Vick likely to play on Sunday?

One of the many questions that came up after Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants was in regards to the health of Michael Vick. Not only was he just a week removed from a concussion (he didn’t seem all there during the game), but he got his hand smacked up by Chris Canty.

Initially thought to be a break in his non-throwing right hand, it was later revealed to be a deep bone bruise. Well, it looks like we might be able to put to bed the “Kafka or VY” talk for another week, because Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer is told by two team sources that Vick is likely to play.

But, do you believe these team sources? I trust McLane, but the Eagles have every reason to make the San Francisco 49ers think Vick will play. It’s only Tuesday and game plans are installed tomorrow. Do you want them preparing for Mike Kafka all week and then facing Mike Kafka? Or do you want them wasting time preparing for probably the most unique quarterback in the game and then facing someone else?

I’m not saying this report isn’t true, I’m just a bit skeptical of it. Vick very well could play, we all know he’s played through all types of pain in the past. My guess is that I’d lean towards him playing. But, I also realize the value in making the Niners prepare for him regardless.

i think he has another head knock and both he and the eagles dont want to talk about it. He looked dizzy after that hit. Yes his hand is bad but i think his head is worse. Hope im wrong- hope he plays.

You’re right Nev856….can’t win without Vick.

Last week Vick had 7 plays inside the 20 yardline…they went:
one interception,
one fumbled snap
one rush for no gain
one incompletion
one completion for a loss of yards
two completions for positive yards
one first down
no touchdowns

Can’t get much better than that. Can’t win without that. Cannot.

Vic shouldn’t have been playing Sunday. He was clearly not 100%. We are going to need him healthy and 100% later in the season. He shouldn’t be playing this week either, but the Brain Trust always rushes his key players back before they are ready and it not a good idea. He did the same thing with McNabb. LET VICK HEAL!

Everybody keeps talking about the Eagles will be better later in the season,
If the Birds don’t get their act together this week versus the 49ers, then later in the season won’t mean much.. I am not sure if many fans realize that a lot of teams have improved in the NFC this year and the Eagles do not have the time to dick around until they get things right.. It’s win now or these Decemeber games don’t even matter…
About the 49ers match too, anyone who thought the Eagles would have a nice advantage since the 49ers would have to travel across the Country which is always a tough thing to do needs to forget about that advantage..
The 49ers played SUnday in Cincinnati and then flew to Youngstown Ohio to practice and prep for this Game versus the Eagles instead of flying out back west and then back east.. A big advantage here goes to the 49ers who are hunkered down, and only 400 miles away from Philadelphia, away from the distractions of home town media, local fans and even family and friends.. I expect the 49ers to come out rocking verse the Eagles as they lose their 5th Home Game in a row at home at “Linc”…
This my friends will finally get some eyes open and hopefully some heads rolling as the succesion plan to replace Coach Ar kicks into gear.. …

eagles gotta win this game. Vicks gottta play( if he can). not only does he have to play he has to take over.. he cannot rely on his recievers this is not a west coast offense.. nate allen sucks casey mathews sucks.. why bench coleman for one bad play where at least he tried to make the tackle .. when casey mathews didint even have a chance to make the tackle.. nate allen is just like mathews soft as hell.. they should never see the field.. i was watching the colts back up linebackers put licks on running backs the eagles starters couldnt do. its pathetic, we should kept stew bradley he was big took up space than we could of had rolle and chaney on the outside.. ididnt even wanna lose mikkel . i knew this shit would be bad..

Ready in time for injury #3! Sit this guy down for some heeling time, before he ends up in a body cast! For the love of all that is holy! This team is finito!

Well, its not gonna make a bit of a dam difference to me if our chances of winning the game is increased but we end up losing Vick for the season to another serious injury. Besides, having him at anything less than 100% is going to mean that although he will be physically present in the game, he will be mentally absent and not focused on the game but more worried about when the next big hit is coming.
