas didn’t look like they belonged on the same court as Virginia Commonwealth. This Cinderella team took it to the Morris twins and showed us that they might be the best team in this tournament.
Kansas was supposedly unstoppable because of the size, toughness and ability to grind on an opponent for forty-minutes. VCU jumped ahead of them and never looked back.
In the Southeast, Florida took down one of my Final Four picks, BYU, then were edged out by Butler 74-71. Who would have ever figured that Butler would be in the Final Four again this soon after battling Duke to the wire last year? They’re a scrappy team which knows how to execute with the pressure on.
I have Kentucky. If they win I get $400. If they lose I get nothing.
I have only UConn left in the Brackets but am too far behind in points to overtake the leaders..
I had UNC/Kansas and Pitt in in the other 3 Regions…
