Phillies All-Star second baseman Chase Utley will be in the lineup tonight but it won’t be for the Phillies. Hell start a 20-day minor league rehabilitation assignment in Clearwater for their Single-A ball club.
He’s going to be batting third in the designated hitter’s role.
“It’s great that he’s progressing,” Phils GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said. “It obviously means he’s feeling well enough to progress into this type of situation. We’ll stay cautiously optimistic that he will continue to progress. It’s good that he’s getting at-bats, and he seems to be feeling pretty good.”
This all started with what was supposedly the normal soreness all players experience at spring training. It later became tendinitis and it’s sidelined the left handed swinging Utley for all the spring and the start of the season.
Heyo!
