Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was all smiles in the locker room this afternoon. He has been taken every snap and says he’s 100% sure that he’s ready to play in St. Louis. I couid see happiness all over Maclin’s face and I could understand why. A month and a half ago, he was concerned that not only his career but his life was in jeopardy.
I was looking at him as he talked at his locker and his smile was bright and wide. Not only was Maclin’s face smiling but his eyes were as well. I enjoyed watching him chit chat with the reporters because he was enjoying it so much. I would imagine that he might have doubted whether he would ever get the chance to stand in front of his locker with a big game approaching and talk to the reporters about the game.
Don’t forget that the young man is going home this weekend. If they get ahead expect Andy Reid to try to get the ball to him. Reid has done that before as he did a couple of years ago in Atlanta for Michael Vick.
Maclin looks like himself out there on the field because we got the chance to see the first ten minutes of practice. He’s got all his weight back as well as his speed. The fact that he’s so young made that the recovery easy for him.
Everybody wanted to talk to DeSean Jackson today but DeSean made sure he was unavailable.
During his session with media, Reid said DeSean Jackson has been able to separate the business part of sport from the football part, so he doesn’t think they will have any trouble with the talented wide receiver whether he signs a new contract or not.
I don’t agree with that.
The media is allowed in the locker room from noon until 12:45pm. The players know this, so the guys who don’t want to talk, go into the restricted area to play video games, cards or eat their lunch in peace with only the other players around them.
DeSean was in the players lounge today until 12:42pm. He strolled out with a couple of towels wrapped around him as he talked on his cell phone. He probably was talking to Drew Rosenhaus but maybe not. A media circle was formed around his locker, as Jackson sat and talked on the cell phone. The clock was ticking and he knew that within seconds, the Eagles media relations staff was going to be clearing all of us out of there.
So just as Jackson knew it would happen, the clock struck 12:45 and he continued his phone conversation as all the media was ushered out of the locker room.
This is what you call the classic DeSean Jackson tease. He knew everybody wanted to talk to him about what Terrell Owens said and his lack of a new contract, but that will have to wait until after practice at the earliest.
Steve Smith has been taking his reps at the wide receiver position and they expect him to be able to go on Sunday. Reid would commit to it because they want to see how Smith’s knee reacts after getting additional work.
If Im Desean? I dont wanna talk about that mess either… Pretending to be on the cell phone like a female on the el train… lol
I doubt blame him though, I wouldnt want to deal with the questions either.. just get a deal done
I believe he is a goner after the 2011 Season and will bolt Free-Agency
Ans I believe that you are wrong about just about everything. Djax will get a deal. He is going nowhere unless he gets hurt before the deal. And I mean really hurt. And Pman- if your wrong…again… Will u leave via free agency? And go back to the panthers site you came from?
I’m dissapointed but not surprised that the Eagles and DJax haven’t squared away a deal yet. I’d like to think that their working on it and I’d like to know that they’re at least working on it if they are. Can’t see the them not trying to get something in place. I can see DJax having unreasonable demands and the Eagles not meeting them in fact, I think there’s a high chance that’s the case. If so, the Eagles will never hand over the ranch to a player like him and I wouldn’t expect or want them to. He’s exciting, he’s skilled, he can be a game changer, he’s a blast to watch and all that but, IMO, he’s not a great receiver. Fitzgerald’s a great receiver and DJax has a loooong way to go before he’s Fitzgerald. On top of all that, you have Rosenhaus which is like oil and water with the FO for understandable reasons. Just a really bad combination of egos going on with this deal. The only way I see a deal happening is if Vick helps DJax get his head in the right place.
MaybeTheyCan — the Eagles and Rosenhaus have a GREAT relationship. Don’t confuse the actions of one player and how ONE deal went wrong with how Rosenhaus and the Eagles do business.
I was at Chickies and Petes before the Dallas game two years ago and Drew was sitting at the bar with some of his security. He was nice enough to have a five minute conversation with me and I asked him why he was there, he didn’t really say, just said he was there to enjoy the atmosphere…..a couple days later I believe it was announced that Desean had hired him.
Regardless of all that, Drew is the best football agent on the planet and has a number of Eagles as his clients — so no, they are not like oil and water.
birdo – yeah, that’s a myth spread by the media – shocker.
Like I said before, if a deal ain’t struck by game time Sunday, he ain’t getting shite this year. The way they have always operated has been, is sign all of their young talent, that they like early. Have they done it? There’s your answer. NO! It ain’t happening! It’s a mistake, & I don’t like it! But it is the regime, holding childish grudges, because of his holdout & his mouth during the off season. Another bad decision, to add to the never ending laundry list of F-ups!
Reid must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
