Some guys shrink in the big games in front of the national audience, but others flourish in that atmosphere. DeSean Jackson flourishes. Move over Deion Sanders. In Jackson’s words, “Primetime is my thing”.
The big play wideout talked to the media for a few minutes after practice today and he’s still got his game face on. He’s looking forward to playing on Sunday night in front of the country. You can understand why he’s looking forward to playing in front of the country.
The speedster has had some amazing moments in front of national audiences. Last year in a night game against the Cowboys he took a short throw about ninety yards for a touchdown. He caught that long rocket of a throw by Michael Vick at the beginning of the Redskins game and took it to the house.
“It’s going to be a great opportunity”, Jackson said. “We’re going to be out there in Atlanta with a hostile crowd, emotions going to be up. It’s going to be a big win for us. We’ve just got to go in there and handle everything we need to do to get it”.
Jackson is no longer answering questions about his contract because nothing has changed, but he is focused on handle his business on the field.
“Every game I want to go out there help this team be successful”, said the two-time Pro Bowler. “I want to win as many game as possible. By doing that being in the right spots at the right time. taking care of my job everything will take care of my job. handling what I can handle everything will take care of itself and win as many game as possible”.
Number 10 knows this team has to be prepared and focused for this big game. He wants to have everybody involved in the passing game ready to put on an amazing performance.
“Every game we want to better ourselves out there on the field”, he told a group of media members. “It’s going to be different looks we’re going to be getting from different defenses. We just want to come into the game prepared, study do the things we need to do to take advantage of Sunday night”.
Lookout ATL, here comes DeSean.
Please pay DeSean its really not right, the whole country is talking about this and if he gets hurt it will really be a bad situation. The guy delivered, now pay him.
I’m sure the Eagles have offered Desean a contract. Whether its the contract he’s looking for or not is another question.
I don’t understand why people want the Eagles to pay so badly??? DJax is still playing at high level, still under rookie contract, still performing and is not making a fuss out of it. If I was the Eagles, I wouldn’t pay. Who knows how DJax will play once he is paid,
you guys are clowns, worried about what this diva makes, “pay da man”, your mantra, screw jackson, he has not proven he is an elite wideout to be bragging in the offensive manner that deion sanders did, and deion is a hall of famer, just shut your mouth, play football
We need to Pay Jackson before Sunday’s game. This doesn’t make any sense of how long we are taking to sign him to an extension. Jackson has out performed his current contract now Joe Banner needs to step up to the play and handle his business. I would hate to see him get hurt especially since he’s putting the team first. This is not the time to hate on him especially since he comes to play every week. Birds 35 Falcons 21!!!!!!!
i personally believe desean will play even harder when he gets paid….fine he might be a diva but the kid is a competitor and his goal is to be the best…he is overconfident and cocky and brings about a swagger and personally i like that attitude…if it was ‘just’ about the money desean would have held out until he got his contract like chris johnson but that isnt what djax is about..he wants to have a hall of fame career and be the best he can be and win…for such a small body the little guy plays with a lot of heart..
gcobb, do you post things like”prime time is my time” just to fuel the flames of fans like myself who remember old school football players, who let their play do the talking, and if they said anything before a game, they damn well backed it up, see jroll, this”boney James” should shut his mouth, but now that he has opened it he better bring down the house
right now i think desean is on a mission to prove that he is worth more then the contract the eagles might have offered him….the deal right now might be show us in lets say 4-6 games that you can consistently produce big numbers then they might give him the contract he wants..if he performs he will get paid..if not then he wont..and then it would be up to him to stay in philly or ‘take his talents’ elsewhere preferably south beach ala lebron and not in the big apple or the big D
We can all thank Vick for Jackson acting as mature as he is concerning his contract situation, Everyone of us said he was gonna be a distraction if it wasnt resolved before the season starts, He was gonna be another T.O. My hat goes off to him for handling it with class and for him giving 100% on the field.
3yrs, $7M per. Take it, or leave it!
He hasnt proven anything? really? listen to yourself. What crack have you been smoking on? I dont need to post stats to prove my point but you honestly think this team would win without Desean? You think players like steve smith making 7 mill this year is more worthy than desean jackson? look we know desean isnt a possession receiver and he doesnt have to be to fit into this offense. You dont pay him based on what he aint you pay him according to how important you think he fits into to your teams scheme and night in and night out desean proves he deserves a new contract.
I like how fans these days have more of a Front Office mind than a fan mind. Who cares what he makes its not our problem all we need to do is watch the game make some wings and put your hand in your pants and rub your balls. Why should we care? the man makes plays can you ask for more than that? sheesh
Vricchini — thats a moronic statement. We care because theres a salary cap and we care what positions are going to need to be addressed.
What a dumb ass statement.
bird thats for banner to figure out not you. Watch the game and enjoy deseans 90 yard punt returns.
Vricchini…LOL! ” all we need to do is watch the game make some wings and put your hand in your pants and rub your balls”Classic! I’ m taking a break from studying for my test in the morning and checked out the site and was getting ticked off at these other stupid comments concerning Djax’s pay until I read your comments. I’m sitting here laughing like hell at 1:30 AM. I agree with your comments whole heartedly concerning his pay. If it wasn’t for his play, we wouldn’t be where we are. We need to PAY DA MAN NOW; HE DESERVES HIS MONEY. If we we’re to let him walk, the way life goes in circles; if he we’re to go to one of our rivals, he would be the dagger put in us like he was to the Giants last season. All you other cats on here talkin bout what he should and shouldn’t get paid need to go and suck a pair of balls you idiots; enjoy his spectacular plays and our wins. You idiots not lobbying for his pay are prolly the ones who never made the squad or ain’t gettin yours. try to find happiness in another man gettin his instead of hating on him punks.
i dont give a f who we signed this offseason, all i want is djax f in SIGNED NOW,,,FFFFFF F HATE THIS SHYT
Don’t worry, if he leaves in the off season, Andy will draft a kicker & make him our deep threat WR! 😆 😆
Whats even funnier is you clown worrying about another mans money.
He’s on the team right NOW. Thats all that matter. I don’t care what he can do next year, I’m interested in what he can do this year. Period.
To quote phillywill, “who cares what a dude get, got don’t got”‘ priceless
I love Desean Jackson. I wear his jersey on game days. But let’s face it. The NFL is a business and the fact that the Eagles have not agreed on a new contract with him is not surprising.
Most likely, the front office has discussed what they’re willing to offer with Desean and Drew. And most likely, Desean and Drew have expressed that they want more. So there’s an impasse.
At this point, give Desean credit for honoring his current contract and helping his team win games. Meanwhile, he’s also doing what he can to impress the owners and coaches of the other 31 teams in the NFL.
My guess is that if they haven’t been able to agree so far, they probably won’t be able to get a new contract signed until he’s a free agent. At that point, we’ll find out if the Eagles value him as much as other teams do. It would not be surprising to see another team offer more than the Eagles. Then it will come down to whether the Eagles are willing to budge to try to keep him from walking and whether Desean is willing to take less money to stay with Philly. Anything’s possible.
But for now, this is the way I expect things to go down, so I think all these cries of “pay the man!” are a waste of breath.
bdawk – good stuff. I think they’re a waste of breath regardless!
i love it. Jackson has been saying all the right things and handeling his contract the right way. The ask q’s- he talks about playing. Good stuff. He is flashy, he is cocky…. but he brings it. And we are not talking about his getting arrested…. or trashing the owner….. or how they should throw it to him 100 times a game….. or how his QB sucks…… or how the coach sucks……
we have no idea if the birds offered him 1. (there have been players we like that have said they left with no offer). we dont know if a low offer has been made….. we know nothing. And thats the way i like it. Let them handle that like men.
I think- he should get a new deal. I think…. it should be a fair offer but not fitz money. I think,,,, it will get done.
I cant understand why an Eagle fan would be against Desean getting a deal… He hasnt proven anything?? WTF? wow…
