Steve Smith Succeeds On Giving Giants No Bulletin Board Material

Somebody has been talking to former Giants wide receiver Steve Smith and I think that person is Andy Reid. There’s no question that Reid has probably been in his ear and telling him not to give the Giants any bulletin board material. When asked whether this is a big game or not Smith said, “No this game isn’t any bigger than any other game on the schedule”.

He came to Philadelphia as an angry man. He was verbally calling out the Giants GM Jerry Reese for not making him a decent offer. In fact he called him a liar. How could all that animosity be gone in three weeks?

“I’m over that (his time with the Giants) I’m an Eagle now and I’m excited about now”, Smith said in responding to a question about him having any bitterness about not getting a decent offer from the Giants.

I asked him if he had anything to prove in this game. “What do I have to prove, they know exactly what I can do, I proved a lot in that uniform, it’s time to prove something in this uniform”, Smith said.

What about getting into the end zone against the Giants? “It’s sweet to get in the end zone against anybody”, Smith responded. I asked if it would be sweeter against the Giants, “No sweeter”.

He said he’s still good buddy with the receivers and expressed regret that New York wide receiver Dominic Hixon is out for the season with a ACL tear.

Kevin Gilbride “Me and him had a great relationship, so that makes you feel good inside, Smith said about comments made by New York offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride.

You and I know he wants to beat the Giants in the worse way but he wouldn’t give us anything for the Giants to put up on their locker room bulletin board.

this has worked out well for us. I hope we can keep him around a while. I cant remember how long this deal is for. is it 1 year like most of the others?

I think a 1 year – I love the formation where the eagles go doubles – avat and smith inside, jax and mac outside (yes the formation where Maclin dropped the last one. Spreads the field – takes away blitz – someone get single coverage –

I believe S Smith, VY, Ronnie Brown, Evan Mathis and Jarrod Page were all 1 year Deals. (Jenkins,Asmo,Babin are under multi-year deals)
and DCR Contract comes up after this Season, so he could bolt fot bigger bucks if he gets the opportunity..
I love the 4 wide- spread the field out formation Navy..
Send to 2 outside WR on 40 yards fly patterns down each SIdeline,
Send the slot ER’s on 10-15 Down and outs to the sidelines,
Send the TE right up the guy down the seam to clear out LB &Safety.
Then have Vick or VY take the snap, take a 5 step drop, then run right up the middle for about 30 yards before seeing another defender…

Actually, I don’t think it was Smith that called Reese a liar–I think it was Osi. I think Smith just was disappointed they didn’t offer him a deal.
