Vick Talks About The Importance of Bills’ Game

We’re only four games into the 2011 season and you could say that the Eagles are in a must win situation. I say that not only because I believe it to be true, but also because the team’s most important player agrees with me.

“Every game from this point out is a ‘must-win game’ for us,” Michael Vick told PhiladelphiaEagles.com. “That’s our approach moving forward. We’re taking it one game at a time, because when you get too far ahead of yourself, you tend not to be able to focus on what’s right in front of you. We can’t dwell on last week. It’s over. Now, it’s on the next game.”

“We’ve got a lot of enthusiasm. We’re just going to go out there, take it one game at a time, and try to get win number two. The guys in this locker room aren’t frustrated, we’re just eager and we have a big-time sense of urgency.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe in this football team. I know Vick believes he and his squad are going to get their act together, but I don’t see them beating the Bills.

The Eagles are favored in the game because it’s such an important game for them. Their chances of making the playoffs would take a major hit if they lose to the Birds, but I have no confidence in the Eagles defense. Hopefully, Vick is preparing to lead the Birds offense to a 50-point game.

They’ll be going to battle without Pro Bowl offensive left tackle Jason Peters, who has a hamstring injury and the defense will be playing without Pro Bowl defensive end Trent Cole, who has a serious calf injury.

Remember that this Bills team has won two games with tremendous comeback victories. They’ve been able to put together dramatic second-half comebacks against the Raiders and the Patriots, so remember not to get comfortable if the Eagles take a big lead.

If Buffalo could move the ball with the game on the line against those other teams, they should be able to have plenty of success against the Birds. Their quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick looks like he’s beginning to really come into his own and running back Fred Jackson is one of the top rushers in the league.

Both Fitzpatrick and Jackson must be licking their chops to get a shot at the Eagles defense, which is prone to give up big plays and seems to perform at its worst in the red zone.

Maybe this predicament will wake this football team up, but they’ll have to show me before I’ll believe it.

I agree G and have not felt comfortable with this Team since Football resumed to be honest with you.. Last year it was the “Young Guns” bragging on how great their are and this year I have heard some statements from Vick and MCCoy how unstoppable they are, etc,etc,.. I am all for having confident players, but what I don’t is the bragging when this group have not even won a playoff game yet… Let your actions and play do the talking and their is no sense on any Eagle player stating publicly what they are going to do in this game or that game.. Play the damn game and act like you been there before.. enough already with these ball spins and a nice run or catch, or the pointing your arm after a 1st down catch., be professional and play the game without bragging about it .. This is a very immature and not a mentally tough team and we will find out over the next few weeks who really has the mental toughness and professionalism to move forward with this Team.. I expect a couple of players to play themselves right out of Philly if they don’t get their act together.. I miss the old Eagle teams where players were pulling for each other, picking each other up and playing for a common goal.. These recent teams have too many players who care more about their individual stats than team goals which I know todays athletes are a mirror of today’s society, but I don’t like it all…

This is what I see Offensively happening to the Eagles..
1st Round Pick M Dareus will be lined up over Rookies Center Kelce and Rookie Guard D Watkins starting his 1st NFL game.Does anyone feel good about this. I see Merriman giving Dunlap Fits all game long at LT as he will blitz from his OLB postion on most pass plays as will OLB Alex Carrington.. and I also expect ILB N Barnett to blitz up the middle between Kelce & Watkins.. Does anyone feel good about these match-up, because I sure don’t… Also their best cover CB , T McGee returns back to action after returning from injury to play in his first game this season
Now Defensivley, the Eagles face a very difficult task in slowing down this high-scoring, fast paced Bills SPread Offense and especially with this depleted Eagles D/Lione who will be missing Trent COle and A Dixon, on top of this, both Tapp and Parker are coming off their own injuries adn who knows what kind of football shape and stamina they will have sinec going from rotational players for 20-30 snaps a game to primary players and having to play 40-50 snaps this week… Are other Rotational players like T laws, P Hunt and recent signee D Landri able to play at a high level for a sustained time and amount of snaps… We will see…. I expect the Bills to come out in 4 WR Sets, Spread the ball and formations out, Run some no-huddle, spread offense which is a fast paced where DL get tired, it’s more difficult to substitute, and created a lot of confusion where we know the Eagles Defense have been having communication issues all Season long… I know many of you are not that familiar with the Bills but I ahve been following this team for the last 2 years off and on and their Offense is probably going to present more match-up problems than probably any other team they will face this Season (this includes the PAtriots too), I am serious, they don’t have the most talented WR Corps in the NFL, but Steve Johnson, Donald Jones, David Nelson all know trhier roles and this offense very well and QB Fitzpatrick has confidence in all of them.. Their TE Scott Chandler is 6’7″ and a big target in the middle of the field and in the red-zone where we all know the EAgles have had a terrible time in stopping anyone.. and then you get to their RB’s.. Fred Jackson is a tough runner who can run inside and has the sneaky speed to cut to the outside, he’s a great receiver and will line up all over the field adn an excellent blocker in picking up the blitz and helping OL out.. now the real widlcard is 2nd Year RB CJ Spiller who is finally coming into his own after a disappointing Rookie Season last year.. He’s is more of a 3rd Down Back, excellent on screen and Draw plays and gdoes have that breakawy speed.. I imagine some plays will be called for him to match up on th eoutside versus a LB in Coverage which speels a big play versus the Eagles LB Corps and the last final bad sign for the Eagles is the fact that the Bills played poorly last week in losing to the Benglas to drop their first game of the Season after having their biggest win in years the week before when the came back to beat their rivals the Patriots,, So all the big heads, egos and press clippings on how great they are are out the window (that would have been there if they won last week and were at 4-0).. Now their Coaching staff has them back focused, working hard to prove thier 3-0 Start was not a fluke, they are at home which is always a tough place to play and a loud stadium
The Eagles will need a quick start, some big plays (which their Defense will give you) and maybe try to slow the game time which I know is not Coach AR/MM Style.. But Eagles Defense and especially the front 7 will have their hands full as it is and the EAgles has quick drives and keep putting the Defense on the field, they won’t last thru the 3rd Quarter,, Also it is supposed to be very warm (75 Degrees) up in Buffalo for tommorrows game which again deoesn’t bode well for an undersized EAgles DL who are missing T Cole,A Dixon and will need 3-4 Rotational players (Tapp,Parker,Laws,Hunt) to step up and play their best games of the Season for if the Eagles are going to win, their DL will have to make plays, get some sacks and create some turnovers..
