It’s clear that the Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to add to their defensive line if the opportunity presents itself. According to Tim McManus of PhiladelphiaSportsDaily.com Clemson defensive tackle Jarvis Jenkins’ agent, Joe Flanagan, the big guy paid the Eagles a visit this past Monday,
The Eagles are supposed to host Temple defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson on Friday April, 15th. They’ll also going to spend some time with Oregon State defensive lineman Stephea Paea.
Jenkins has great size and quickness for a defensive tackle. He stands 6’4″ and weighs 315 pounds. He’s got good quickness within ten or fifteen yards. He gets off the ball and finds a way to get into the backfield but he’s a not dominant pass rusher, right now but I do see potential.
The youngster has good body control and does a good job of getting off of blocks. He finds a way to make quite a few stops from his defensive tackle position, which isn’t an easy thing to do.
The Clemson Tiger totaled 164 tackles during his college career. Thirty-one of those stops were for losses and he had five sacks during that time span.
If the Birds select Jenkins they’ll probably have to do it in the second or third round.
And he specializes in the deadly “head tackle ” technique….see photo.
This is the worst part of the football season. Hearing about all these dudes visiting the Birds and how high they are on all of them. And then they draft a buncha guys they never even talked too.
He may be big but in what I just saw in the video, he doesnt move his feet after initial contact. He may have been able to toss around college level o linemen but he will get mauled in the nfl if he stops his feet.
Although he didnt have many sacks in college, he had double digit QB hurries and tackles for a loss the past 2 seasons….this kid can bring it and fits the Eagles new scheme on the DL…. Jenkins would be an excellent pick in round 2 or 3.
