The Philadelphia Phillies have activated catcher Carlos Ruiz, who has put on the Disabled List recently. He strained his back a few weeks ago and hasn’t played since then. Ruiz played last night for the first time in weeks when he took the field for the Phils Clearwater Single A team. He got a hit in the game and didn’t have any problems with his back after the game.
One of the reasons for the Phils moving so quickly to activate Ruiz is the fact that they had to put their backup catcher Brian Schneider on the Disabled List. Schneider strained his hamstring.
Great news offensively and how he handles the staff.
