The Eagles put down the footballs yesterday and got in some work with their offensive and defensive linemen. There were no quarterbacks available, so they didn’t have much of a choice. The workout was more of a conditioning workout than a football practice.
A number of the Eagles big boys like offensive guard Todd Herremans, defensive end Juqua Parker, defensive tackle Trevor Laws, and offensive tackle Austin Howard got some work on the football field in South Jersey.
The skill position players who showed up were tight end Brent Celek, who has been the one constant throughout the workouts. Jeremy Maclin was there and you can see that he’s eager to make the jump to the next level at the wide receiver position. Backup running back Eldra Buckley got in some work with the group.
Middle linebacker Jamar Chaney was there getting in his work, as was safety Quintin Mikell. In addition the forementioned players, there were a number of NFL players, who have played in the league for various teams or will be trying this year. was there getting in some work.
It wasn’t football specific work, but the focus on speed, changing direction, while building explosiveness and power. They spent some of their time driving a sled to work on their power.
I want to see more of this kid Austin Howard…….. For what I’ve heard and watched the kid is pretty good……. He has a little nasty side with him and could be a great backup once King Dunlap is no longer with this team…….. I’ve had serious beef with Dunlap…… And I will continue to do so……. LOL……. The same beef I had with Koy Detmer I feel the same way about Dunlap……. I’m not a hater but some guys just dont belong on an NFL roster….. Perhaps UFL……. Maybe???????
My prediction///////
– Chaney will win the Middle LB position and Bradley will play strong side…….
– Moises Fouko will battle Clayton for the weak-side position and Fouko will win the battle on a slight margin…….
– Joselio Hanson will be traded to the Buffalo Bills for a 5th round pick and he’ll be a starter in Buffalo this season
– Eagles get Nnamdi Asomuga ink him for a 5yr. deal……. Big offers by Wsh. and dallas but he declines and comes to Philly instead……
– Eagles get Albert Haynesworth for a 4th rd. pick he’ll revive his career in Philly and destroys WSH when he plays against them…..
– D. Patterson will sign a deal elsewhere perhaps with the Arizona Cardinals or Houston Texans…..
– Mike Patterson will be traded with Dixon And Laws being the back-ups with Bunkley and Haynesworth being the starters or Dixon and Haynesworth being the two beast in the middle……. That would be nice!!!!!!!!
– Akers signs a deal with Wsh….. or the Steelers and he struggles there because of the weather factor on the otherside of the water……..
– Dunlap will be a Free agent….. HOORAY!!!!!!!!! Eagles will not resign him!!!
– Eagles will sign Richard Marshall and he’ll be the nickle corner….. So that leaves Nnamdi Asante Lindley Marshall and rookie C. Marsh
– Eagles will keep 4 safeties with Jarrett, Colemen, Allen, and C. Anderson
– Mickell will be a Charger……..
– E. Buckley will get his walking papers and he’ll be a Baltimore Raven
– Plex will be in Philly…… 2 year deal with incentives……. We’ll keep 5 wr on the roster with D-Jax Plex Mac Avant and Cooper……. Chad hall will be elsewhere…..

The rest will battle it out!!!!
Maclin should dominate this year,he’s built like a #1 and with Mike and him really vibe’n last year he should catch 90 balls this year…80?
Secret meetings in Chi-town….they need to get the dang deal done.
Jroc, some bold and interesting predictions!
Jroc, that list just shows you the inept roster management of Big boy. EWW!!! Owens & Calvin look promising. Man, my ideal realistic offseason, if ever starts would be- Trade Kolb to Cards for Dockett & third rounder (1st for next year, probably ain’t happening), Sign Nnamdi, DE Charles Johnson, & OG Justin Blalock, Plax. Resign Bradley. Your starting DF- Nnamdi, Allen, Jarrett, Samuel, Chaney, Stu, Fokou, Cole, Dixon, Dockett & Johnson. Your starting OF- Peters, Blalock, Jackson, Watson, Herremans, Celek, Vick, DJAX, Mack, Plax, & Shady. That’s good & doable. They have money & alot of young players. BTW, Fat Albert will not be here! He’s a lazy, pig, criminal, waste! He’ll be lucky he doesn’t serve time.
ddcar, they do have money, but to do all that and resign Vick/Djax/Maclin/Shady…um… not ‘doable’. And since you’re considering ‘doable’ – what makes you think the Cards will give up Docket? Wish list? Sure, that’d be awesome. But why in hell would they give up their best D player (don’t give me Peterson, hasn’t spent a second in the NFL)….for Kolb and then you add a pick on top of that? Highly Highly doubtful…
Jroc, good thought out transactions though. Quite possible. Who really knows what Bob’s big boy & Rosebud will do!

Paul, though you and songs love to type his name, I doubt Marlin Jackson is even in the discussion come late training camp (if training camp happens). And, though you didn’t mention it up there, I swear, you have some obsession with Chad Hall. You mentioned him 100 times more than he was given the ball or a start….
What up DDCar….. I think that Owens with his injury makes him not see this 53 man roster……. He was good in college in Georgia but i think we are going to get Haynesworth and he’ll be Washburn’s Big Toy Soldier…… He’ll do great in Philly….. Jorrick Calvin is a little hot head……. He shows promise with the special teams but Sinorence Moss will do the job there……. With Calvin’s fumbles last season and how he carried himself after only tells me that he’s a bit immature……. How Mike Vick checked him on that fumble…… But he’s young though…. I’ll give him that……
LMAO@Shiller……I swear, you have som obsession with Chad Hall…….. You mentioned him 100 times more than he was given the ball or start…
@Shiller when some people see hall they see…… DANNY WOODHEAD!!!!!!! He is far from D. Woodhead but Danny Woodhead in the Pats. system makes him good……. Not saying or down playing Hall’s abilities but I think with a heathy S. Moss and D. Lewis helping out on offense than why keep C. Hall……….. I just hope that D. Lewis isn’t the Lorenzo Booker for our team LOL!!!!!! As a matter of fact Lorenzo Booker killed us on a few plays when he was on that Vikings this past season SMH………. WHY???
jroc – on Sinorice, he’s coming off a major injury (why the Giants let him go), so I’m not sure he’s the answer at returner. If he works out, great… but Calvin might still be the guy. And as for Dion Lewis…I’ll say it again, I’m a PITT alumn, and I love the RBs from there (still cannot believe we drafted both recent studs).. so I am definitely, admitedly biased, but Lewis is a way better, and frankly, very different player than booker. I don’t know that Lewis will work out, but he’s way more of a straight RB than a pass catcher, and he’s more of a between the tackles runner than a work in space guy. Compare their college stats, rushing and recieving specifically (look at attempts and yards), and you’ll see a completely different picture of RB types…
Schiller, I honestly don’t think they are going to give DJax big money. He thinks he’s worth more than he is. I love his play making, but he drops too many passes, is injury proned, scared since his concussions & disappears for weeks at a time. Agreed, they aren’t getting Peterson, cause of draft cap price for other teams 1st rounder. Dockett can be had cause he wanted to be traded the last 2 years. Pauls hearing his sources again 😉 Jroc whats up? Agreed with all you said but, unless Fat Albert is released, no one is trading for him. He would have to sign a low salary, incentive packed contract. That greedy fat waste would not do it.
J Calvin had off-season Neck Surgery (Similar to what E Hobbs had last off-season so he will probably not make it back
L Weaver will retire due to not making it back from severe knee injury and subsequent 3 Surgeries and now some Nerve Damage on top of it
I see Siniorice Moss winning the 5th WR spot and handling Return Duties
Eagle Free-Agents R Wells,N Cole,MJG, J Harrison, O Gaither, E Sims, A Jordan, Dmitri Paterson, David Akers, Q Mickell all moving on…
I see the Eagles Signing Free-agent TE Donal Lee (released by teh PAckers before the Lockout) abd that’s about it… I think this season due to the lock-out will see the Eagles maintain and keep as many young players with an eye to the 2012 Season.. This 2011 Season is a crapshoot for everyone the longer this lockout goes.. I just don’t see the Eagles going all-in and going out and signing a CB Nmadi, DE R Parker or Trading for the old, overpaid DT A Haynesworth,etc,etc.. there are not a lot of DE’s in free-agency and I could see the Eagles offering a 2 year Deal to Babin or possibly DE Charles Johnson from the Panthers
I think they are building for 2012/2013 with a young versatile club who will be competitive for NFC East Division Crowns as well as determing the long-term contractual status of Vick/D-Jax/McCoy moving forward.
DD – So a player’s desire is all that it takes to motivate a team to trade him? I say that’s pretty untrue. Kolb has wanted to be traded to… hasn’t happend yet and last time I checked, the Cards don’t have a DE better than Docket, and you need more than one anyway.
And I hear you on DJax, but I think that he will be happy with a big bonus, which the birds will give him, just not crazy money over several years. If a deal (owners/players) get’s worked out, I think the birds will have the money to make DJax ‘ok’ enough (maybe not ‘happy’) to resign, and sign a few FA, just not Nnamdi, a top DE, OL, Plax and Hayensworth….
schiller, you are on a roll…
Yea….. I hear you shiller….. Lewis is a great player and will do good in Philly…… Remember the big hype about Booker on how fast he was…… And he’s a tremendous catcher and all that non-sense…….
With Lewis and McCoy we have something going!!!!! MAN O MAN……. Nick name them the PITT BOSSES!!!!!!!
Is their any chance the Eagles will sign Hank Kendra Baskett this season LOL!!!!!
What about the panthers LB James Anderson…… Very quick and always around the ball……. He would be a great free agent pickup…… I’m sure the panthers will offer him a nice penny before that even happens……
This is who I would like to see the Eagles to Pursue free-agency wise
CB – James Joseph, Carlos Rogers or Richard Marshall
DE – Charles Johnson or Jason Babin
OLB – B Leber or James Anderson
DT – Barry Coefield or R Mebane
WR – Plex Burress
TE – Donald Lee
I did forget to mention that I think LB BRian ROlle ahs an excellt chance to make the 53 Man roster which means if he does, he will probably be fighting it out with DE R Sapp, or OLB R Jhentry for one of those final Roster Spots
Here are a couple of Eagles that are currently under Contracat that I could see them trading for additional Picks in the 2012 Draft if they sure up postions with other players
QB – Kolb for a 2nd Round in 2012 and player or a 3rd or 4th Rounder in 2013
DT – Mike Patterson to the Panthers for a 3rd or 4th Rounder in 2012 Draft
OT – Winston Justice to the Seahawks for a 3rd/4th Rounder in 2012 Draft
That’s it for now
There is absolutey 0% chance that the Eagles trade for Haynesworth. The guy makes WAY too much money and the Birds would only take the guy if he were released and they could give him a more realistic contract.
Jroc – Eagles see Lindley as a starter….dont see them signing both Asomugh and Marshall…. Lindley plays nickel this year and is the starter after Asante’s contract expires…
Haynesworth is NOT coming to Philly….aint happening..AND Patterson will be a stud in Washburn’s new system… he stated that Patterson has more talent than Tony Williams who he had in Tennesee that had 10 sacks in Wash’s system…. he has big plans for Mike P.
A player who should blossom under D/L Coach Washburn will be DT Bunkley,
In fact, with the Eagles a little thin at the DE position with Graham nursing an Knee Injury, and young players like Teo & Sapp still learning the nuances of the NFL, I would not be surprised to see Bunkley play a little DE this Camp/Pre-Season (if there is one) and see him in on pass rushing downs to see what he can do..
As far at the CB Position
I agree with Jott that Lindley will be Samuel’s replacement come 2013 when Samuel’s contract is up and with his recent knee issues, Lindley will see some game action over the next couple of Seasons when Samuel is out
I think the EAgles will pursue either a Carlos Rogers or Richard Marshall to play that RCB position for the next 3-4 seasons while Marsh learns behind them to take over as he learns the NFL.. In today’s pass-happy NFL, Good teams and Good Defenses have 3-4 quality CB’s on their Rosters not just 2 like the old days.. With so many 3-4 WR sets, 3 TE’s Sets and Red-Zone Packagages, a 3rd & 4th CB will be on the field 20-25 Snaps a game and in critical spots and plays a vital role in a Teams Defensive success.. …
Paulman
Marlin Jackson at Corner??? What are you smoking? This guy won’t even make the team let alone be playing at CB. They brought him in last year to compete at the FS position and he tore his achilles. 2 ACL’s & a ruptured achilles in 3 years = retirement!
To Sully
The Eagles signed him to a 2 yar deal last year..
If he is healthy at all, he will be on the field in some shape or form..
I am not saying this is what I would do, but the Eagles are going to want to see some return on the Salary they paid him to sit and rehab his injury from last seasons.. (Think back to last year on why Ellis Hobbs even played..came off neck surgery, but Eagles traded 2 #5 Round Draft picks for him so they were going to put him on the field hell or high water…)
Watch M Jackson, if healthy, compete for RCB or possibly even FS is Nate Allen is still hurting at camp time from recovery of surgery..
Paul, way to come back with an astounding grand total of 1 example to support your claim. What about the Montae Reagors and (I’m having a memory loss) slew of other FA signing coming off injury where they had them, then dropped them. Your logic is, they did it once so they will DEFINITELY do it again. Pretty weak
It’s the Eagles that are were weak in signing these players with history of injuries..Most of the time, they have only signed them to 1 year Deals (Monte Reagor, Sean Jones, Etc,etc) but for some reason, they gave M Jackson a 2 year deal which was very unusualy and especialyl since theere weren’t many teams interested in him to begin with so it”s not like he was in high demand.. Think o fa similar stupid deal with Stacey Andrews who was coming off an injury and most teams had him red-flagged and here come the Eagles hours into Free-agency and offer him the Sun and Moon..
Ridiculous and don’t get me started…
I got to thinking, the only coach that has won a SB on this team is Oline coach Howard Mudd, which is pathetic… our head coach hasnt as a head coach and our dline coach obviously hasnt…… Year in and out we have a front office with coaches in place that have been here for 12 yrs that havent won a SB, and now in year 12 they finally catch up with everyone else and begin signing coaches outside of the current regime that have won before not guys that youve given a pencil and clip board and told them there gonna be a dline coach or a LB coach with no type of experience… lets hope since andy n the front office will hear different voices from guys like mudd and washburn that theyll have some success leading us to a SB …
