With the lockout coming to an end and with many of the details of the CBA becoming known to the public, fans and pundits alike have begun shifting focus to the potential roster changes that will surely be seen once a shortened free agency period begins.
Next week could mark the beginning of a flurry of trades and signings in what will surely be one of the active free agency periods in recent years.
For fans of the Philadelphia Eagles, the possibilities have been well publicized. There’s been talk about many players from Reggie Bush to Plaxico Burress coming to Lincoln Financial Field. There’s also been talk about improving at the linebacker position, while the Eagles’ defensive ends don’t generate much excitement either.
But in a period that could see as many rash decisions as intelligent ones, given the haste with which actions must be taken in this unique off season, here are three key moves that should suit the Eagles.
Quarterback
• The first, and obvious, piece of business that the Eagles must take care of starts at the Quarterback position where the Eagles finally have a cemented starter in Michael Vick. In recent seasons, the Eagles have entered with questions surrounding whichever player would line up under center. This year, there is no such case.
With Vick having enjoyed a revival in a Pro Bowl year, and with Kolb already stating his intentions to seek a new start, the Eagles must find a deal for him now, or risk losing him for nothing at the end of the year, which is the final season left on his contract. The most rumored, and, as it would appear, likely destination for Kolb looks to be Arizona.
The Cardinals appear willing to offer cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but the Eagles are reportedly holding out for more. Perhaps we may not get the true scope of general interest for Kolb until free agency actually begins, but in increasing their offer, the Cardinals may very well feel that they are bidding against themselves as there has been no other team that has been linked as much to Eagles back-up as Arizona.
Considering this, the Eagles may actually have to consider taking the Cards’ offer and it could serve them well in the end. Getting Rodgers-Cromartie would add a skilled corner to a secondary that was terrible in the red zone last season, and had only one true, outstanding performer in Asante Samuel. In that sense, the Eagles would be killing two birds with one stone in a Rodgers Cromartie-Kolb swap, and unless they are willing to offer a boat load of money to Nnamdi Asomugha or if they think second round pick Jaiquawn Jarrett is ready to step up immediately, such a trade may be on the cards for the Eagles.
Offensive Line
• Addressing this certain problem area for the Eagles will require some boldness from Coach Andy Reid and the Eagles’ hierarchy but it may be necessary if Philly wants to make a Super Bowl push. With Winston Justice coming back from injury, you just wonder if the player can return to his best at right tackle. Last season, we saw Vick’s level of performance take a hit down the stretch, as the quarterback did not have the best of offensive lines to protecting him.
And while Philly addressed this right away, picking up guard Danny Watkins as their first round pick in this year’s draft, the Eagles will have to really consider whether Justice will be fit enough to protect Michael Vick’s blind side in a title-chasing season. No matter the level of skill, knee surgery is never a good thing for any linemen, on either side of the ball.
Former Pro-Bowler Kris Jenkins just announced his retirement this week after seeing his outstanding career be destroyed by knee problems in the last two years. This must put things in perspective for Philly. Justice’s performance is no guarantee and with guys like Tyson Clabo and Jeremy Trueblood potentially being on the market this off-season, the Eagles may have to take a serious look at making a drastic change here.
Defensive end
• A good pick up at defensive end could make a big difference in a mediocre defense, the Eagles were 15th in allowing both passing and rushing yards. A solution for the Eagles in this situation happens to be more straightforward. For a position that caused little inspiration last year, it could be in the Eagles’ best interest to have a go after Jason Babin.
The former Houston Texans draftee is now a free agent and after earning his way to the Pro Bowl with over 12 sacks, Babin could prove to be a great signing for Philadelphia. Considering Babin is comfortable playing in a 4-3 defense, the Eagles should be keen on signing the player in the coming weeks.
Of course, the possibility of such moves rests in the hands of GM Howie Roseman. Rest assured, there will be other moves that the Eagles will take a look at making which could cause a splash in free agent market. There may be even other areas that they prioritize more than those outlined above. But should the Eagles look to make adjustments in those three key areas, they will enter the 2011 season in much better shape than they finished the last.
Why are you writers so in love with DRC? for starters DRC is not a contact DB he hates to tackle and plays off the ball so now you have 2 CB’s that cant tackle which puts a enormous amount of pressure on the safeties.
VR, they aren’t in love with him, it is a forgone conclusion. The deal is done. Kolb for DRC & 3rd rounder. We now officially have two bullfighters as CB’s. OLE, OLE!! It might not be that bad of an idea, though. With the trade, it is almost like an even swap of salaries. They are almost exactly the same. So we fill a need without killing the cap #. Now we can concentrate on DE, DT & resigning Bradley. They can get additional cap money by cutting stiffs like- Mike Patterson, Joselio Hanson, Marlin Jackson, Winston Justice. With those cuts & the already $20M-$25M we will have $$$ to sign, DE Charles Johnson, DT Haynesworth (if cut), DT Brandon Mebane, DT Abrayu Franklin, resign Stewart Bradley, starting OL, backup QB, & rookies/ undrafted rookies.
Paulman’s List of EAgles Free-Agent’s soon to be…
CB – Carlos Rogers (Redskins)
LB – Stephen Tulloch (Titans)
DE – Matthais Kuwanuki (Giants)
DT – Barry Coefied (Giants)
OG – B Pollard (Colts)
RB – A Hightower (Cardinals)
WR – P Burress (Sing-Sing Correctional Facility)
The only Free-agents the Eagles sign from their current Roster is P Sav Rocca and OG MJG..Gone will be players Akers,Mickell,Bradley,N Cole,Abriami,Jordan,Paterson,Buckley,Harrison,Wells & Hobbs
This is my plan and I am sticking to it..
Jarrett is not a cb, he is a safety. He and DRC and NA do not play the same position. Therefore whether or not he is ready to play this year has no bearing on the plan for rcb. The DRC move is NOT killing two birds with one stone, please do research before you write, or at least learn the difference between strong safety and cornerback.
i could live with paulmans plans. i also would have no problem keeping harrison instead of hightower either. haynesoworth could be good if he is cut. sign him for one year and he could help. not sold on charles johnson but he would be an improvement on the eagles.
@DDCar there is no way the eagles are going to out right cut mike patterson, justice, and hanson. Thats pretty much 3 starters with how many teams play 3 WR. I dont know why people are down on Hanson, I am pretty sure he graded out as one of the best slot cover guys in the NFL last year. Might not make big plays but what 3rd corner does?
I think we all know the birds are getting DRC in the trade for Kolb along with a 2/3 that can be upgraded due to performance. They will sign a rotational DE i.e. Babin, Kiwanuka. I cannot see them paying the enmormous amout of money to a DE when washburn is constantly rotating his DL (trent included). Plax makes no sense. He hasnt played football in over 3 years and shot himself in one of the most important parts of his body for a receiver. It took Vick a year to get his speed back what makes people think plax would be any different? He is older & less athletic than Vick. Just cannot see the Eagles make this move.
My offseason goes like this:
1. DRC
2. Kiwanuka
3. Albert (Trade Patterson for a pick next year)
4. Reggie Bush
5. Paul Posluszny (If Bradley isnt resgined)
6. Marcell Reece (raiders FB who is Leonard Weaver but faster)
OK here is summup free-agent/trade wish list
1. Fat Albert from the skins
2. Fat Albert
3. Fat Albert
Thats all we need , after we secure Haynesworth anyone else is just extra
@Vrichhini
What do you want the Eagles to do sign Nnamdi Asomugha? who had less tackles than the CB who you accuse of not being able to tackle (Samuel) who also played in less games than Nnamdi as well…DRC had 3 times as many tackles as Nnamdi in 2010 and twice as many as Asante…not too mention DRC had 3 INT’s…Nnamdi no INT’s…why are you all so in love with Nnamdi? that is the question! I’d take DRC over him any day!
I’d be content if the Eagles add the following players…
CB – Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (straight up for Kolb, no other players, picks should be necessary, the need for a CB is greater than need for QB, win / win for both teams)
LB – would like to see them add more of an impact LB like Stephen Tulloch (Titans) or Paul P (Buf) James Anderson (Car) – but if not Chaney, Bradley, Fokou should become pretty solid.
DE – Charles Johnson (CAR) Cullen Jenkins (GB)
OL – I think Winston Justice will be fine…(however, I do like Carl Nicks, who would help improve run game especially on goal line situations – may cost too much to get him though)
FB – Vonta Leach (HOU) had to play a big part in why Foster was so dynamic.- marcell reece would be a good option as well
@RealTalk777 the reason namdi had lesser stats than both of those players is because no one threw his way. No one throws your way=less tackles less picks. The reason everyone wants namdi is because he shuts down half the field and qbs wont throw his way. DRC is not in the same league as Namdi, plain and simple
@DSM, firstly on this post I was speaking toward Vriccini who did not want DRC because he said he was corner that played off and could not tackle!!!!!!!!
give me a break, just had the same argument with your fellow Eagle bredren…wow they threw Nnamdi’s way 8 times fewer than they threw Asante’s way….wow…great…Asante produced more tackles and INT”s while playing in less games…I dont know, maybe I am having a bad day today or maybe the heat is getting to me, but I’m not that big on Asom…can anyone respect that?
Realtalk..We can’t respect that …it’s like comparing Isaiah Thomas to Michael Jordan..No matter how much one may have liked Isaiah Thomas if you have eyes and seen them both play you would know the Michael Jordan is well beyond Thomas. If you watched football you would know this shouldn’t even be a discussion. There’s not a national press asking where will DRC land..and that’s for good reason. Asmo is the number one free agent on the market for a reason..don’t you think? If he was compared to DRC ..he wouldn’t be the number one free agent.
another thing..Ike Taylor is a better tackler and can cover just as well as DRC…Now, you can argue on this level…But people see how much you don’t know when you make statements that DRC would be a better player than Asmo….You want average..We want shut down….See the difference?
Songs drc is no free agent you dope. Don’t go schooling people with elementary mistakes…. nobody compares free agents to signed playersfor a reason.
Schiller, you idiot..this not an argument about free agent or signed player…stop trying to spin this into a different discussion. Eagles can get Asmo who is better than DRC….that’s the point. Why get a lesser talent when the best Corner available is there for the taking? that’s the point. get Kolb’s ass outta here and maybe we can yield some picks…but if it’s about getting DRC…when Asmo is on the market..we can count this off season as a failure. This guy is not a tackler….and you can not have two corners starting that don’t like to tackle.
Schiller you idiot….the comparison is not signed player to free agent here…it’s 2 players who the Eagles have a choice between. They can Trade Kolb and get DRC or they can sign Asmo who is better than DRC. I would rather we trade for a high pick to salvage the Kolb mistake….Asmo is a game changer….DRC is a consolation.
Songs, now that makes sense. But if you think adding drc would not, make the d way better…that’s ridiculous.
For whatever it’s worth Songs, and anyone else
Asmo had a whopping 19 Tackles last season.. and has 310 tackles in his 9 year career which equates to about 34 per Season (2.25 per game) which is not very strong…
Some Comparisons
C Rogers – 54 Tackles last Season – 300 Tackles – 7 year Seasons (43 Avg)
Ike Taylor – 66 Tackles last Season – 481 Tackles – 9 year Seasons (53 Avg)
DCR – 44 Tackles last Season – 136 Tackles – 4 Seasons (34 Avg)
R Marshall – 88 Tackles last Season – 423 Tackles – 6 Seasons (70 Avg)
D Revis – 32 Tacles last Season – 231 Tackles – 5 Seasons (46 Avg)
A Samuel – 26 Tackles last Season – 334 Tackles- 9 Seasons (37 Avg)
Interceptions and Forced Fumbles
Nmadi Asmo — 0 Int’s in 2010 — 11 Career Int’s and 2 FF
Carlos Rogers – 2 Int’s in 2010 — 8 Career Int’s and 4 FF
Ike Taylor – 2 Int’s in 2010 — 11 Career Int’s and 2 FF
DCR – 3 Int’s in 2010 — 13 Career Int’s and 3 FF
Richard Marshall – 3 Int’s in 2010 — 14 Career Int’s and 3 FF
Darrel Revis – 0 Int’s in 2010 — 14 Career Int’s and 2 FF
Asante Samuel – 7 Int’s in 2010 — 42 Career Int’s and 5 FF
Looking at purely the #’s across the board,
It’s not hard to like a player like Carlos Rogers or Ike Taylor or Richarad Marshall for they all play much more Physical than Asmo or Sammuel does and that’s what the Eagles need opposite of Samuel and especially against the big WR’s pf the NFC East as well as sureing up the biggest weakness of this Eagle Defense and that’s limited Red-Zone Scores which they have bveen horrible the last 2 Seasons in ,,, Get a tougher and more physical Secondary is a big step in improving the Defense in this area
I will be fine if they get any of those cbs that are being discussed, but not as low as carlos rogers he’s too much of a step down from the others. If we get ike taylor and you ‘but cbs have to tackle’ cats get sated, then teams will throw his way all day. And we wont have as good as an int threat as others..etc.everything is a tradeoff. But the most important thing is to upgrade rcb, period.
schiller….adding DRC better…..Asmo better than better
if you’re looking to win it all……better talent wins out every time.
Why settle for less talent?
DRC should not be the topic here….there’s a great player available that plays a serious position of need. Now if the Cards think DRC is good…then keep him and give us Peterson…Don’t give us someone leftovers and tell us it’s a gourmet dish. Now that’s a deal..but don’t try to sell DRC over Asmo..I seen DRC tackling skills….bubble screens will kill that guy.
I agree an updgrade is in order, but when I look at the Eagle Defense, I see A Samuel on the one side and and we all know Samuel is not a physical player, but he is one of the best in making big plays and getting Int’s which means on the other side, the Eagles need to get a Physical CB first, I am willing to give up some Int’s opposite of Samuel to get tougher and more physical and to match up better with the big strong WR’s of the NFC and help in run support and help the Defense clamp down in the Red-Zone.. Getting another 185 lbs ICB who runs real fast but doesn’t tackle very well and shys away from contact will spell doom for this Defense and really put a huge amount of pressure on a very young and inexperienced Safety group…
Paulman..there’s a whopping stat you missed…how many of those guys gets 13 passes thrown to their side in a 16 game season? Asmo is feared….QB’s rarely try him..that destroys your stats…you don’t get stats if you shutdown your area and balls are not thrown there. Tackles happen when someone around you gets the football. remember?
Interceptions happen when the ball is thrownn to your side and you intercept it. remember? He’s a great corner not Houdini. He can’t disappear an show up opposite field for stats sake.
Cardinals will not eveen think about trading Peterson,he’s a future superstar in the NFL. He will be moved to Safety by his 2nd-3rd Season which he appears to be a natural at and has the size, randge to be an All-Pro for 10 years…
thank you Paulman…that speaks volumes. He will be a super star..Asmo is already there…So what the hell we’re talking about Cromartie for?
REALTALK, I respect that. Asomugha ain’t happening, what part don’t you people understand. This isn’t Fantasy Football. He is going to get $17M- $19M. The Eagles are only going to have $20M- $25M in cap room, before roster cut decisions. So where do any of you expect the Birds to get $$$ for DE, DT, 2 LB’s, OL, backup QB when Kolb is traded, their own players & picks, & backups. Do you see the problem?
I think Asmo is overrated, He’s played on bad ti average teams and has not made them any better.. Can he help that no one throws his way, No, but on a average Defensive team that has struggled stopping the run over the years, he definitely could be more active and get involved in more tackles don’t you think… I can’t tell you why teams won’t test him more often for I would come right out and attack him like anyone else just to keep im honest and play the whole field if nothing else.. I just don’tthink he’s worth $15-$20 Million per Season when the Eagles need to add 3-4 Pieces to this Defense.. Having Asmo and very little else is not going to make this a Championship Caliber Defense.. Adding 3-4-5 other quality Players as I mentioned earlier in the postings will benefit the team better (CB,LB,DE,DT, and maybe even S)
Singing Asmo for the Big $$ will prevent the Eagles addressing other improtant needs in my opinion.. SPread the wealth and get 4-5 very good players who are all unpgrades at postiions of instead of 1 Great player is my thinking..
Songs, I agree about nnamdi. But what if signing him would mean that we can’t also sign a good de, rt, lb, dt…etc…I don’t know how the money will shake down, but it may be a situation where we can add more talent overall by going a step down from nnamdi, which all the other cbs are…
But songs, getting that requires nuanced thinking…can you hang with that?
schill….If I could trust that the Eagles would actually get the pieces with the money saved it wouldn’t be an issue.
Every year we hear the same argument and go into a season with the same problems..Julius Peppers comes to mind…the fans was saying we can get help on the line for less and address the offensive line with the money it would cost to acquire Peppers. Remember? What help did we get opposite Cole? Who did we sign to help with our offensive line? Here we are again.
I’m tired of hearing the same pathetic fans talking about saving money as if we have won something. Get the player that’s best at the position. With our offense..we’re not that far away. we can within a few plays of beating the eventual Superbowl champs. Get the player that can get us over the hump and provide veteran leadership. Asmo and Asante would be a serious tandem.
I am not sure why everyone keeps bringing up Julius Peppers, who had no strong intentions of coming to Philly, In fact, his agents never even discusses and potential deal with the Eagles… Free-agency is a 2 way street, and not every player wants to come to Philly to play for the Eagles..
Asmo I do believe wants to play for a winner and has stated that he would prefer a big-mark,east coast team.. He’s from California and has played for Oakland his entire career, and to be honest, I think the 49ers will make him an offer he can’t refuse and believe he will end up staying out in California.. The 49ers will release CB Nate Clemens which rids them of his huge contract ($17.36 Million in 2011 and frees them up of $14 Million of Cap Space per John Clayton’s report) to them replace that $$$ for Nmadi..
****Breaking News****
Eagles Howie Roseman just called and want’s Paulman to come too Philly/Lehigh for the next 6 weeks or so to assist him in putting together the Best Roster that they can afford. He asked me to concentrate on the Secondary (Since I played CB ) but also wants some imput on the entire Defense..
I told him I would accept but will no longer be able to comment on GCobb.Com until my assignment time is up and who knows, maybe I can get a full-time gig with the Scouting Dept..
Songs, just go out and get the best. Period. Its that simple. Got you. I understand your desire for that. I get the fantasy. It makes sense. And then, there is reality. You are a passionate guy and I respect that, but the reality is that it just isn’t possible or at all a good way of doing things in the nfl. What were the packers big fa signings? Tell me the last sb team that was put over the top be free agency. Reconcile your opion with reality and then get back to me.
schiller…Packers drafts better than the Eagles….They get top production from their 1st round picks…If we drafted better and stop getting rid of players without a good replacement on the roster…things would be different. Get Asmo….hell with DRC…Give us Peterson not some light cast off that can’t tackle.
here’s a writer who shares my concerns..if the only reason we’re not getting Asmo is because of money….for what we need?…it’s a big mistake.
According to Football Outsiders, the Eagles faced three receivers or more 47 percent of the time last season. In other words, the Eagles needed their nickel back (Joselio Hanson) on the field nearly half the time.
There are some other interesting numbers in that link also. The Eagles had the fourth-rated defense against two-receiver formations, but they were 22nd against three-receiver formations in 2010.
SI.com’s John P. Lopez offers his take on what the Eagles should do in free agency:
Money is no object: The Eagles must go all-in for Nnamdi Asomugha in order to compete in this division and fortify the defense. And if Asomugha signs elsewhere, then Ike Taylor cannot slip through their fingers.
Do you see anything about getting DRC in a trade for Kolb will resolve our issue?
We have big strong Receivers in our division and little corners who don’t want to tackle is not the answer. DRC is 185 pounds soak and wet. Don’t let the Eagles sell us DRC as a cheap alternative.
Now if they want to trade for DRC to replace Joselio Hanson in the slot and sign Nnamdi…
Now that’s loading for a run…but please don’t have us get DRC instead of Asmo.
I think CB T Lindley becomes the “slot cover back” in 3 Wide sets and Hanson may not even make the squad in 2011..(especially if they sign a Free-Agent CB or get a CB in a Kolb Trade) then I would think Hanson’s days are numbered..
I would be more than content with DRC. He was asked to do alot in AZ and that defense was just plain horrible.
I find it funny how I keep hearing that DRC is like Asante, they can’t tackle — well guess what, that’s not their job. I would rather have a DB that can make plays as in interceptions than continously get the ball thrown their way and have to make tackles.
Thats just my take on things. DRC and Sante playing the cover two will be more than legit. Lets use that money for the front 7. A great d-line can make ANY pair of DB’s look like hall of famers.
birdo..and if we don’t use the money for the front 7?
Songs, im not birdo, but if they don’t use the money for the front seven, and even forgetting the new rules which will force all teams to spend more each year, then they will use it for vick, maclin, jac.kson, mccoy…etc… Don’t give me that profit bullcrap. It just is nonsensical. No eagles exec needs any more profit, they are swimming in money and they are smart with it, and have several major salary expenses right on the horizon.
Thats another thing, now I’m NOT saying I don’t WANT Nnamdi, I would LOVE to have him….but IF we pay him 21 mil a year as is being reported as his asking price — we can say goodbye to a combination of two of the following four players: Vick, Desean, McCoy, Maclin.
Now, do you want to say goodbye to ANY of those players much less TWO of them?
I sure as hell don’t. If the Eagles trade Kolb for DRC and get one, maybe two players on the d-line — which I am SURE they will, I will be content.
Lets be real folks, it’s not like we are that far off right now. We gave the Packers their TOUGHEST matchup in the playoffs and were a couple bad tackles, a shoestring tackle on desean, and a bad decision by vick from beating them. I told everyone on here that the winner of the Eagles/Packers game was going to be Superbowl Champions…..I was right, but not with the team I wanted to be right with. We are at the door step. Lets get DRC to cause more turnovers, lets get someone like Kiwanuka/Babin/Charles Johnson, and lets go win this Superbowl.
SONGS, with all due respect, nothing personal, & my apologies, but what part of the Birds can’t sign him, don’t you understand?
Asomugha, is going to get $17M- $20M. The Eagles as of now, before the Kolb trade & additional cuts, only have approximately $20M-$25M to spend. How the f^@k are they going to sign Asomugha, then sign a good DE, a good DT, LB’s, backups, undrafted rookies & their own draft picks. This isn’t fantasy football, without a cap. Are you a rock head, or am I missing something? Come on dude, I love Asomugha, too, but IT ISN’T GOING DOWN. Move on.
Ddcarr…all due respect…when the Eagles first talked about the possibility of getting Asmo there was no such discussion of not being able to afford him…It wasn’t then..and no one in the Eagles organization stated that he can not be signed…so you can stuff it….There’s free agents we will let go and that will make space…and there’s a such thing as a big signing bonus to make the yearly salary modest. Don’t want to hear it! If the Eagles are willing to pay his worth there’s way of signing him to a cap friendly deal.
I concede….we will not get Asmo….
Did all the research I needed on this with DRC and it’s clear…He fits the Eagles.
He never panned out as the starter Arizona thought he would be coming out of college and was hounded last year for his weak work ethic and it resulted in him getting torched last year…so, Arizona had it in their mind that if Peterson was there in the draft they would get him and eventually release DRC…They gave up on him. But someone elses trash is another’s treasure.
Enter Joe (Nickles) Banner in the equation…This is the piece that tells me DRC is a lock to become an Eagle.
Rodgers-Cromartie is due a reported $950,000 in 2011 and about $1.1M in 2012
Look at that salary guys..He was getting torched last season and his salary is pretty modest. Why would the Cardinals draft a corner to replace DRC if they thought he had an upside? He’s a prior 1st round pick and is slated to get less the 1 million this season. Usually a team would hold on to a talent with such a modest price tag. This don’t past the sniff test guys.
This is a Joe (Nickles) Banner wet dream.
A 185 pound less than a million under achieving first round pick.
Guys don’t buy it.
This guy can not tackle…
We will be in the same position without help if we let them slip this in on us. Ike Taylor at the bare minimum…But don’t let the Eagles sell us this stiff.
Hehe, farve rumor on pft….feels like vick again.
Ht. Wt. Age Success Rate (Rank)
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie 6-2 182 25 39% (55th)
Nnamdi Asomugha 6-2 210 30 62% (9th)
Johnathan Joseph 5-11 190 27 52% (43rd)
Ike Taylor 6-2 195 31 52% (45th)
As you can see, Rodgers-Cromartie did not have a particularly good year in 2010. Not only did he have a poor success rate when the ball was thrown in his direction, but he was a horrible tackler.
According to Football Outsiders, he missed 10 of 53 tackle opportunities (18.9 percent), which was the worst rate among NFL defensive backs. According to Pro Football Weekly, Rodgers-Cromartie added 10 pounds of bulk this offseason (as of June 26), presumably to help him be a little more physical.
So those are the negatives.
In a year when we can take it all do you want a question mark or a sure thing on the corner?
A sure thing costs
Songs, do you have a ferrari, BMW, McClaren, Bently, Hummer, Helicopter, Penthouse condo in key cities, AND several luxurious vacation/country homes? No? Why not – they’re the best. I’m sure if you worked hard enough, didn’t spend money on food, clothes, other people, taxes, healthcare or anything else you could afford it. It’s that simple. Why wouldn’t you want the best?
Oh wait, what? Life, better yet “real life”, is more complicatedd than that? Hmmm?….enh… you lost me.
But seriously Songs, on that list of stats you found, where are Dimitri Patterson, Hoselio Hanson, and Ellis Hobbs. That’s what matters. Compare DRC, Namdi, JJ etc… all the ‘eligible’ CBs to the ones we had on the team last year. We want to get a significant, very significant upgrade at RCB. That’s the bottom line. Where’s Asante on that list? Do the packers have two guys on the top of that list at CB? I’m curious.
I want Nnamdi too. In the same way that I want all that shit I listed above (cars, properties…). It would be awesome! But I’m more interested in the Eagles building a solid TEAM of players.
Songs would you rather have Nnamdi and 0 help at DE and RT (those are my two biggest needs personally) or a different (yes less expensive) HUGE upgrade at RCB and real help at DE/RT? If you take the first one, then I say you’re a greedy dope who doesn’t know what’s good for the team.
think you missed it Schill……Guys have 65 % completion rate against DRC. He’s weak so QB’s target him..that’s the point.
We already have that and we’re looking to improve that problem…not pick up someone with the same issues.
Hell…Give us Ike Turner…He’s no where near Asmo but he’s more fiery and tackles well, and can cover.
But, DRC is not thaat good…if he was Arizona would have not drafted his replacement.
Schill I would rather have Asmo and real help at DE/RT.
Again it can happen….Signing Bonuses…and roster bonus offsets high salary against the cap….
There’s no excuses
Songs, please explain then, the motive. The reason that you think the FO wants to not spend money – considering that you basically stated that they could do so without penalty to the viability of the team’s goals. What is it?
IF you say profit for the owners and/or front office… I call your bluff. That’s bullcrap because you just can’t convince me or any intelligent person that if you are correct, but then they changed their ways to what you want and ‘went all in’…. if they ‘went all in all of the sudden’ then by your belief system, they’d win a superbowl. Ok – that – right there. The Eagles win the superbowl – v. (in your sense of what is going on) they continue business as usual, pocketing profits from cheap salaries.
OK, so you’re telling me that winning the superbowl wouldn’t make them more money than not winning the superbowl and saving on player salaries would? Really?
IF IT’S NOT PROFIT, than why do they do it their way instead of yours?
SONGS, you have to be the most stubborn, blockhead, in the history of the world! WTF, are you not getting!?!? We all would love ASO. When the original talk of getting him started, the cap was thought to go up to $140M- $145M. It’s NOT, it’s going down from $128- $120. How are we going sign him & field the rest of the team? WTF!!! AGAIN, he is going to get $17M- $20M. The Eagles as of now, before any additional cuts, only have approximately $20M-$25M to sign players. That Cap # doesn’t have anything to do with our own FA’s, since they are FA’s & don’t have a bearing on what we have to spend, you blockhead. You can run out stats, & BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. It is not f^@#ing possible! Do you get? Pound it into your stubborn mind. The more you keep talking about it, the more stupid, idiotic & childish you sound. Fantasy football & reality are completely different. JEESH!!
