Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com is reporting that the Eagles will sign Panthers free agent middle linebacker Dan Connor. Connor has been stuck on the Carolina bench behind Jon Beason, who is a quality middle backer.
It will be a coming home of sorts for Connor, who was a star at Penn State and attended Strathhaven High School.
I think it’s a good move. He should be able to do a good job in the middle which would allow the Birds to move Chaney back to the outside.
Back to the bargain basement shopping. After the embarrassing failure of their fantasy football assembly last year, I knew this was the route they were going to go. G, I hope that this is just BS rumors, because he isn’t much of an upgrade over what we have. Injury history, undersized, under-achiever. BRILLIANT!!! We need play-makers, & he isn’t one of them. If this is true, they better have a MONSTER draft, or it could get ugly down at the Linc in a hurry! SO SAD… 🙁

Not sure what to make of it, but Howard Eskin reported after Pete Prisco that the Eagles are not going after Dan Conner. I guess will know soon enough.
My gut reaction is that this is a typical Eagles’ move and beyond stupid; however, I’m going to reserve judgment until I see what else they do. Also, we don’t know that this is true yet. The Eagles LBs were awful this year and if they bring in Dan Connor AND someone like Tulloch or Lofton, I think that is one hell of an upgrade. Unfortunately, we may have to go even farther to wait and see if they draft a LB in the first or second round. I just hope if this is true, they aren’t bringing him here to be our starting MLB.
Like I said, this better be just a rumor. Conner is a stiff, & doesn’t upgrade our LB corp. They better not f^#@ this off-season up. It is imperative, that between FA & the draft, that they come away with at least 5 total impact players, or you can stick a fork in them by mid-season.

5 impact players is a bit ambitious DCar. If you look at all of the successful team over the past decade (Steelers, Patriots, Saints, Colts, Giants, Packers), none of them added that many significant pieces in free agency and the draft. I think the Eagles need to ensure that they get an impact MLB who can lead this defense. That is priority number one. If they fail to do that, then I think we can expect more of the same this year on defense. We’re already losing, IMO, our best corner in Asante assuming that they trade or release him. My wish list is as follows:
1. Sign Tulloch and Jones (Tennessee) in free agency
2. Draft the best DT on the board in the first round
3. Resign Mathis

Its worth a shot if he’s there in the 4th round? I mean would you rather them draft a guy like Teo Nesheim. Oh wait he was a 3rd round pick lol. My point is, they are probably going to miss with this pick, so why not pick the guy with the most potential upside, which is obviously Burflict, even though he is a huge risk.
@Muimuiman…aren’t you concerned that Poe is more a craetion of a terrific combine and not from his play in college? I would rather see someone like Fletcher Cox taken at that position (or dream about getting Stills from Penn State), I just don’t trust that Poe is really as dominate as he looked at the combine.
