Michael Vick Is Practicing Today

Eagles quarterback Michael Vick started practice today at the Nova Care Complex with his helmet on during individual drills. He was participating like all of the other quarterbacks.

That’s an improvement over yesterday when he wore a baseball cap and stood on the side and watched. Vick took the first snaps of the individual drills with the running backs.

Right now he’s practicing with the team, but I can’t tell you exactly how many snaps he has taken.

It looks like he’s on his way to playing on Sunday against the Giants. Think about it. He’s doing everything you can do as a quarterback except being hit and he still has three days before game time. I think Michael Vick playing on Sunday is almost a sure thing.

HOPE HE DOESNT PLAY RECKLESS THIS GAME. THAT GIANTS DEFENSE IS GONNA BE OUT HEAD HUNTING. YOU HEARD WHAT DE ANGELO HALL SAID ABOUT ROMO. WHEN A DEFENSE SMELL BLOOD ,THEY GO IN FOR THE KILL. I pray Vick plays smart AND PROTECT THE DAM FOOTBALL. Vick has to be the most fumblin qb in NFL history

Supabad stfu chump. Hows about you watch your reckless o-line getting ran over by the Giants Defensive ends! or watch your poor excuse of a matthews punk out when he sees Brandon Jacobs coming right after him.

Eagles will be lucky if he doesn’t get injured again on sunday

And WHY after playing in the league and being all pro and playing all last year can’t he pick up blitzs at this point in his career

Stevo

Is that sad or what
They don’t play in their city and don’t even play in their state

Well the Jersey Giants are going down Sunday no matter who plays QB for the Eagles

rcp Here’s how his numbers looked:

No. of Rushers No. of Plays Comp. Att. Yds.
3 3 2 2 18
4 16 9 14 133
5 8 5 8 74
6 3 2 3 12
7 1 1 1 5

As you can see, Vick had success against the blitz. He completed 8 of 12 passes for 91 yards, a touchdown and an interception when the Falcons sent extra defenders. That translates to a QB rating of 82.3, which isn’t great, but the important thing here is that Vick got rid of the ball quickly and completed 67 percent of his attempts. He didn’t panic, made good reads and relied less on his legs.

Decent stuff – 2nd week – just need to keep making progress

thanks Navy. yes, vick did pretty well against the blitz this week. In fact… a few of those sacks and turnovers came from the gadgit crap that caused Vick to get nailed before he could even think about throwing it. but shhhh… dont tell vinnie… its all vicks fault.

on that note – I gotta admit I am stunned they are going to clear him to play – thay whole brain injury thing…..

I read that article too navyeagle and it is tres misleading.

Those plays only count his attempts vs the blitz. Where are his rushes? The article considers them rushing plays and so doesn’t include blitz stats…as scrambles are failed pass plays the blitz must be taken into consideration.

He scrambled 6x….I don;t know for sure, but would hazard a guess that they were when blitzes came.

So….now its 8 completions on 18 called pass plays when the blitz came….not as impressive as 8 of 12 eh? …..but wait…there’s more!!!

What about his 3 fumbles? 2 came on pass plays, and I remember one specifically when blitzer hit him…not charted in the numbers you found….

So now against blits its:
8 completions in 12 atts, 6 scrambles, one INT and 2 fumbles.

20 called pass plays when blitz came. 8 good results.

Good times all around. But hey, maybe he’ll get it after another 10 years.

To Supabad
Believe it or not, Vick does not lead the NFL in Fumbles for a QB
I think Vince Testaverde or Brett Farve have the Record and maybe even Jim Zorn and Warren Moon are up there too …
Can someone confirm…

Proper analysis Vinnie and your are correct on the inefficiency of these sample size of Vick and th Offenses Perfromance.. When taking these busted plays from his passing wefficiency, it’s really a lower “production result from the QB position…

V the V – yeah, hard part about the stats part is for ‘detailed’ you want to get. I find most data comes out in the wash i.e given a bigger data set it more accurately reflects reality. I think sometimes Vick knows he needs 4 yards so in his mind if he sees daylight he goes..

You seem very negative about Vick – I admit I was never imprssed with him in Atalnta, and was stunned the Eagles signed him, but think he has overall pitched in and done a pretty decent job here as a QB and a leader. Admittedly my offensive taste is to QBs that can run (Navy runs the Triple option – when I was an O Coordinator I run the triple option) so you can see why I like like. I also liked Kolb – I think he will do great in AZ. If given the choice this week I would start Kafka – just becuase I think brain injury is no joke.. plus, I like Kafka – I think VY is gone after this year and the eagles will find the next feeley/kafka make ready to trade QB. Kafka’s throws were spot on and even that hail mary was thrown correctly.

Alsways important to have two quality QBs –

I would love to watch a game with Vinnie at a bar just to see how he reacts. When Vick is taking off for 20 yard gains and hitting Desean on a 60 yard ball (through the air) in perfect stride, does he cheer? Does he celebrate when Vick scores and puts us in a position to win? Or does he try to tell everyone in the middle of the celebration that Vick really isn’t that good and pulls out a bible of altered stats in order to prove it in the middle of EAGLES FANS celebrating?

birdo, when was the last time vick hit jackson in stride for sixty, or has run without getting his bell rung, vick is a huge liability, stupid and stubborn, way bad combination, the albatross aroud the neck of this franchise, damn stupid move to trade kolb, even more stupid to sign vick, oh well time will tell, but my money is with the quarterback with brains, with an arm over his legs, vick will go down as the most stupid signings of this franchise

jake – he hit Djajax with a beauty (actually about three of them) of a strike against cover two in the rams game – Djax dropped it. Can’t say for certain but it was a pretty throw

Geez guys – we are becoming like a bad version of Jersey Housewives – can we get behind the team?

navy, whether i am correct are you and your comrades, the fact that there is so much disagreement about the status of the eagles you just have to wonder, and btw, my older brother, a cowvboys fan, flew f-14s of the Eisenhower, CV 69, out of Norfolk Virginia, also flew e2c hawkeyes later on, much obliged to you as a veteran

Unfortunately, I usually ony get to watch Birds games with other fans once (maybe 2x) a year…its a long drive….If you are watching me at a bar, I’d be sitting there with the same group of guys I’ve been watching MNF games with for about 25 years…and if the Eagles’ are on, what you’ll hear is me getting my ass reamed by a barrage of, “look another fumble!!”, `I`m shocked he`s in the shotgun again….must be fun watching a midget at QB`, “Oh another scramble, what a surprise!”, and especially, “You know you’re never going to win shit with this guy….” (all in good fun – and I`m giving the G-rated version)

Of course those comments are also interspersed with a lot of, “Look – the fat man is calling timeout again” and “Oh look, a firstdown pass. Incomplete…here comes the patented 2nd and 10 handoff.` Gonna be heading to the Birds-Bills game with these clowns and if the Birds are losing that one……

As for what I hope for…..I applaud when he makes a good play…but its always with the sense of impending dread…the fumble, the pick, the injury…they`re all coming…and often at a bad time…so when it happens, I`m not surprised…though I still bombard the TV with a nice barrage of colourful language anyway.

As for the negativity Navy…aside from 4 games last year…he`s exactly the same guy as in Atlanta….just with better WRs. He makes the same bad reads, still bails on plays, still fumbles, isn`t very accurate, too short for under centre, slow decision making…..I could go on. He`s the same guy you didn`t like before….

I will tell you (if you`re still reading) a good story about Vick however. It was the Championship game vs atl. I came down to Philly and was tailgating with the same group I`ve always visit when I come down. Everyone nervous. Much different pre-game atmosphere than before the TB champ game `(also at that one) if I remember….everyone was so nervous and down…“cause it was the 4th try and it was against the mighty Vick I guess….anyway, I couldnt have been more confident. And told everyone that there was no way we were losing to this pretender QB. Bingo!

Mike Vick is like one of those Dodge Neons you see where people have added the spoiler, the rims, the neon lights underneath, tinted windows…..they think it looks fantastic and flashy (they`re wrong) but `no matter what they think it looks like, they cant change the fact that underneath the flash its still a Neon.

Vin – first off – threaten physical violence to anyone inthe bar that dares diss our birds – tell me where you are at and I will back you up – ask PMan – I am not a small puppy… and I have to goto the local bars myself. I know the feeling, I think the giants game will be on out here on local cable but my wife kicks me out of the house if she is hiome..

all kidding aside – I actually thought the Eagles have been doing better at micxing the first and ten pass and the 2nd and ten run— watch that one this week…

as for Vick – I love his mechanics,, I love his arm strength, his speed, I love his athletisism, and I love the fact he makes plays. Is he Peyton Manning – no.. but hey… right I hink it is undluly harsh to say he is the same guy as the guy in Atlanta. He made some very nice throws this week. I think he has been changing..

Jake man – the only staus that matters is our status as die hard fans – the hell with what anyone else sez. As for your bro – good on him, landing on a pitching flt deck is no joke, hope he is well

Can’t take the heat get out of the oven! Learn how to make comebacks, Vin! That’s how you shut d!@#wads like that up! Don’t take it personal. Sometimes the truth hurts brother! Get right back at them! Me & my boys break each others bean bags all of the time. I want to try to enjoy the game when i’m out. If you take $#!t like that personally, you have problems! I can see if someone was messing with your $$$, family or girl, that’s different! But come on man, cut it out, stop being a wuss! It’s a f^#@ing game, get a life, life is too short! Navy, calm down big man, slow your role! You can’t threaten violence for something like that. BWAHAHAHA!!! LMFBO!! I’m 6’3″, 235, & if I fought every time someone broke my stones, i’d be doing 100 life sentences! It ain’t that serious! 😆

Thanks for the support Navy, but I’ll be ok. We’re all old hockey players up here remember? I never made any teams based on my blazing speed or dazzling puckhandling skills….

The guys I’m talking about are ancient friends. Its our duty to bust each others chops at every opportunity. Just all in fun DCcar…I guess I didn’t make that obvious enough….and don’t wrooy, I dish out better insults than I gget…..

When we were really young, the only football team we’d ever heard of was the Ottawa Rough Riders!! When we got older…and cable tv arrived, we found out about the NFL…all just picked teams. All been fans of our respective choices since…..if there was any violence, old friendships would supercede….and I think we’d be able to hold our own….though I’ve never been in a fight over football…..and at this point, I’m getting a little old for that kind of business…perhaps in my youth…in my youth…..
