Dwyane Wade and LeBron James had to find a way to win in Boston’s TD Garden. They had each lost their time after time. Wade had lost his last eleven games in that building and James had lost the last 13 out of 15 there.
Last night it took a united effort to kill the Boogeyman.
James, Wade and Chris Bosh have faced overwhelming criticism for deciding to play together in Miami. They made a statement to their critics last night and may be on their way to shutting all of them up.
Miami’s Big three scored 83 of the 98 total points for the Heat as they held off the Boston Celtics 98-90 in overtime to take a 3-1 series lead. The Celtics made a game of it through all of regulation.
Boston’s Paul Pierce had a huge game with 27 points, but he missed a potential game-winner at the end of regulation. The Celtics big three of Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen did a poor job of executing a screen and roll in a situation where they could have won the game. Pierce put up a fall away jump shot with James in his face and the Heat go the rebound.
The Celtics were outscored 12-4 in the extra period going 1-6 from the field. Point guard Rajon Rondo played about as well as a guy with a dislocated elbow can, dishing out 5 assists to go with 10 hard-earned points.
Garnett,, who looked like the “Big Ticket” of old with his 28 point 18 rebound outburst on Saturday night was no more than a stub. The Celtics tried to go to the matchup of Garnett against Bosh but the former member of the Minnesota Timberwolves couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean, while scoring 7 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He was one of ten from the field.
Ray Allen was off for the most of the night as he chipped in with 17 points.
The night belonged to James, Wade and Chris Bosh who out rebounded the Celtics 45-28. No other Heat player scored more than 4 points as James (35 points, 14 rebounds) and Wade (28 points, 9 rebounds) led the Heat charge. Whenever Boston looked to gain momentum one of the trio either made a key rebound or key basket to keep things close.
Past horrors almost revisited James, as he committed a critical turnover, only to make a key stop on Pierce and score to give the Heat and 86-84 lead. Boston would tie the game at 86. And once again James would play stellar defense preventing Pierce from scoring the game-winner.
The Celtics have less than 48 hours to regroup and win on the road as Game 5 is in Miami tomorrow night. I think the Heat will close them out. I think the Celtics shot all of their bullets last night, plus Rondo’s elbow isn’t getting any better any time soon.
The Celtics are done not only for this Season but for the next few seasons a they will have a Team Makeover this off-season.. Too many key players who are past their primts… Garnett,Shaq,Jermaine O’Neil, Allen and Pierce have all peaked professianlly.. They have nive G in Rondo and young promising player in J Green.. I expect them to be a 5th/6th Seed nex year before a complete makeover comes to Beantown.. .
Would you trade Iggy for Kevin Garnett? I would.
Boston looked old in Games 1&2, like I said before, that 82-game grind to keep pace in the East caught up to them in a big way (See S.A. Spurs)
I would trade Iggy for their Shamrock..
Iggy and Hawes for Chris Kaman and DeAndre Jordan. Kaman comes of the books after next season and you can give a qualifying offer to Jordan.
Not a bad trade Ron,
How about M Speights in place of Hawe’s
The word on Speights is that he doesn’t play D, but he has an outside touch and still pretty young. I wanna give Speights another shot, but if he isn’t playing D he has to go. You cant have two slow centers, although Hawes runs the floor pretty good…that may work!
Clippers are high on Jordan. I would do Kaman for Iggy straight up
It can get done straight up. The numbers work.
Iggy for rudy gay and look to acquire Greg oden, we don’t need old players like garnett, shaq, kaman. We need young athletic skilled players. Gay and oden would fit great
You know I couldn’t come on here without telling every1 I told you so. Where are all the heat haters!!! Where are you!!??? I thought the celtics were gona beat the heat?? Stop hiding and come out
Y’all need to learn the game of basketball before you make predictions. Game set match tonight
I think the Sixers could have beaten the Celts who look and are playing old
The Heat have definitely brought their game up a notch or two..
When they get any kind of production from a 4th Players (Jones,Chalmers,Miller) they will be tough to beat
Them and the Bulls will be a great series and probably go a full 6-7 Games with the winner of the Series going on to win the NBA Championship series
Too many years for Rudy Gay (balloons to $18 mil in 3 years) for those years and numbers I would make a move for Danny Granger ($14 mil in 3 years). Back to Gay, I like his numbers but what is he going to give us on the defensive end. I said Kaman because he comes off the books at the end of next season so you’re killing two birds with one stone. And once the new CBA kicks in the cap will be lower so the Sixers need to dump as much as possible.
So that makes me a “Heat hater” because I picked Boston in 6.
D Granger is a very good and one of the most underrated players in the NBA having played his entire career for the rebuilding Pacers.. Larry Bird just got an extension to be the GM/Director of Opertations for the Pacers and not sure how much he would like or think Iggy could help them..
Granger disappears in big games. I want no parts of him. At least with granger you’ll get solid defense and great length, and a great scorer
I meant at least with gay
Where you at birdo and all you other heat haters? Y’all look real stupid right now lol the heat takin the whole thing no doubt in my mind… therz still time to hop on the banwagon… the Heatles banwagon
The knock on Gay is that he’s a “me” guy. I haven’t seen enough of him to determine that one way or the other but it raises a flag if comments like that are out there. I wouldn’t be against the move, for the most part you keep the bench intact and look to see what you can grab in the Draft and maybe at the mid-level exemption.
