Eagles running back LeSean McCoy told Philly.com that he will be working out with Eagles quarterback Michael Vick next week when about 15 players on the team get together to workout.
“I plan on it,” McCoy said. “If we have it I’ll be there. We really miss that stuff, man. Everything we need is right there [at the NovaCare Complex].”
The Birds talented running back has been spending his offseason in the sunshine of Miami, but he came back to Pennsylvania this weekend and hosted an event in his hometown of Harrisburg. The fact that he’s already in the area will make it convenient for him to attend next week’s workouts.
McCoy told Philly.com’s Jeff McLane that he was happy to see the Birds address the offensive line in the draft, now he’s eager to see who will run the show in the middle of the line. “The thing I’m most interested in is how we’re going to use Jamaal [Jackson] and [Mike] McGlynn,” McCoy said, referring to the expected battle at center.
He also was very open about his belief that the Birds need to match up free agent cornerback Nmandi Asomugha with current Pro Bowl cornerback, Asante Samuel. “We need him. We have one of the best corners on the team now,” McCoy said. “I couldn’t imagine what this team would be like if we get him.”
Samuel is making about $10 million dollars a year, while Asomugha made about $14 a year ago. Would they be willing to put nearly $25 million dollars into one position?
There is just no news out there in philly to talk about these days. I did hear some rumors about The Golden State Warriors are very interested in trading for Iguodala and are willing to give up Monte Ellis. Besides that its been a quiet week in philly sports
