There’s always been a rule in professional sports that you keep your mouth shut until you do something. Last week Phillies young righthander Vance Worley broke that rule.
Remember a week ago, when Worley seemed to blaming his pitching problems on the way the team’s management was sending him back and forth from the Phillies to the Iron Pigs. He said he was tired in the third inning and talked about the team’s brain trust not giving him a chance to maintain a starters role.
He’s learned his lesson. Now the Phillies are sending him back to Allentown, but he’s not using that as a excuse for how he pitched in the last outing against the Mets.
“There’s things I need to work on anyway,” Worley said. “It’s been a work in progress. I’m fine with it. I know what I need to do. I’ll be back in a start or two.”
Will be a solid starter next year in Fat Joes spot.
Go get some minor league work done dude.
