Vick: “There’s no reason to think I won’t play on Sunday”

First Eagles head trainer Rick Burkholder responded to a question which went something like “Will Vick play barring a setback”. Burkholder “We’re headed that way”.

Burkholder has said all week that the Birds aren’t going to get ahead of process. They’re going to monitor Vick right up until game time and they won’t guarantee that he’s going to play until it’s game time and he hasn’t had any setbacks.

Vick made it plain after practice today. “I feel like I”m ready to play”, Vick said. “After havng two good days of practice, I am optimistic and I am looking forward to playing the New York Football Giants.”

“I’m a lot better than I was last year”, Vick said in response to a question about the Giants blitzing them. “I think them blitzing us will be a good thing”.

Vick had some fun using the name “New York Football Giants” numerous time to identify the Eagles opponents on Sunday afternoon.

He said he hadn’t spent any time thinking about getting hit. The dare devil quarterback says he only lets thought related to finding a way to win dominate his mind.

“I haven’t even thought about getting hit”, Vick said. “I don’t think about the consequences. You’ve got to play with confidence”.

He praised Burkholder for the job he has done in helping him get back ready to play so quickly. Vick went back to talking about the emphasis they put following the protocol.

Head coach Andy Reid says all of the quarterbacks had a good week of practice. Reid talked about the preparation of Vick, Mike Kafka and Vince Young and said they’re all ready to go.

I know some people on this site don;t like Vick for reasons that are football and non football related. However, i have always been a huge Vick fan and whenever he was shown on sports center or Comcast about his status improving i was fired up. There is something about watching this guy play that doesn’t translate to all players. It’s not his outstanding talent but they way in which he plays the game, the guy plays his tail off and sacrifices his body for the good of the game. That’s how football should be played and it really has been awesome watching him harness his skills as a developing QB and really transforming as a human being off the field.

KTDawk…I’m with you. He did some horrible things and he paid for them…some people will never forgive him. But give the man credit, he’s a stud and he comes to play on Sunday. It was a tough loss in Atlanta…but we’re right back on board. The Eagles cannot underestimate the Giants..we should come out with a win.

Im gonna agree too.. I wasnt a Vick fan before he came to the Eagles.. I wasnt a Vick hater either.. I really had no opinion other than being confused as to why we picked him up when we had Kolb & McNabb already..

Im not a fan who gets excited to see one particular player on the field… I want a championship.. But I gotta admit there is a big excitement boost when this guy plays…

Games are so much more fun to watch last season and this… the team is infinitely explosive and it is fun to watch when they get it right…

Doesnt mean they are a better….. They arent really better, just more explosive..

but anyway, these games (even the ones we lose) are great to watch

Funny how Vick and Crumpler had that connection in Atlanta but he doesn’t have that with Celek in Filthadelphia?

You have to remember that Vick did not have many weapons to pass to other than TR Crumpler, their WR’s were pretty average back on those Falcon teams .. Bruce FInneran, Mike Jenkins, not exactly big time WR’s..
