The Eagles will be getting a visit today from former Minnesota Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe, who is currently a free agent. He’s now out on the open market looking for a new team.
Shiancoe has had some big years in past and at 32-years of age may have the ability to help the Birds in their red zone offense as a backup tight end. He and former Vikings quarterback Brett Favre developed quite a connection in 2010, when the veteran tight caught 11 touchdown passes and all of them were in the red zone.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy Reid has talked to Favre about Shiancoe.
He’s a much better blocker than Eagles current number two tight end, Clay Harbor, but I don’t think the Birds want to give up the development of Harbor. Shiancoe would have to come in here as a third-stringer.
