Antrel Rolle said Eagles were cheap-shotting

Right before LeSean McCoy carved up the Giants defense on his lone touchdown run on Sunday, Antrel Rolle and Brent Celek got into a bit of a shoving match. The little tiff earned Rolle a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty and moved the Eagles down to the 11-yard line.

But, he says, the Eagles started it (take that, refs!).

I felt like they were cheap-shotting a little bit, they kept trying to put their hand up in my facemask and kept grinding after the play,” Rolle said, via ESPN. “I just had to let them know that I am not a pushover, I am not a punk under any means and sometimes you have to put your foot down. Even if it costs you a little bit, sometimes it has to be done.”

“It is more of a mental toughness and more of an attitude than anything sometimes,” Rolle continued. “That is where I was going with that. I wasn’t going to get myself ejected, I wasn’t going to throw any blows. At the same time I am going to stand my ground.”

Since the Giants ended up winning the game, it’s easy to pull the Twisted Sister defense. Antrel isn’t going to take it anymore! Who knows how stupid penalties like that would be viewed if they lost.

And Antrel just may have been asking for a bit of a bulls eye on his chest with his comments earlier in the week.

“I don’t want any excuses when we go down to Philly and put it to them the way we will,” he said when asked about whether or not Vick would play.

Say what you want, he and the rest of the team backed it up.

I love this Rocko dude, I just want to say that. And I totally agree with him.

But anyway … Rolle actually has a point. When they showed the replay of that altercation between him and Celek I came away thinking, “Man … Rolle just got screwed!”

And rocko – tell me this, firing Reid now makes things better how – be specific – who becomes coach and how is that better? If you say Cowher, Gruden or Jeff Fisher – then justify why they would be willing to step into this situation right now, mid season with this team with these problems. And tell me how you know – without those answers, your call for Reid to be fired now (while communicating your feelings, your need to express yourself, and having agreement from others) MAKES NO SENSE.

GUYS..here’s some encouraging news from the former offensive line coach.

Qoute

“But we have a process. It’s going to take a little bit of time. We have some new pieces that will all get a good feel for each other.”

So how much time do you guys think is needed before this defense is ready?

and above all…How many losses?

songs – if they get into the playoffs and the defense IS ready (and the same for the O), than it doesn’t matter.

I didn’t count how many cheap head shots the Giants pulled like what looked like a forearm to Vicks head after he was intercepted.

schill – my guess is that Rocko’s willing to trash the rest of this season with the hope that a new coach would make it worthwhile next season and that’s how it would help.

For what it’s worth, I’m not onboard with firing Reid mid-season but, seeing him as coach is getting like going to a job you’re starting to hate. You know your done and you gotta get out and your gonna get out but don’t have a new job yet. In other words, I’ve had my fill of Reid. I don’t know who’s “out there” that is better but Reid as the Eagles coach stopped working for me a long time ago. Not my Eagles support, my Reid support. I was an Eagles fan long before Reid became coach and I’ll be one long after he’s gone, good or bad.

I still think the only thing that makes sense regarding Reid putting Costillo as DC was that Reid is positioning Costillo as his replacement when he decides to leave becasue, IMO Lurie will NEVER fire Reid. I just can’t think of any other reason why he’d place Castillo in that role.

Just watched a replay of a play that originally looked to me like a forearm to Vick’s head and it was a legal hit led by a shoulder. Gotta call ’em the way ya see ’em. The angle I originally saw was a bad one.

Damn, the tackling looks even worse a second time around.

Schiller,
It’s good to see that you finally came out of hiding from whatever rock you were under the past few days. Songs have been lookin for you and you finally come out hmmm? Anyway, MaybeTheyCan your response was hilarious. Thank you for answering whatever nonsense schiller was asking me. This is rather funny and sums up my feelings about this Reid west coast offense… “You know your done and you gotta get out and your gonna get out but don’t have a new job yet. In other words, I’ve had my fill of Reid. I don’t know who’s “out there” that is better but Reid as the Eagles coach stopped working for me a long time ago. Not my Eagles support, my Reid support. I was an Eagles fan long before Reid became coach and I’ll be one long after he’s gone, good or bad”. Thanks MTC, that sums it up for me too. Couldnt of said it any better. FIRE REID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watching Reid coach, is like listening to Freddy Kruger’s claws, in the boiler room! It’s frightening & hurting my brain! Rocko, I love how you keep your posts short & sweet! LMFBO!!! It might be impossible NOT to fire him, if they lose a few more in a row! It is actually sad, to what has happened to this team! Everything who so awesome when the lockout ended. Then we see the deficiencies in this team, after the FA signing period, & the reality starts to sink in, that this team has lots of problems!! At least to the knowledgeable fans, that aren’t stepford, Reid, @$$ dangling, monkeys!

Rocko – thanks buddy, good to be back. If you’re paying attention, I said elsewhere that I was on vacation in california till sunday night and focusing on catching up with work/jetlag until Tuesday morning when i posted. But you can pretend my absence had something to do with the loss or horrible play by the Eagles if you’d like.
